Name: Rain Blade Alter Ego: Rain Flare

Race: Thestral

Age:Young adult, mid to late twenties

Alignment:Good

Mane:Dark red, puffy, resembles a cloud almost

Coat:Short grey fur that stops above his hooves

Cutie mark.:Triangle of raindrops with a lightning bolt from right to left through the middle

Distinguishing Features:Turquoise eyes that resemble a cat's

Specialty (eg. special spells, unique powers etc):Advanced control of lightning

Weaknesses:Can lose control of lightning if is careless while controlling it, split personality that does not differ terribly from the other, but the condition gives him migraines and can cause confusion to other ponies. He essentially has two different minds in his head, while they are not terribly different in their personality, the situation is still very volatile considering he should only have one mind and that it was caused by a failed spell. He isn't just schizophrenic, he literally has two ponies in his head, the spell tore his mind in half; his actually self and how he wishes he could be. If one were to overpower the other, both could die because they share a brain, so the damage caused by destroying one mind could kill the brain.

Occupation:Inactive Lunar Guard due to his condition

Gear:Royal Guard armor, blades that go over the claws of his batwings

History:Rain Flare was originally Rain Blade of Princess Luna's royal guard. His parents were pretty average, his mother was a unicorn named Harmony Dancer, she owned a small bakeshop in Canterlot. His father was a Thestral guard for Princess Luna by the name of Rain Crasher. His father frequented the bake shop because he had a bit of a sweet tooth and because he fancied Harmony. After some time Harmony asked Crasher out on a date, realizing he was too shy to do so himself. Eventually they got married and had Rain Blade, named after his father. Rain Blade was born a Thestral and wanted to follow in his father;s hoof steps and be a Lunar Guard. He went to Cloudsdale for flight school and took the Guard exam immediately after graduating. He failed the first time but passed with flying colors when he took it the second time six months later. After some time in the guard he rose through the ranks and was put on Princess Luna's personal guard. After the changeling attack he was reassigned to the border of the changeling forest. During a patrol e was kidnapped and experimented on by the changeling queen, the experiments resulted in his split personality and multiple delusions, including courting Princess Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, and Princess Luna. Upon being rescued he was admitted to a therapist and had been adjusting to living with two minds in one body, threatened by death constantly should he lose control.

Personality: Rain Flare is chivalrous, compassionate, and loyal to his friends and oaths. Rain Blade shares his loyalty but is not as chivalrous as his counterpart, having been in several relationships which he blames himself for failing. He also suffers from bouts of depression and rage.

2. Your replication of the character "gimmick" that the player of Wild Card used for his character is far too blatant to be coincidental. I have no personal issue with you doing this but you need to keep in mind that when you choose to imitate an extremely detailed character who is rightly used as the standard against which MPD characters are judged, you choose to undergo greater scrutiny of your work because you're inviting me to measure you against Wild Card directly. Also, if the player of Wild Card voices any issue with you duplicating his concept in this way, his wishes take precedent because he's the owner of the idea.

I'm sorry to be blunt, I apologize very sincerely if I'm coming across as a jerk or mean, but this is just how things are when you build an MPD character that uses cards and eye color change to represent the different personalities as well as associating the character with card games.

Name: Quimia

Race: Zebra

Alignment: Good

Mane: Black and white, like most zebras; but rather than standing upright in a Zecora-esque fashion it cascades downwards.

Coat: Black and white

Extra details that aren’t needed but are nice to add: She wears a silver pendant with an inlaid onyx around her neck at almost all times.

Distinguishing Features: Zebras are already quite rare in Equestria, but unlike the impression many have of zebras, Quimia does not have the tendency to rhyme in normal speak, and nor does she possess a strong zebra accent.

Specialty: Quimia is an expert in the art of brewing potions; though her abilities in this field are widespread, her specialties are the concoction of healing and magic-boosting potions, along with a peculiar incendiary mix.

Weaknesses: She is most used to her potions and the little bit of zebra magic she has; as such, tasks which require a great amount of physical strength are usually beyond her abilities. She also does not have much experience with non-magical fighting, meaning that if she is forced into a swordfight she would most probably lose.

Occupation: High Alchemist of the Canterlot Royal Guard

Gear: Since she is nominally a part of the Royal Guard, she owns the standard-issue gold armour, shortsword and spear, but the most she usually carries around with her is the sword, in order to stay nimble and light on her hooves, as well as to allow for ease of motion. She commonly wears a brown cloak infused with the essence of speed-boosting elixirs, allowing her a slight but noticeable increase in speed.

