History: Born in Canterlot, Gytos Iratos, was mostly raised by his uncle. His father was gone and his mother worked in a boutique in town. His Uncle Veil was a stage magician, preforming 'miracles' on stage. He entertained audiences and let his favorite nephew help behind the stage. Gytos's mother passed away when he was in his teens and his uncle took custody of him. They moved around the country playing shows and street performances for years. A lot of the magic that the audience was seeing was preformed behind the scenes, made by Gytos in little bottles. He found a love in concocting simple creations that gave each trick that special smoke screen or glitter shower when thrown on stage. They were incredibly simple however and didn't satisfy his love for creation. As his Uncle Veil became older he could no longer travel and preform which he required to a nice apartment in Hoofington. Being of twenty, Gytos took his uncles travel carriage for himself and made it into a live in lab. He spent the last three years moving around Equestria collection knowledge from books, tales, and experimentation of potions creation. He makes a small living on selling medical potions out of his mobile home but most of his time is spent learning.

Personality: He is kind of an oddball. He is the type of pony to be as serious as possible and then crack a joke, or downplay a serious situation with sarcasm, or just kind of say the wrong thing. He is introverted when it comes to most things but is more than willing to talk to anyone if he needs a test subject.

Race: Panther

Cutie mark.: None

Extra details that aren’t needed but are nice to add: The two tattoos at first seem like Cutie Mark like marking but in fact are marks of his tribe. The paw above his eye marks him as a wanderer and traveller as opposed to a tribe member who moves with the main pack, while the sun tattoo marks that he was born in the summer.

Distinguishing Features: Besides his tattoos his pink nose sticks out rather sharply from his black coat, much to his annoyance.
Specialty (eg. special spells, unique powers etc): Like all panthers Lanijai is extremely accurate, capable of grounded levels of agility on par with a pegasus. His strength, while not on the level of an Earth Pony, is higher than an average pony.

Weaknesses: Like all Panthers Lanijai is immune to resistant to most drugs and poisons. Unfortunately this also means that most medicines and pain killers also have trouble working on him; panthers have a higher pain tolerance as a result but are more vulnerable to disease as a side effect.

Occupation: A scout for the Dune Cats tribe, Lanijai really has no job other than being ready to immediately return to Zebrica should his tribe need him and to report any useful or worrying information back to them.

Gear: None. Uses his claws and teeth as natural weapons.

History: Lanijai was born in Zebrica to the Dune Cats, one of the last exclusively Panther Tribes that still wandered the land. While technically in line to be chief of the Dune Cats, Lanijai relinquished his claim rather quickly since he didn't want to be chained down by the tribe and wanted to see the world.

His sister, despite clearly being a little annoyed at Lanijai dodging his responsibilities, granted his request and sent him to be the tribe's eyes and ears in Equestria. He currently lives there and makes a living doing odd jobs around Ponyville, often helping Zecora with securing ingredients that cannot be bought in town.

Personality: Lanijai is relatively laid back and, in his own words, a lazy panther who would rather doze in a comfortable tree than do anything productive. While he is perfectly capable of defending himself in combat he would rather avoid it if possible.

