The Multi-Dimensional OC Bar

"A changeling." Griff answers on short. "So what if she doesn't want to give you her name? Will it change your life completely?"

"No Griff, it will not. However," she smiled thinly. "I'm sure Ician would be interested to hear this changeling was here. And it will change his life quite a bit. And can you walk past me changeling?"

The changeling laughs. "Why not? You cannot stop me. I can walk past you any time I want."

Griff sighs. "Whatever, I guess." He says and goes back to sit at his table.

The chef, who until now had been happy to stay at his grill now popped his head through the serving window. "Both of you, calm down or leave. Pony you cannot stop the changeling from leaving if she wants to. This is my dimension, I leave it open as a place for you all to come and relax not to fight each other, and just so you're aware you can only leave to your own dimension so there won't be any interrogating being done anywhere." He says, there was no malice in his voice he was simply stating the rules.

"Divine is it really worth getting yourself banned from an entire dimension?" Storm asks, in a bored manner.

"I am calm." The light from the changeling's horn sputters and dies out, and she gazes at Divine balefully. "Well? Will you still try to stop me?"

((I would. For sure.))

[I would too] Divine lifted her sword and sighed, stepping to one side. "Fine. I will let you past. I can guess your name Changeling... But I will not speak it. Go, if you wish. I apologise for being so... Unwelcoming." She bowed her head.

The chef nodded in a final manner then left back to his grill, humming a distinct tune which he broke from every so often to sing "and we'll take a cup of kindness yet." Before continuing to hum the tune.

"Come sit with us for a while both of you." Storm says, standing up. "I have to check something quickly but I'll be back in a bit." He said walking to the door, then stepping out into the room beyond. The door opened a few minutes later and Storm walked in holding a coloured horseshoe. "It looks like I'm definitely taking a holiday in the next few weeks." he said dropping it on the table. "Martini can I get some Cider over here for me and my friends?" Storm calls over to the mare by the counter. Martini trots over suspending a tray with the requested drink in large glasses suspended in her magic. "May your the seas you travel be calm, the winds fair and may you always return to a warm bed and good company." He says raising his glass.

Divine walked over, struggling to avoid the tables. Sitting down, she takes the mug of cider and raises an eyebrow. "That's an interesting blessing," she remarked as she sipped the cider.

"Grew up in a small town on the coast." He said as he took a sip himself. "You pick up odd things like that." He added. "Your not wearing your armour this time. Have some time off?"

She nodded quietly. "I do... I've spent enough time in court for a long time apparently. Six months paid leave, and I'm not allowed anywhere near the court rooms in that time."

Storm nearly choked on his cider at hearing that. He shook his hooves that were now covered in the golden liquid as he coughed to clear his throat of it. When he was able to speak again he said. "Six  months? How much time did you spend working to get half a year of leave?" he wasn't entirely certain he wanted to know the answer.

She tapped her chin on thought, seemingly unperturbed by his reaction. "Ummm... Five... Maybe six years without breaks... Like, working on holidays and stuff like that..." She sipped her beer. "Oh, and it's also sorta for my protection. I sentenced somepony to life, and they pissed off a one of the larger crime groups in Fillydelphia."

"It seems so much more reasonable now that you say that. I love my work but still having to work for six years? I don't think I could handle it and my job isn't high stress like yours appears." He said feeling it was safe to return to his drink he took another sip. "At least you have this place to come and socialise when you want to."

She nodded. "Indeed. It is a small relief I suppose." She sipped her cider happily, relaxing.

Divine yawned and glanced around, ears twitching. "Is it always this empty?" She enquired, finishing her cider. "And um, why did you call me and the changeling over?"

"Indeed, why?" The changeling's ears twitch in concern. I must leave soon. Very soon. "I have... Matters to take care of."

The door swings open. Ician, a sheaf of papers enveloped on his telekinetic grip, steps into the bar.

"Well, Griff," he says, a hint of apology in his tone, "it seems you may well be innocent. The autopsies indicate that the cause of death for the guards was advanced offensive magic. The culprit is likely to be..."

For the first time since his entry, he noticed the changeling sitting at the table. His eyes widen in apparent shock. "... a... changeling..."

Divine turns. "Oh hello Ician, that's not just any changeling... I think... Pretty sure anyway... Sorta..." She scratched her mane. "Just ask her for her name..."

The changeling fidgets uncertainly.

"Of course that's not just any changeling. All ordinary, unranked changelings look the same." He jabs a hoof at her. "No, you're a commanding officer. No one else would have... hair."

Divine facehoofs. "Not that you idiot. Her name, ask her name..." She orders another glass of cider, listening with interest.

"Her... name?" Ician stares at the changeling, confused. "Why? What would that matter?"

Almost imperceptibly, the changeling's horn begins to glow anew.

Divine facehoofs harder. "Let's see genius. She reacted violently after I asked for her name, and shocked when I mentioned yours. I can only think of type of changeling that would react like that, and that's one that knows you."

"A changeling who knows me? But that's only-" His eyes widen. "No. Impossible. She's dead. She can't be..."

The changeling gulps. Her horn shimmers with renewed light, the glow becoming noticeable.

Divine almost blinks in surprise. "I was right? I mean, I was following a pretty crazy theory... So she is her..." She whispered to herself. Divine stood up slowly, gulping down her cider.