History: Quimia was born in her native land, away from Equestrian borders. It was there where she developed her zebra magic, but all through her youth she was far worse at it than her peers.

She soon discovered her worth, however, in the art of potion brewing. Though her magic was meagre, she found an efficient way to transfuse it into various concoctions and elixirs, bringing the true scope of her abilities into full view. For a few years she stayed in her village, teaching others how to create and use potions in the most efficient manner.

One day, when she was out exploring for ingredients, she stumbled across a small town at the Equestrian border. The inhabitants of the town were suffering from attacks from wild timberwolves in a nearby forest. At first, when Quimia approached, they hid from her in fear, but when the aforementioned timberwolves attacked her the townsfolk were astonished to see Quimia's potions at work. She made short work of half the wolves with her powerful incendiary potion, and a few more acid potions sent the rest fleeing for the safety of their forest, never to return.

The townsfolk welcomed her after that. She wanted to teach them basic potion-making skills, so that they could defend themselves in a future attack, but to her surprise learned that ponies did not have the same type of magic that zebras did, and thus her style of brewing was useless to them. She left a few incendiary potions with them, and asked them to tell her about Equestria.

In the days that followed, she became increasingly aware that Equestria was devoid of the power she knew to be commonplace among her people. Deciding that, now, the ponies needed her skills more than her village did, she ventured to the Equestrian capital with a few of the townsfolk she had helped to seek an audience with Princess Celestia.

The Princess received her warmly, and after hearing of her exploits assigned her the post of alchemist in the Canterlot Royal Guard, where she would be responsible for supplying not only the Guard but all the towns under Equestrian protection with her potions.

Since then, Quimia has been highly successful in Equestria, so much so that she was promoted to the post of High Alchemist - a position that did not even exist before her entry to the Guard. Her most common exports are magic-infused medical supplies like bandages and antiseptics, which are especially crucial in places without unicorns well-versed in healing magic. Her incendiary potions, despite never actually having been used in military action, are held in bulk in many cities as a deterrent against aggression.

Personality: Quimia is not very sociable, being one of the only zebras in Equestria, and though she holds an important position she still suspects that some fear her for what she is. To her friends, however, she is helpful and kind as can be. She has a sense of duty to life itself, considering it her mission to help where she can with what she can do. In general, she tends to be enigmatic in her conversations, especially with strangers.

Race: Vampire Unicorn

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Mane: Azure, tinged with green and long over his right eye.

Coat: Red-tinged grey, shabby and long.

Cutie mark.: A tombstone, cracked down the middle.

Extra details that aren’t needed but are nice to add: Arcane has several aliases, including the 'Walking Death' and 'One stallion Army.'

Distinguishing Features: Arcane is easily identifiable by his long fangs, and hoarse, whispery voice. He also wears a long trench coat, regardless of the temperatures.

Specialty (eg. special spells, unique powers etc): Arcane is adept in most forms of combat to some degree, having spent most of his life fighting as a mercenary. However, he is distinguished in two primary areas. The first is a set of twelve runed throwing knives, which as well as being incredibly sharp, return to his ever-ready grip. The second is his magic, the ability to temporarily re-animate the corpses of the slain. These undead will fight for him, until they can fight no more.

Furthermore, as a vampire, Arcane has all of their strengths, including inhuman strength, speed, resilience, and accuracy.

Weaknesses: Arcane is a vampire, and as such he can only operate at night. He is also weak to fire, silver and true faith. Though he is naturally resistant to magic, he has no other such resistances beyond that, nor is resistant to physical attacks beyond his own vampiric abilities. Furthermore, the corpses that he reanimates can only be reanimated under specific conditions. 1. That they are under a day old. 2. They must not have been possessed of true faith. 3. He can only reanimate them for a period of 12 hours, or until they come in contact with sunlight. 4. He cannot reanimate a corpse more than once. 5. They must have been of pony, griffon or Minotaur origin. He cannot reanimate any other creature bar these. 6. He can control a maximum of corpses equal to a quarter of his life. (Rounding up)

The corpses themselves are only slightly more resilient than a normal creature, are weak to fire and sunlight, and have no defence against magic.