Extra details that aren’t needed but are nice to add: Has several scars beneath his uniform as well as a chip out of his horn.
Distinguishing Features: Wears the familiar black uniform of The Shield, in his case a flak vest and black combat pants and boots. The flak vest has hooks for a stun gun, nightstick and handcuffs on the front.
Specialty (eg. special spells, unique powers etc): Close quarters combat and neutralisation of super ponies.
Weaknesses: For all his skill Moxley Ambrose is otherwise a normal unicorn with no "super" powers of his own.
Occupation: Mercenary
Gear: The aforementioned uniform and weapons that he can attach to his vest, Moxley Ambrose usually has several other necessary tools such as a pulley and wire for scaling of buildings, a lockpicking kit, a radio for keeping in touch with his partners and has quite a collection of weaponry depending on the job in question.
History: Before the foundation of the Power Ponies and groups of their type Moxley Ambrose led a military unit known as the Hounds of Tartarus who were specially trained to find, capture and if necessary kill super powered ponies.
After Ambrose's unit was rendered redundant by the foundation of the Power Ponies and other organisations the commander was offered a place in the group for his services to the government. There he met his future comrades and partners Reigns and Rollins, with whom he formed a quick partnership and deadly precision with their skills as a team.
Ambrose however could not be kept content for long. Soon he convinced Reigns and Rollins that they should take their abilities and use them for personal gain, founding the mercenary trio known as The Shield. The group is currently highly wanted by the Power Ponies but with the exception of Rollins they have been ordered to capture them rather than kill.
Personality: Not the most stable of individuals, Moxley Ambrose is needlessly violent many times in his missions but generally can keep it together enough to not mess up their objective. When the stallion is together in the head he has a brilliant tactical mind and is capable of taking on even the most powerful of super powered beings with his teammates and smart tactics, though of The Shield he seems to be the only one who does not always know when it is best to make a tactical retreat.
Current Home: The Shield move around a lot and typically will take up residence somewhere in wherever they are hired. Their actual headquarters is a mobile barge but this is not known to any besides themselves.
Misc: Moxley Ambrose is held to the same level of public enemy as many super villains due to his nature as a traitor to the military, his dangerous ability to counter and combat super powered ponies and his actions as leader of The Shield.

When you finally get the stupid thing to stop eating your history, Obsidian, consider this character approved.

Name: Distortion

Race: Unicorn

Age: 30

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Mane: Dark blue, and very messy.

Coat: Red

Cutie mark: A judge's gavel split down the centre of its head with a jagged crack, superimposed over an image of a white unicorn horn.

Distinguishing Features: His eyes are of different colours. His right is red, while his left is blue.

Specialty: His is the magic of "twisting the rules". As a Chaos mage, he has the powerful ability to immediately influence any magic spell, so long as it exists within or enters a fixed radius from himself, exactly one time until it exits and re-enters his radius. This exertion of influence is capable of changing any of the following:

Speed: For travelling spells, the speed at which they move.
Direction: The direction in which a travelling spell moves, the polarity of a shield spell, the intended destination of a teleportation spell, etc.
Potency: Whether a lightning spell burns or tickles, whether a shield spell can take a million hits or one, whether a healing spell heals the entire body or just the arm, etc.
Duration: For limited time spells, do they last a day or a minute? Otherwise, it can be used to lower or increase casting time, or vary the rate of effect-over-time spells.

These modifiers apply for both active and passive (eg magically-aided innate health regeneration increase) spells, but passive spells can be affected any number of times within his radius, though each modification on passive spells has a time limit of an hour, at best, and he still has to expend energy to effect changes - albeit far less than the energy expenditure for active spells.

Weaknesses: The influence can only work on spells that are in a radius of a metre from him. Ergo, travelling spells cannot be affected before they enter the radius, shield spells cannot be affected until he draws near enough, teleportation spells cannot be affected unless his radius lies on the origin or destination of teleportation or between the two points, and so on.

Spells also have a basic rule behind them he cannot affect. A fire spell is meant to burn, and that is exactly what it will do - it's not going to, say, freeze anything, no matter how hard he tries to make it do that.

In addition, the more he wants to change the spell, the more energy he has to expend. For example, it is a lot harder to make an arcane blast reverse direction than it is to slightly move it off its course. The more powerful the spell, the harder it is to change as well.

Also, he only holds sway over rules of magical origin; he cannot change the direction an arrow is flying because it is not a spell. This makes him more dependent on non-chaos magic, in which he only has about average power, against non-magic-based foes.

Occupation: Magic Researcher

Gear: He wears a long grey cloak, enchanted with a small defensive and speed-boosting spell.

History: Distortion had always been different. He grew up in Canterlot, but despite his intelligence he was never attentive enough in school to do well. He believed that all the lessons were too fixed and inflexible, and from that day forward began thinking in ways that the educational system had never allowed him to. He questioned fundamentals and bases, he never dismissed any question about magic as too basic or silly, and he began thinking of ways to manipulate magic as never before.

Then, one day, after a group of students led by a Miss Cheerilee came to Canterlot from Ponyville for a learning journey through the Canterlot Gardens, he decided to take a trip of his own down to Ponyville to see what their schools were like, and how different they were from Canterlot's.

