"well not really, my mother died when i was young, but i was very young and i think i had them even back then, i know that they developed when im faced with a large hurdle but that doesn't explain why they are being unstable, i don't wish them gone, i doubt they could be removed anyway, do you think maybe something has set them off that i cant remember or something?" she said as explanatory as possible.

"It stands as a possibility. Certain current events could be triggering repressed happenings in your past and adding to the increase in instability," Twilight mused as she tried to piece together the pieces of this puzzle herself. "We also can't rule out the prospect of magical interference in this as well. With your permission, I'd like to do a test or two myself," Twilight asked, her horn already charging up with energy if Lightning agreed to it, if not then she'd simply attend to the nearly forgotten tea she'd been serving earlier.

"sure, go for it" lightning said curiously.she then began combing her main with a comb extention on her hoof.

Receiving the go-ahead, Twilight started her spells. The first of which was to detect foreign entities in both Lightning's magical, mental, and psychological natures. Then a second one checked for any signs of corruption or discontinuity within the matrices for each, knowing that corruption of the original wouldn't pick up as a foreign entity. Then she preformed a third scanning test to double check the status of Lightning's mind for anything that might stand out from an outside perspective.

any magic iterseption of her arua in a inspective mana would pick up of a large amount of corution magic making its way through her body and even putting strain on her heart and other organs, it had indeed gotten to one of her personalitys and was having a negative effect, it also was very aparent that her personalities had there own mana sink and even could have there own inderpendent cutiemark if they had there own bodys

Smiling slightly to herself at finding the affliction so quickly, Twilight continued to examine the corruptive magic with extreme caution. She looked around for it's source, trying to find an area where it was stemming from, where it might have originated from, and what it's goal might be. She was taking all this precaution so as to hopefully not let it infect her or continue it's spread.

Whether or not she managed to find it's source or it's goal, Twilight then began trying to set up some simple barriers, so as to trap and halt the spread of this corruption.

it had seemingly no internal source, and looked as tho the corruptive magic was made of lightnings own magic, as tho cells in an infected body, and they were aggressive, as the barriers were being put up lightning winced as the almost sentient, no fully sentient magic began to infect more and more, it was made with hatred.

Wincing herself at the slightly unexpected resistance, Twilight set about changing the barriers somewhat. Trying to get them to act more like filters for the corrupted magic rather than full on barriers. Once she'd gotten a small bit caught in one of these filters, Twilight extracted the magic before it, or her own magic, could harm Lightning more.

Sample in her magical grasp, Twilight immediately set up containment spells to make sure the corruptive magic wouldn't escape into the open air. "I'll need to study this Lightning, and I may need you to come with me to at least answer some questions about it."

"oh..ok, would you like me to set up some aparatus to help analyse anything?" she asked whatching lightning

"Only if you're feeling up to it, I don't want you to strain yourself or use abnormal amounts of magic," Twilight said beginning to head towards a flight of stairs. Heading down them into the basement where several large devices already sat from prior experiments concerning magic had been conducted. Placing the contained magic into a proper container, Twilight began to set up various devises for the experiments they'd be conducting on the corrupted magic.

"twilight, what did you find?" lightning asked corsiously

"I'm not sure completely. Whatever this is, it seems to have mutated from your own magic so it uses that for the basis of it's structure. It's also aggressive, a fairly virulent contaminate, but with a bit of study we should be able to get to the core of this. Do you have any ideas where this thing could have come from though? I couldn't find it's source within you since in several ways it's still your magic." Twilight continued to set up equipment while asking these questions.

"no clue, i've never actually seen that sort of magic since when.. i was ... young. huh, twilight from what you saw did it look like it could go dormant?" she said thinking back.

"With a corruption as advanced as this, it wouldn't surprise me. It also would surprise me to find out that this may have been placed within you sometime ago, simply awaiting some kind of trigger before it turned active," Twilight went on in her preparations. Finally getting the equipment setup, Twilight hooked up the sample to the first of the large machines to begin the preliminary testing.

"may i see" lightning asked as she moved towards twilight.

Twilight looked up with a bit of surprise at somepony showing interest in her work, and then happily scooted off to the side so that Lightning could see the equipment as it ran through the initial diagnostic works.

"hmm, can we do some comparasons on this?" lightning asked

"Of course, would you want to compare it to your own magic, if we can get an uncorrupted sample, or would you rather compare it to my own?" Twilight asked as she stepped to the side and to allow Lightning more access to the machinery.

"ill need a sample of both but you need to extract the magic from my magic, and ill do from yours" she said smiling.

"Actually, I've already got samples of my own magic," Twilight said while pointing towards some other containers along a shelf and retrieving one. Grabbing up and empty one, she delicately extracted a small sample of Lightning's own magic from an un-corrupted area and placed it into another such container. Then hooking all three up to another machine so they could be properly examined in multiple aspects.

"ok so lets cross refrence the sample shall we." she said doing it anyway

Seeing Lightning already having a decent grasp of what she was doing with the equipment, Twilight just stepped back to let the mare proceed. Rather than do nothing though, Twilight proceeded with some other experiments, or at least getting the initial equipment setup and readied.

"ok.. Twilight come look at this" she said stepping to the side so twilight could see

Looking up from her work, Twilight quickly went over to the machine as well. "What did you find?" she asked, stepping over so she could inspect the display herself, already beginning to observe the processes and what had already been determined by the machine.

"ok so this is my tainted magic and if you watch the frequency its all fuzzy but watch what happens when i cross the reference with my own pure magic and extract that signal from the reading... then overlay the readings" as soon as the signal was extracted it showed a clear frequency and when over layed so as to show what the frequency looked like. they both should be canceling each other out but not it was stable. "ok now watch as i contaminat some of your magic watch the frequency" at first the signal tried to invert twilights wavelength but then rejected it.