Occupation: Arcane is a mercenary, and works for the highest bidder.

Gear: As stated earlier, Arcane wears a trench coat, and wields a set of twelve rune-enchanted throwing knives. He also occasionally wields a short-sword.

History: Arcane was born to a prostitute, and never knew his father. However, he made the best of his life, working as a con artist on the streets of Vanhoover, and making a decent profit. However, when he turned nineteen, he left the somewhat protective clutch of his mother, and began to search for a job.

It ended poorly.

More specifically, in a back alley with a knife in his throat. However, as he lay dying, a shadow appeared, a pair of white fangs glowing in the darkness. Two words echoed out of the shadow's mouth. "Virgin? Live?" Arcane nodded as best he could, and the soothing glow encompassed him.

When he awoke, he found himself stronger, faster, better. And burning. Scrambling into the shadows, he found a note scrawled describing his new body, and it's strengths and weaknesses.

Disgusted by the world in general, Arcane turned to the life of a vigilante. Striking terror into the hearts of the criminals of Vanhoover, Arcane was content with his new position. However, it did not last, as his mother was murdered by a fat, rich noble.

His life now empty, drained by the death of his mother, Arcane saw the truth of this world, and began to sell his services as a mercenary, any concern of justice or righteousness gone. His cynical nature and lust for coin sees him take the highest bidder.

Personality: Arcane is a cynical, rude, obnoxious git who works for coin alone. He treats his employers as scum and everyone else as dirt.

Current Home: Arcane lives under whichever tree is the closest, and offers the best protection from the sun.

Specialty (eg. special spells, unique powers etc): No special powers, but he is a genius inventor and mechanic. He will often come up with ideas randomly.
Weaknesses: Weak physique due to obsession with "developing his finesse skills", and a nasty penchant for smoking. He is low on stamina and brute force.
Occupation: Inventor and mechanic
Gear: Mech Eye (Acts as a camera and mood shower [magically enhanced]), hoof mounted crossbow, shurikens
History: Growing up around a family of innovators, Tinker was taught to be gifted in many areas. A natural learner, he soaked up the info like a sponge. He cared about his parents and sister deeply, which made it all the harder for him when they were killed in a Changeling raid on his neighborhood. After the incident, he continued to study, but he grew cold and calculating, a far cry from his original persona. He later learned to cope, but kept the coldness, saving his warmer side for those he cared for.
Personality: Callous and snarky when you first meet him, but if he grows to like you, he'll open up a bit. He is prideful, and prone to anger if he feels insulted or if someone he cares for is threatened.
Current Home: Ponyville (Formerly lived in Manehattan. His childhood home is Candlehearth Vale, a small village)
Misc: He loves grapes. He will always be found with a book or two if he is out. He will often become obsessed with his projects, spending weeks- months even- in isolation, trying to complete it.

Gear: katana, black trench coat, shackles over hooves
History: After his parents mysteriously vanished, Check was fostered by a travelling group of monks. He learned their ways, the most prominent of which was the power of Aura. Aura, or life force, was all around him. The monks taught him how to see auras, and how to manipulate his own, using it to augment his speed, strength, and durability. It manifests in a light red glow around his hooves or body. This power costs him though. Using it for too long, or with too much force, can drain his body of all its energy, killing him. He trained to minimized this, but the threat is still there. He was also taught in hoof-to-hoof combat, as well as how to wield a blade. After learning all he could from his masters, he set out on his own, wanting to make a name for himself.
Personality: As a pony, he is kind, tempered, and all around good hearted. As a sensei, he has learned to be cold, only giving subtle praise when it is deserved. His students only get his true respect when they have become somewhere close to his equal.
Current Home: Neighpon, though he travels often
Misc: The shackles along his hooves are a symbol of his freedom from normal sight. He takes them off at night, when he goes to sleep