That was, of course, the day when Discord broke free. But rather than being frightened of him like most others, Distortion was intrigued by his chaos magic. And when everypony was running away from the draconequus, Distortion approached him and asked him to impart some of his knowledge.

Discord was only too happy to gain an assistant for chaos. So he imparted not only some of his knowledge but also some of his power, changing Distortion in both appearance (differently-coloured eyes) and magic ability, making him the Chaos mage he is today. In the aftermath of Discord's defeat, Distortion was somewhat unsure of what to do, but eventually turned his attention to exploring the limits of his potential. He joined the Canterlot Magic Research team and began to apply his mind to the challenges of his career. While not exactly wholly successful in this field, he discovered the full extent of his power in the process. Now, he spends much of his free time dreaming up new and creative ways to apply his talents to solve any problem he can imagine, whether it be logical or completely ludicrous.

Personality: He is mischievous and fun-loving, tending to stay away from things that bore him unless he has a good reason to do otherwise. Also, he can be very contemplative, but as befits his ability this contemplation manifests itself in lateral thinking - when he is really thinking, his train of thought is difficult to follow, but is yet logical in its own way and often surprises others in how it manages to solve a problem. However, in part due to Discord's power which affects his personality as well, a more chaotic, uncaring side of him emerges occasionally, causing him to care little about consequences and bringing up the more malicious side of his mischief.

Name: Phoebe Matriciani

Race: Unicorn

Mane
Phoebe’s mane is long and pure white, often seen tied up into braided pigtails as to keep them “in check” as she calls it.

Coat
Phoebe’s coat is a deep shade of Prussian Blue. With strands that are somewhat longer than what would be found on the average pony. Something she takes some pride in as it makes her “fluffier”.

Cutie Mark
Phoebe’s cutie mark is a representation of both her love of cooking, and her love for scaring. Thus, her cutie mark took on the form of a strange, tentacled monster seemingly made from spaghetti.

Distinguishing Features
Her Cutie Mark and Mannerisms are the two most distinguishing features about her. The former being downright strange, resembling some kinda monster made of pasta. Her mannerisms has also raised a few eyebrows, and sometimes even the ire of those she comes in contact with.

Speciality
She is a cook, and a very skilled one at that. Being that she shares her adoptive father’s view that culinary prowess is a form of art, she treats it with remarkable respect, and has thus become one of the top chefs in her immediate area.

While not nearly as skilled with the pen as she is with the skillet, Phoebe is very fond of writing, and spends the majority of her day jotting down any and all ideas that come to mind. She is particularly fond of scary stories, and if her adoptive parents and the few critics she has managed to attract the attention of are to be believed, her stories are legitimately scary, much to her everlasting pride.

In later years, she has gotten rather skilled when it comes to magic. And while it is the kind of magic that does leave some negative side effects in their wake. That is, dark magic. Phoebe has proved herself remarkably able to put any and all retrusive impulses at bay.

Weakness
With regards to fighting: While she is rather skilled at magic, her stamina is nothing short of pathetic. Her whole strategy when fighting is to keep the attacker as far away as possible, using magic and otherwise any means necessary from keeping them from landing a blow. Because she is well aware that it doesn’t take much physical trauma before she bites the dust.

With regards to character: While she is a genuinely nice and caring pony, she does carry a number of unwanted qualities. Such quality include being clumsy, occasionally rude, easily stressed out, outright hostile to those she deems below her. She also does not have particularly high self esteem, which she masks mostly through rambunctious rhetoric and energetic body language. She is impatient, very much so. A negative personality trait she is barely able to suppress with regards to cooking.

Occupation
Phoebe currently works full time at her adoptive parents’ restaurant; ‘L'Astrologia’. While the work there can be stressful and even gruelling, she has always managed to set time aside for writing. While she is a published author, she has not made particularly big money off her writings.

Gear
Most of the time, Phoebe carries around the Ars Phantasmagorica. She’s often seen with some kitchen utilities on her, though this is somewhat rarer. She has a round pair of reading glasses, which she continuously carries on her muzzle. A cloak, for whenever she likes to dress up or scare somepony, though she doesn’t take it on often.