Distinguishing Features:One has a long, thick scar running across his right eye and down under his chin. His fangs, when extended, are extremely long.
Specialty (eg. special spells, unique powers etc): One has encountered most magic over his life time, but has never bothered to master it. His own magic comes from what he calls his aura, which is similar to the magic pool of a unicorn, except it draws from his eternal life. As his life is threatened during the day, his ability to manipulate his mana is extremely limited. He generally manifests his aura in an increase in speed and strength, though he can also create short blasts of energy, or, consuming a fair amount of his aura, send messages via telepathy. His body is also extremely malleable when exposed to his concentrated aura, and he can modify it, though he cannot stretch it beyond his original body, that of a tall pegasus.
Weaknesses: Being a vampire, One is exceptionally weak to any form of light magic, as well as the natural light of the sun and silver. He is also extremely emotional at the present time, and often makes rash decisions. He is currently not himself at all, and is delusional, beliving that he sees the ‘paths of fate.’ He also possesses a weakness to his own sword, Hope. Regardless of which emotional state he is in, One is almost always vain, and often proud, often leading to confrontations he cannot win, either through sheer numbers of enemies, or the overriding skill of his opponents.
Occupation: Though he once held the position of Commander of the Royal Guard, he no longer holds any formal position. However, the unofficial Vampire Army see him as their commander, and the three leaders all refer to him as such.
Gear: One does not often use any armour, though he will occasionally wield a unique set of armour called the ‘Armour of the Night’, which boosts his already above average strength and speed. He also often carries a blade known simply as Hope, which is entirely normal except for its strange affinity for him, and its ability to kill him.
History: One was born 12 thousand years ago, of one of the early families of the ponies. During a trip in the forest he was attacked by a wolf, and he was on the verge of death. However, the magic within the race of ponies’ blood was far stronger than it is now. When the wolf attacked, the magic in his blood was potent enough that when he passed over, it dragged his soul back into his dead body. Such a revival was painful to say the least. And it wasn't perfect by any means. His body had died when his soul returned, so he remained dead. When he awoke from his rebirth, he was thirsty, so very thirsty. He found a river, but even after drinking several litres, he still thirsted. Returning to his home, he smashed open the door with no effort. His first daughter, twelve years old, died almost instantly, and she died screaming. Still thirsty, he set upon his second daughter, killing her in her sleep, her face peaceful. His wife, not recognising him covered in blood and fire in his eyes attacked him. He killed her, his jaws around her throat, and finally his thirst was slaked. Seeing them die by his hoof, One fled, never looking back. Over the next few millennia, he travelled far and wide, saving lives in an attempt to redeem himself. However, the only pony to ever catch his eye was a mare named Frozen Tempest. Long story short, he fell in love, didn’t quite marry her, and since she didn’t want to become what he was, lived with her the rest of her natural life. Their only child however, Isabelle Tempest, joined him as a vampire. Time continued to pass, and eventually he fell in love with Princess Luna. As another immortal, he realised she
could be his redemption. However, he was corrupted to believe love was evil, and got a warlock to seal his ‘good’ side away, leaving him a husk of a stallion. He now believes his daughter is a physical incarnation of fate, and that he can see the paths of fate.
Personality: Whilst one was once a balanced, carefree stallion, he is now gaunt and constantly suffering from a series of switching outlooks on life. He is incredibly hard to predict and randomly throws tantrums or starts fights.
Current Home: One does not live anywhere persay, though he does have an uptown residence in Canterlot.

History: Wyvorn was born in a rich family in Griffin's capital city. His father was a soldier and his mother was a hunter, so both taught him how to deal with swords until the age of 20. Since his mother was a hunter, she also taught him how to sneak around and not to make so much noise. At the age of 22, he decided he is going to start traveling around the world, where he could hopefully make new friends and find a lovemate. At age of 23, he found a temporary home in the Crystal Empire. He is still getting money from his rich family as he explores the world on his own.

Personality: Cheerful, happy, doesn't get angry that easily. Likes making new friends.

Distinguishing Features: His eyes are completely milky, missing the irises.

Specialty: His psychic powers are his greatest specialty. Although he is blind by birth, his senses allow him to perceive his surroundings to a greater degree of comprehension than standard vision could ever allow. He also has the telepathic ability to communicate over long distances with his mind, and the ability to read the minds of others.

Additionally, he also has the ability to do two special things:

Mind Link: He has the ability to Link his mind with a fully consenting individual, bypassing their mental security and connecting their consciousnesses into a Nexus which connects all their thoughts and allows them to share sensory information. Depending on the closeness of the Link this could be as simple as a telepathic telephone to a complete mind-meld into a single being across multiple bodies. Being Linked allows Insight to communicate with his Linkee(s) over much further distances than before.

Insight can include several individuals in a Nexus at once, and while the intimacy of a Link can vary depending on the wishes of the involved parties, a Linked individual will stay Linked so long as both they and Insight consent.

Telepathic Blast: His main form of offense. He delivers a blow to the mind of his enemy, which depending on the circumstances could have a wide range of effects, from a mild headache to complete unconsciousness. It varies in strength based on the mental fortitude, physical closeness, and mental fatigue of the target. Mages that have cast many spells, melee-range targets, and mentally weaker opponents are all preferable targets for this Blast. The Telepathic Blast can be conducted from either his own body or the body of a Linked individual, in which case the physical distance is considered from the body of the individual instead. This spell is usually unlikely to kill so much as incapacitate.

Weaknesses: Though his magic allows him perception of his immediate surroundings, he is unable to see great distances as his "sight" is limited by range. His maximum capacity reaches about a hundred metres away from him.

As for his mind-reading, it is not infallible; if somepony tries to hide their thoughts from him, it would require more and more energy and concentration to determine their inner thoughts, the mightier they are in mental strength - usually determined through intelligence and lack of mental fatigue - up to a point where it is virtually impossible, which is why he usually contents himself to plucking surface thoughts.

His telepathic blast suffers from similar constraints, just like the difference one would expect from punching a couch potato compared to punching a bodybuilder.

Finally, as he is naturally unable to see, if he is cut off from his magic he will be completely and truly blind.

Occupation: Telepath, in service to Princess Luna

Gear: He is not inclined towards combat, and as such he is not naturally armed. He is usually clothed in a long, flowing purple and gold robe with a sapphire clasp in the shape of his cutie mark.

History: Insight was born in Canterlot, completely blind. This caused great alarm to his parents, who brought him to as many hospitals as they could, but ultimately all in vain - Insight's problem lay not in any conventional ailment. There was some power was deliberately keeping him from seeing.

He discovered this power when he was sent to a special school for the disabled and first learnt about magic. After class, he came home and tried to exercise his magic reach for the first time, and nearly fell over in astonishment when he realised that he could see. His room manifested itself in stark clarity for the first time, and although he could not truly see he could see.

His parents sent him to the hospital one last time, where the doctor's verdict was final; his ability for magical perception was what blinded him, as it siphoned off the energy that would normally go to his eyes and channeled it to his horn.

From then on, Insight was no longer chained by his disability like he had been in the past. He switched to a normal school and worked his way into Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns, where his talent was recognised by Princess Luna. After his graduation, Insight was invited to the Palace to study advanced magic under Luna herself.

Luna attempted to teach him how to dream-walk - the ability to look into the dreams of others. Insight tried to learn, but ultimately ended up in possession of a variant of the spell instead; the ability to look into others' thoughts. A few more years of trying to learn to dream-walk yielded another useful ability: The skill to communicate telepathically, over large distances. He tried for much longer, but ultimately failed to glean anything else from Luna's unique style of lunar magic.

Ever since then, Insight has stayed in the palace, occasionally providing his services for Royalty-associated parties and the military. He has maintained close contact with Luna and nominally works as her telepath, though he rarely does any duty associated with his position since Luna is fully capable of much of it herself.

Personality: He is naturally soft-spoken, saying nothing unless he deems it necessary. He is also reserved, preferring to keep to himself and those he trusts instinctively. By nature, he is trusting, but with good reason; he often plucks the surface thoughts of anypony he meets to see if they mean him harm.

History: Born in Canterlot, Gytos Iratos, was mostly raised by his uncle. His father was gone and his mother worked in a boutique in town. His Uncle Veil was a stage magician, preforming 'miracles' on stage. He entertained audiences and let his favorite nephew help behind the stage. Gytos's mother passed away when he was in his teens and his uncle took custody of him. They moved around the country playing shows and street performances for years. A lot of the magic that the audience was seeing was preformed behind the scenes, made by Gytos in little bottles. He found a love in concocting simple creations that gave each trick that special smoke screen or glitter shower when thrown on stage. They were incredibly simple however and didn't satisfy his love for creation. As his Uncle Veil became older he could no longer travel and preform which he required to a nice apartment in Hoofington. Being of twenty, Gytos took his uncles travel carriage for himself and made it into a live in lab. He spent the last three years moving around Equestria collection knowledge from books, tales, and experimentation of potions creation. He makes a small living on selling medical potions out of his mobile home but most of his time is spent learning.