History
Born at Queen’s Cross Hospital, Canterlot, and being the only child of Manehattenite entertainers Carabet and Stravaganza, Phoebe’s earliest years were marked by the conventional family happy life, and all the implications that came with it. At least, that was the case for her until age 3. The family hit a time of economic difficulties, and her parents divorced. Stravaganza left a little while afterwards, leaving Phoebe to her mother. The latter eventually succumbing to health issues brought on by the stress that came with having to juggle being an entertainer and a single mother, Carabet eventually died, and her daughter was orphaned at the age of 4.

During her two years in the orphanage, it became clear to the institution that Phoebe was quite the odd pony. She had vehemently kept her parent’s way of speaking, leaving her with a strong Manehattenite (New Yorker) accent amongst the Canteloin children. Alienated by her fellow orphans on the grounds of being “strange” – a moniker she happily indulged herself in –, Phoebe somewhat withdrew inwards. She kept herself to reading books , and she eventually developed a taste for the scarier stuff, which she eventually set out to try and write herself. She still has those first few ‘scary’ stories of hers, and while she scoffs at the quality, she can’t help but feel nostalgic for the admittedly good times she had at the orphanage.

Shortly after the girl turned 6 however, her life would take a turn. Her Solar Majesty’s Orphanage were visited by a couple of very prestigious Canterloin Chefs and restaurant owners; Emilia and Venice Matriciani. Emilia – who was unable to bear children of her own – had been insisting, much to her husband’s irritation, that the two of them adopt a child. Reluctantly, he agreed. Eventually – most likely out of pure, dumb luck – Phoebe was picked and adopted into the prestigious Matriciani family.

Emilia, was the single most loving character Phoebe ever had the joy of knowing. A supporting, kind and gentle soul that loved the Manehattenite like she would her own daughter. Venice – not being very fond of kids in the first place – was on the other hand a bit more reluctant to shower his new daughter with love. Which was understandable, Phoebe was by no means a well-behaved child. She was rambunctious, loud-mouthed, rude, and very prone to talking back whenever she got angry. But despite the initial discord between Venice and Phoebe, the two eventually warmed up to each other. So much so that for her 15th birthday, Venice named her the successor to the old stallion’s restaurant. With Phoebe having taken up cooking as a life passion, she was nothing short of overjoyed. Her two passions, writing and cooking, becoming somewhat intertwined, Phoebe’s cutie mark turned out to be a representation of both, becoming an eldritch-esque creature made from pasta. Which would serve as a source of amusement for the family for the coming years.

However, all was not entirely well for Phoebe. For as much as she loved, and for as talented as she was with cooking and writing, her magical prowess was at best sub-par. Which became a source of much frustration and emotional distress for the otherwise cheerful pony. When she eventually reached the age of 16, she decided that enough was enough. Through little more than sheer will power, Phoebe had painstakingly improved her magical prowess. Having compiled all of her notes and studies into a book, she decided to christen it the “Ars Phantasmagorica”, a little homage to her love for scary stories, and to her biological parents.

As it later turned out, the magic Phoebe had been practicing wasn’t all “clean” that is, a lot of it was downright dark magic. The magical arts that base themselves in negative emotions, primarily fear. With Phoebe having developed a love for scaring ponies, she thought this a great way to improve her magical prowess. There was one thing, that she had not been expecting. One saturday evening, when she was out training her magical prowess, she had decided to try out a necromancer’s spell. A magical incantation that would bring a spirit back from beyond the grave. Simply put, it didn’t work out as planned. Instead of reviving a “dead guy” as she so eloquently put it, she ended up creating something entirely new. As a result, the “Ars Phantasmagorica”, which she was carrying around at the time, was granted some manner of sentience, developing a buffoonish, smart-aleck of a persona. This new personality, was however only able to speak through touch telepathy, retaining only permanent mental contact with Phoebe, leading to many a sleepless nights...

Personality
Phoebe is, for lack of a better term; goofy. She has an awful tendency to narrate out loud to herself. Her tendency to bounce around in somewhat patterns certainly doesn’t help her “wierd” stamp. She has no patience for subtlety, whether her own or that of others. Only forcing herself to be subtle whenever something within her work calls for it, and even then she barely manages. While she genuinely wants to befriend the ponies she meets, she is often times downright despicable to those who have rubbed her the wrong way. Though, raising Phoebe’s ire is a thankfully rare occurrence.

Current Residence
Phoebe currently lives in Canterlot, not to far from the resturant in which she works. While she has been saving up money to get her own place, she still lives with her adopted parents.

Distinguishing Features: Her wings are two different colours, shes got a bionic left front hoof, and her right eye is covered with an eye patch, with an easily visible scar protruding from beneath.

Specialty(eg. special spells, unique powers etc): While young, Lightning wished to be like her parents and so she devoted a lot of time to developing a few skills possessed by each of them. Like her father she can use magic, but not of the same level, she can form a ball of energy that she can shoot, though Lightning's are channeled through some augmentations on her hooves and are more unstable and often explode, the balls properties a volatile and magnetic. Alongside this, she often helped her father with his machines and even her first bionic hoof.This gives her an edge with mechanics and such due to the need for a new one every month as she wears through them quickly. Lightning has enhanced hearing, and night vision. Following in her adoptive mother's hoofsteps, Lightning also has a close connection with nature and a talent for gardening and caring for the ill and injured, be it pony or critter.

Weaknesses: Since her incident as a filly she has been very susceptible to lightning and simple electricity, also, due to that very incident she has night terrors and has been known to have fairly bad panic and anxiety attacks. Lightning's also blind in one eye and her bionic limb does limit her abilities to some extent dew to its weight. The explosions from the magic orbs are a constant hazard. Also her hearing, being so sensitive, can be a risk.

Occupation: She develops bionic limbs for those who needs them, often for free, but sometimes for a small fee, she can on occasion though adventure into the realms of full blown engineering.

Gear: Her bionic hoof, an eye patch that is kited out with sensors that relay to a chip in her eye socket. Her bionic hoof can be home to numerous odd items in a small compartment.

History: She was born in the old Lunar Republic, a city designed to be the new capital when Nightmare Moon took full control but when she failed, the city was just to be a new/refugee city. Soon, it became the hub for the thestral race. She was brought up in Trottingham. whilst there she toyed with the power of lightning and magnetism which lead to a disaster. While fitting a pylon, it was struck by an abnormal lightning bolt made more of magic than electricity. The charge coursed down her hoof but met with her internal magic, the collision blew her left forehoof to pieces, the remnants of the unstable magic got to her eye and blinded her right eye.
When she was 6 her mother died after struggling with the disease 'venenum animae' it was more that her very life force was tainted. A unicorn with a hatred of all things thestral attacked the market. They were stopped, but Lightning's mother was hit by the spell, it was more of a hex but either way she died about 5 months later. It was a very sadistic spell, it spreads like a malignant cancer, and she slowly just died and soon after her father vanished her father vanished. She was moved to Cloudsdale orphanage where she used what she learnt from her dad to build a bionic hoof.
After being bullied and ridiculed at the orphanage she dived off the edge whilst above Ponyville. With her moderate flying ability, she glided to the ground but got trapped by the crowds of the market and got scared. Whilst backing off, a single kind loving mare helped her out of the crowd and took her home. Lightning told her all about what happened, the mare took her to the orphanage, but at the last second as a surprise she adopted the odd filly. In the same year, her father turned up and after being asked by Lightning's adoptive mother he moved in with them. Throughout the next 8 years, she did many many things: building a giant robot that was only programed to be scary and watch as ponies pass to stop her bullies but a malfunction sent it on a path of destruction for instance.

Personality: Neutral good: she's very tidy but can act sporadically.

Current Home: She ventures all over, but still technically lives at home with her mother and father

Distinguishing Features: None.

Specialty (eg. special spells, unique powers etc.): He is a talented ship captain, as well as a great fighter, using a combination of skill and speed. He is also a halfway decent shot.

Weaknesses: He isn't a good flyer, thus limiting him to the ground when it comes to fights. It also doesn't take much to beat him in a fight of strength, or even a hand to hand fight.

Occupation: He is a ship captain, but with no ship, so he, more or less, has no job.

Gear: He carries a long cutlass, as well as four blunderbuss pistols strapped to his chest. He also wears a black redingote.