Personality: He is kind of an oddball. He is the type of pony to be as serious as possible and then crack a joke, or downplay a serious situation with sarcasm, or just kind of say the wrong thing. He is introverted when it comes to most things but is more than willing to talk to anyone if he needs a test subject.

Extra details that aren’t needed but are nice to add: The two tattoos at first seem like Cutie Mark like marking but in fact are marks of his tribe. The paw above his eye marks him as a wanderer and traveller as opposed to a tribe member who moves with the main pack, while the sun tattoo marks that he was born in the summer.

Distinguishing Features: Besides his tattoos his pink nose sticks out rather sharply from his black coat, much to his annoyance.
Specialty (eg. special spells, unique powers etc): Like all panthers Lanijai is extremely accurate, capable of grounded levels of agility on par with a pegasus. His strength, while not on the level of an Earth Pony, is higher than an average pony.

Weaknesses: Like all Panthers Lanijai is immune to resistant to most drugs and poisons. Unfortunately this also means that most medicines and pain killers also have trouble working on him; panthers have a higher pain tolerance as a result but are more vulnerable to disease as a side effect.

Occupation: A scout for the Dune Cats tribe, Lanijai really has no job other than being ready to immediately return to Zebrica should his tribe need him and to report any useful or worrying information back to them.

Gear: None. Uses his claws and teeth as natural weapons.

History: Lanijai was born in Zebrica to the Dune Cats, one of the last exclusively Panther Tribes that still wandered the land. While technically in line to be chief of the Dune Cats, Lanijai relinquished his claim rather quickly since he didn't want to be chained down by the tribe and wanted to see the world.

His sister, despite clearly being a little annoyed at Lanijai dodging his responsibilities, granted his request and sent him to be the tribe's eyes and ears in Equestria. He currently lives there and makes a living doing odd jobs around Ponyville, often helping Zecora with securing ingredients that cannot be bought in town.

Personality: Lanijai is relatively laid back and, in his own words, a lazy panther who would rather doze in a comfortable tree than do anything productive. While he is perfectly capable of defending himself in combat he would rather avoid it if possible.

Maretropolis Character Sheets For The Shield (1/3)

Name: Ambrose Moxley
Race: Unicorn
Age: 38
Alignment: Neutral/Evil
Mane: Chestnut and kept short

Extra details that aren’t needed but are nice to add: Has several scars beneath his uniform as well as a chip out of his horn.
Distinguishing Features: Wears the familiar black uniform of The Shield, in his case a flak vest and black combat pants and boots. The flak vest has hooks for a stun gun, nightstick and handcuffs on the front.
Specialty (eg. special spells, unique powers etc): Close quarters combat and neutralisation of super ponies.
Weaknesses: For all his skill Moxley Ambrose is otherwise a normal unicorn with no "super" powers of his own.
Occupation: Mercenary
Gear: The aforementioned uniform and weapons that he can attach to his vest, Moxley Ambrose usually has several other necessary tools such as a pulley and wire for scaling of buildings, a lockpicking kit, a radio for keeping in touch with his partners and has quite a collection of weaponry depending on the job in question.
History: Before the foundation of the Power Ponies and groups of their type Moxley Ambrose led a military unit known as the Hounds of Tartarus who were specially trained to find, capture and if necessary kill super powered ponies.
After Ambrose's unit was rendered redundant by the foundation of the Power Ponies and other organisations the commander was offered a place in the group for his services to the government. There he met his future comrades and partners Reigns and Rollins, with whom he formed a quick partnership and deadly precision with their skills as a team.
Ambrose however could not be kept content for long. Soon he convinced Reigns and Rollins that they should take their abilities and use them for personal gain, founding the mercenary trio known as The Shield. The group is currently highly wanted by the Power Ponies but with the exception of Rollins they have been ordered to capture them rather than kill.
Personality: Not the most stable of individuals, Moxley Ambrose is needlessly violent many times in his missions but generally can keep it together enough to not mess up their objective. When the stallion is together in the head he has a brilliant tactical mind and is capable of taking on even the most powerful of super powered beings with his teammates and smart tactics, though of The Shield he seems to be the only one who does not always know when it is best to make a tactical retreat.
Current Home: The Shield move around a lot and typically will take up residence somewhere in wherever they are hired. Their actual headquarters is a mobile barge but this is not known to any besides themselves.
Misc: Moxley Ambrose is held to the same level of public enemy as many super villains due to his nature as a traitor to the military, his dangerous ability to counter and combat super powered ponies and his actions as leader of The Shield.