History: Graham grew up near the sea, in the gryphon kingdoms, to a rich family. Though his family were mostly stuck up, and snobbish, Graham wasn't the same; he was friendly, and just a tad but odd. He also had an affinity for the sea, often envying sailors who would dock near his home. Thus began his want to be a sailor, specifically a pirate, of sorts. So, as soon as he reached the age of 16, he purchased a personal sword trainer, as well as a small Brig, with his families money. He then spent the next 5 five years training in swordplay, purchasing both swords, and pistols, and making his ship, which he called the "Yellowjacket", battle-worthy. He then recruited some local mercenaries to be his crew, then set off, without telling anyone. He set sails for Equestria, thinking that whatever ships he could find in those waters would make for easy pickings. Along the way, he made sure that he had his crews respect, attempting to bond with them, while still acting like a leader. The crew, however, didn't like him much, often thinking that he wasn't cut out for the life of piracy. This was solidified when they reached Equestria, and Graham ordered an attack on a Equestrian Galleon. The crew barely survived, and their ship faired no better. So, the crew decided that they would dump him the first chance they had; opting not to maroon him, as they did admire his bravery, and admitted that he wasn't a bad fighter. So, dump him they did, when they suggested they dock at Baltimare, convinced him to visit a tavern and relax, then set off without him. When he realized his crews betrayal, he wasn't angry. He, in fact, was relatively alright with their actions. He decided that he needed some more life experience so that he could be a better captain, and that he would get that experience by traveling Equestria.

Personality: He is incredibly friendly to most everyone he meets, and always remains gentlemanly, as well as cheerful, in most any situation, even when someone is trying to kill him. He is also fairly eccentric in his day-to-day mannerisms. Also, no matter the situation, he is incredibly slow to anger, only ever getting angry at the worst of things.

Specialty: Matchmaking, her natural ability to see who likes who and their compatability. Her barriers and levitational abilities are quite good, among the best but nowhere near the best. She also has quite the skill with using scents to calm or excite others, she commonly uses it to keep people from fighting, preventing any quarrels. She also uses it to help others relax.

Weaknesses: Though she has a massive pool of mana, being an alicorn, she only has basic knowledge of magic; Barriers, Levitation, and other simple things. Though she has pegasi's flight and weather control, and an Earth Pony's skill with plants and strength, she is rather weak in flight, and not the strongest, not good with plants and not good with clouds.

Occupation: Gryphos Noble, aka Unemployed

Gear: A small silver circlet a gryphon made for her. Nothing much else besides a notebook and a few quills and ink jars, and, of course, lots of bits.

History: Born to a unicorn mother and pegasus father, in the capitol of the Gryphon Kingdom, Venus was quite the oddity as a natural born Alicorn, the only one in the land of the Gryphon Kingdom. She grew up treated like a princess, but at age 14, her parents were killed by diamond dog slavers. A Gryphos noble adopted her, and she was quite happy with her new family, especially her new sister, Allure. Allure and Venus became great friends, teaching each other how to watch body langauge and protect themselves from drunken idiots with lust-addled brains. Venus was sent to Prance for a week, Allure said it was a test to see if she could handle herself alone, but Venus came back, fluent in the lngauge and with an accent, not light, but not a heavy one either. She has met The Alicorn Sisters once, at a meeting of nobles, and they were intrigued with her, and Venus promised to visit Canterlot eventually. Venus did visit, and currently lives in Canterlot. She is treated like a princess but constantly denies being one, though she loves being called "Lady Venus".

Gear: A curled watering can that seems to be enchanted to create a endless stream of water as long as she is the one watering the flowers.
History: Jasmine lead fairly quiet life growing up as the daughter of Trotingham's Botanical Gardener and biggest floral magazine writer, she never had trouble finding her calling since it was a family specialty. Flower growing, flower planting, watering, picking, selling, these were normal traits of just about any and everyone in her family. At age 17 on her parents gave her 1,111 bits and told her to go find herself. A week later she was running a abnormally successful floral arrangement, and gardening tool company.

Race: Pegasus Age: 31 Alignment: Chaotic Good Mane: Edda keeps his mane combed back, its hue a mix of light and dark cyan sections, similarly, he keeps his tail in the same fashion. Coat: Typically a bright shade of turquoise whilst in his normal state, though some have reported him taking on a darker shade whilst in his "depressed" mode. He does keep it decently brushed though. Cutie mark.: A simple mask meant to cover the upper half of the face, the left side gold and the right have silver. The line in the middle of the two is rather blurred. Extra details that aren’t needed but are nice to add: Distinguishing Features: The smell of alcohol on his breath, if nothing else. Specialty (eg. special spells, unique powers etc): Edda himself specializes in storytelling, both writing and orally reciting numerous tales of various genres. Additionally, he shows some talent in acting and the art of disguise, often put to use to give his oral deliveries a little bit more flair. Given his propensity for constant travel, Edda's picked up a few bits of self-defense here and there. As such, he's got some experience in plain old hoofticuffs, as well as using plenty of improvised weapons, primarily as clubs of various sizes (whether it be the leg off a barstool, a candlestick, or a sturdy piece of pipe). His fighting style depends primarily on agility, getting in a few surprise hits as hard as possible, cheap shots, and running off as soon as the enemy is stunned or distracted. Maretropolis Bonus: Whilst in Maretropolis roleplays, or similarly high power tier RPs, Edda's combat abilities extend out much further, turning him into an archetypical trickster. He's incredibly nimble and quick, and will utilize any aspect of the environment to his advantage, though he will hold back from actual killing (unless he's in "Dark Edda" mode, then all bets are off). Like many "powerless" heroes, he'll utilize gadgets and tools to get the job done, though he doesn't actually own any real gadgets himself. Still, a bottle of scotch and a match go together great applied liberally a supervillain. He’d still rank pretty low on the scale of power levels, but he’d at least try to fight, as opposed to what most civilians do. Weaknesses:* Edda is a hard-drinking alcoholic and will begin to suffer signs of withdrawal around 8 hours without any sort of alcohol in his system, which will worsen as time goes on; this includes, but is not limited to, heightened anxiety, fatigue, or irritability, cold sweats, headaches, nausea, and in extreme cases of withdrawal, possible seizures or delirium. He's also willing to do a lot to get a good drink of the stuff, especially when undergoing these symptoms. The other side of the coin is about as bad, considering that it involves regularly drinking to at least some degree, and oftentimes involves drinking to excess. He's not exactly good at taking hits, weighing a little less than average and not having much besides his bony form to take the brunt of a hit. His only real defense in a fight is not getting hit.	Occupation: Writer Gear: If available, Edda will always begin any given thread with at least a bottle or two of some kind of hard whiskey. Personality: As hinted at numerous times in the biography thus far, Edda has some serious mental issues, the product of which has been called "Dark Edda" a few times. This is not some split personality though, merely a symptom of bipolar disorder (if you want me to give you a specific diagnosis, I'd say...Md ultradian cycling bipolar disorder. Essentially, high levels of mania are followed by low-level depression, and these cycles can occur and complete within a single day). He's fully conscious of this dark side and it is most certainly Edda in control of his actions. The only real difference is that they hold different attitudes and temperaments, whilst sharing knowledge, skills, memories, etc. Edda is most oft to be found in a rather neutral state moodwise, though he sometimes enters into light depression; he tends to deal with the latter via liberal application of alcohol. In this state, he's rather approachable, though he's rarely the one to start up social interactions, as he's gifted with a certain degree of shyness. He's relatively level-headed (or at least tries to be), and usually just tries to go along with whatever anyone tells him to do. When he's in a manic state, however, he's considerably less stable. He's excitable, and some might call that a positive thing, but it also means most of his other emotions are amplified as well. He becomes so irritable that he'll lash out at even the slightest provocation, though his attention span isn't exactly too long either, so the anger is likely to last for just a few moments before he settles on some topic completely unrelated. He tends to have delusional and psychotic episodes in this state, as he flies through emotions and thoughts faster than logic could ever dare to move and doesn’t really care about anypony else. The only definitive thing about his mania is that he will not calm the frig down, so probably putting him away for an hour or two would be effective, just so that he gets out of the manic state. Current Home: Tenant in Ponyville, though I wouldn't be surprised if he moved around a bit every now and then. History: In his younger years, Edda lived a life with few problems and no real worries, like many youths. The big problems of the world didn't matter so much, and he never really had to deal with too many jerks. But ponies grow up and hormones oftentimes get the best of them. At the ripe young age of eight, Edda spent a week locked in his own room entirely by his own will after missing a deadline for a school project. Questions were asked, and after a while the colt was diagnosed with clinical depression. The only recourse was therapy, really, and it was suggested to him that perhaps he could write, to let some of those feelings out. To air out the dirty laundry, one might say. The boy never could have suspected that his parents would divorce within a year. Or that his mother would just leave him behind so cruelly. He stayed in his room for a month, constantly blaming himself for her distaste with the family. He drew pictures on the walls and floor, all of them crude caricatures designed specifically to mock him. To insult him. It took nearly half a year to clean up those physical scars of his mother's leaving, and another half beyond that to somewhat mend the scars upon his psyche. The next year (age 10 now) managed to pass without incident, he started spending plenty of time with his friends, playing a game called "Caverns & Cockatrices." It was a once-a-week thing for him, and he spent every weekend just visiting friends' houses and playing the childish game. Several campaigns through and all seemed well enough, he hadn't had any sort of problem in an eternity, when it all came crashing down. A week after his eleventh birthday, he leapt across the table in the middle of a game and started beating up one of his the other players. A couple of other kids managed to pull him off, but not after he left the other one with a black eye. The incident was quietly filed away, everyone involved hoped it would never happen again, and Edda never, ever played Caverns & Cockatrices again. His diagnosis was shortly revised to bipolar disorder, and given the length of time he’d been afflicted with mania (only a few days, starting on the day of the assault), it seemed that his cycles had grown shorter and shorter, and more and more unpredictable, as he’d grown. Perhaps for the worst, financial troubles were making it difficult for Edda’s father to deal with buying medication to keep the boy sedate, and just dealing with stress at work and no real respite at home drove him to drink. It did not take long for Edda to start imitating his father, and most evenings over the next few years were spent sharing a bottle or two between the pair. In more recent years, Edda’s managed to make it as a small-time writer, writing short stories for magazines. He uses it as both an outlet for his feelings as as just a way to waste his time, as he often writes simply out of the habit of writing, most often with a good bottle of liquor right next to him.