Name: Distortion

Race: Unicorn

Age: 30

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Mane: Dark blue, and very messy.

Coat: Red

Cutie mark: A judge's gavel split down the centre of its head with a jagged crack, superimposed over an image of a white unicorn horn.

Distinguishing Features: His eyes are of different colours. His right is red, while his left is blue.

Specialty: His is the magic of "twisting the rules". As a Chaos mage, he has the powerful ability to immediately influence any magic spell, so long as it exists within or enters a fixed radius from himself, exactly one time until it exits and re-enters his radius. This exertion of influence is capable of changing any of the following:

Speed: For travelling spells, the speed at which they move.
Direction: The direction in which a travelling spell moves, the polarity of a shield spell, the intended destination of a teleportation spell, etc.
Potency: Whether a lightning spell burns or tickles, whether a shield spell can take a million hits or one, whether a healing spell heals the entire body or just the arm, etc.
Duration: For limited time spells, do they last a day or a minute? Otherwise, it can be used to lower or increase casting time, or vary the rate of effect-over-time spells.

These modifiers apply for both active and passive (eg magically-aided innate health regeneration increase) spells, but passive spells can be affected any number of times within his radius, though each modification on passive spells has a time limit of an hour, at best, and he still has to expend energy to effect changes - albeit far less than the energy expenditure for active spells.

Weaknesses: The influence can only work on spells that are in a radius of a metre from him. Ergo, travelling spells cannot be affected before they enter the radius, shield spells cannot be affected until he draws near enough, teleportation spells cannot be affected unless his radius lies on the origin or destination of teleportation or between the two points, and so on.

Spells also have a basic rule behind them he cannot affect. A fire spell is meant to burn, and that is exactly what it will do - it's not going to, say, freeze anything, no matter how hard he tries to make it do that.

In addition, the more he wants to change the spell, the more energy he has to expend. For example, it is a lot harder to make an arcane blast reverse direction than it is to slightly move it off its course. The more powerful the spell, the harder it is to change as well.

Also, he only holds sway over rules of magical origin; he cannot change the direction an arrow is flying because it is not a spell. This makes him more dependent on non-chaos magic, in which he only has about average power, against non-magic-based foes.

Occupation: Magic Researcher

Gear: He wears a long grey cloak, enchanted with a small defensive and speed-boosting spell.

History: Distortion had always been different. He grew up in Canterlot, but despite his intelligence he was never attentive enough in school to do well. He believed that all the lessons were too fixed and inflexible, and from that day forward began thinking in ways that the educational system had never allowed him to. He questioned fundamentals and bases, he never dismissed any question about magic as too basic or silly, and he began thinking of ways to manipulate magic as never before.

Then, one day, after a group of students led by a Miss Cheerilee came to Canterlot from Ponyville for a learning journey through the Canterlot Gardens, he decided to take a trip of his own down to Ponyville to see what their schools were like, and how different they were from Canterlot's.

That was, of course, the day when Discord broke free. But rather than being frightened of him like most others, Distortion was intrigued by his chaos magic. And when everypony was running away from the draconequus, Distortion approached him and asked him to impart some of his knowledge.

Discord was only too happy to gain an assistant for chaos. So he imparted not only some of his knowledge but also some of his power, changing Distortion in both appearance (differently-coloured eyes) and magic ability, making him the Chaos mage he is today. In the aftermath of Discord's defeat, Distortion was somewhat unsure of what to do, but eventually turned his attention to exploring the limits of his potential. He joined the Canterlot Magic Research team and began to apply his mind to the challenges of his career. While not exactly wholly successful in this field, he discovered the full extent of his power in the process. Now, he spends much of his free time dreaming up new and creative ways to apply his talents to solve any problem he can imagine, whether it be logical or completely ludicrous.

Personality: He is mischievous and fun-loving, tending to stay away from things that bore him unless he has a good reason to do otherwise. Also, he can be very contemplative, but as befits his ability this contemplation manifests itself in lateral thinking - when he is really thinking, his train of thought is difficult to follow, but is yet logical in its own way and often surprises others in how it manages to solve a problem. However, in part due to Discord's power which affects his personality as well, a more chaotic, uncaring side of him emerges occasionally, causing him to care little about consequences and bringing up the more malicious side of his mischief.