Name: Phantom Tears

Race: Shade Thestral, Shades are creatures that sell a portion of their soul to a demon of the shadows in exchange for magical powers and eternal life. They lose most if not all of their memory of being mortal and are usually assassins and or thieves. They are generally disliked by society and tend to work alone. Most shades sell part of their souls while they are still alive, but a few make a deal while on the brink of death, leading some ponies to believe that shades are undead and similar to ghosts.

Age: Unknown, appears early to mid twenties

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Mane: deep grey, undulating, mid-length

Coat: deep grey, holds to the general shape of a stallion but shifts

Specialty (eg. special spells, unique powers etc): Control of shadows and darkness, master assassin and thief. Can make weapons from shadow and hurl balls of dark energy. Can merge with shadows to make himself larger and more powerful. Can become 2D and slip between cracks and under doors. Immune to poisons. Can only be hit by magic or magic enhanced items, everything else phases through him.

Weaknesses: Extremely susceptible to light, natural and artificial. If he loses focus while combined with foreign shadows he will begin to dissolve into the shadow and could die. Appearance makes it impossible for him to blend in with normal ponies. Can only operate at night or with heavy cloud cover.

Occupation: Ex-assassin and thief, now a member of the power ponies, mostly to preserve himself

Gear: Heavy black cloak with a face mask, allows him to go out in the light but his powers are useless in it

History: He cannot remember any of his mortal life nor can he remember how long he has been a shade. After a near death experience while fighting a pony with light powers, he decided to become one of the good guys in the hopes that it would help him preserve his own life. He has very little compassion and mostly looks out for himself, choosing to take on solo missions rather than join the other Power Ponies on missions that require a team. He will assist however if there is a worthy reward, such as a priceless artifact or the glory of killing a famous or infamous figure.

Personality: Self-confident, puts his own needs and desires above others, faithful as long as it suits his needs

Current Home: Power Ponies base

Misc: Does not need to eat, drink, or sleep, but occasionally will to kill time or just for the sake of tasting something. Cannot get intoxicated, much to his chagrin sometimes. Mostly relies on stealth and sneak attacks, but could hold his own in a fight against an average pony.
