Name: Baron Gustav Gross

Race: Griffon

Age: 42

Feathers: Kestrel - light gray on the head, black primaries, tan secondaries with a black diamond pattern.

Fur: Dark gray, with a black tail tuft.

Extra details that aren't needed but are nice to add: Iris the color of tarnished gold, a long and thin handlebar mustache.

Distinguishing Features: A face covered in dueling scars, including an empty right eye socket; left talon replaced with a steel hook.

Specialty (eg. special spells, unique powers etc): His main advantage is his vast personal wealth and keen understanding of how to most effectively use it to get what he wants. However, he is also a skilled duelist with both blades and firearms and a masterful pilot.

Weaknesses: His arrogance leads him to fall for many simple tricks that someone of his intelligence really shouldn't fall for (e.g., telling him to look behind him when he's holding you at gunpoint is a certain way to get him to steadfastly ignore anything happening behind him). While he is generally in good health, his various dueling injuries can seriously impair him at times.

Occupation: Treasure hunter

Gear: He typically wears a suit with a top hat. However, he regularly adopts the Khaki Drill uniform in less comfortable environments, with either a pith helmet or a leather aviator helmet. He always carries a straight saber with him, and he also carries a revolver in more modern-tech settings.

History: Gustav was born into a wealthy (if minor and not really respected) noble family in Griffonstone. Despite (or maybe because of) his and lavish work-free upbringing, he was never a very well-adjusted chick, even by griffon standards, regularly getting into fights with other griffons and stealing anything he wanted from them - much to the disapproval of his parents. When they suddenly disappeared without explanation shortly after his eighteenth birthday, he inherited their vast fortune and quickly set about expanding it, by any means available to him.

Personality: Arrogant, generally cunning (when not being sabotaged by his own hubris), excessively avaricious even by griffon standards, and exceedingly un-empathetic.

It's always a wonder how you end up making such dramatic or intense characters for an MLP setting when they could use more hugs and friendship, but otherwise approved. Only surprise here this time is the short backstory compared to the others, but further expansion is purely optional at this point.

Name: Fruity Loop

Race: Vampony (Earth Pony when disguised)

Age: 200 (Appearance in the early 30s)

Mane: Ocean blue & jade green, freely flowing

Coat: Beige Gray

Distinguishing Features: Close inspection would reveal fangs in her teeth, usually wears a bonnet when entertaining guests.

Specialty (eg. special spells, unique powers etc): Ageless, able to walk outside during the day unlike her progenitor, grows stronger during the night, strength, speed and durability beyond regular ponies, slight mind control abilities (More akin to just being really charismatic).

Weaknesses: Sunlight weakens her, inexperienced with her abilities, hasn't quite realized that not being able to die of old age isn't the same as immortality, bit of a flirt when not needed, has yet to learn some abilities and perfect others, doesn't blend in as well as she could with the younger crowds.

Occupation: Vampire Fruit Bat Researcher (Officially), Vampony Family Nurturer (Actual job)

Gear: White bonnet, binoculars, notepad and pens. Various dresses for "late night ventures into town"

History: In her old life, Fruity was a simple farmsmare originating from one of the various farmlands surrounding the (At the time) small town of Fillydelphia with an inquisitive personality and a good judge of character. Her life would be turned on its head after a date went horribly wrong (Or right depending on who you ask) with a charming noblestallion who called himself Count. She'd been taken aback by his fascination with a simple farmpony. They clicked (Or so she thought) quickly and things progressed even more so.

When she woke up, she found her life in shambles due to her involuntary transformation, her family horrified at what she had become and tried to kill their daughter-turned-vampony. In self-defence, she took the lives of his parents and younger sister, but to her curiosity, she felt no remorse. No shame. No pity. What she felt was adulation, like a weight had been taken off her shoulders. She was now free to do as she pleased, unrestrained by such things as "morality" and "laws". To this day, she hasn't figured out if it was always how she felt or if her transformation was causing her thinking to be altered. Count, or Father as he wanted to be known from now on, showed her a new side to life among ponies, a red carpet had been laid out for her and now she had to prove she could strut her stuff. Fruity's family had grown immensely, to a coven of 12, led by the Father in secret among the Sire's Hollow ponies.

Such a family would not be easy to feed, and her unique ability of being able to stand in direct sunlight due to her Earth Pony endurance would be put to use. She would go and keep up appearances under the guise of a fauna researcher, complete with a faked doctorate. She would locate ponies all over Equestria and those found worthy would become her brothers and sisters, while the ones who are found lacking would sustain them. Over the centuries she would grow accustomed to her new life, her old one all but forgotten. There was no longer a past. There was only the Father and her kin.

Personality: Somewhat old-fashioned due to her age and lack of interaction with ponies as a result of her job. Bit inexperienced at the more amorous aspects of the coven's activities, she works hard on perfecting it to please the Father, to the point of overdoing it on occasion. Flirty at the regular parties her father hosts, but also observant when it comes to finding suitable candidates to invite to their family soirées. Has a particular dislike for modern music.

Specialty (eg. special spells, unique powers etc): Possesses no powers, appears as a tall powerful amazon-esc figure. Greatest strength other than physical prowess is remarkably high intelligence. Almost photographic memory

Weakness: Can be injured just like any other pony. Her optimism and determination leads her to be overzealous and impulsive when achieving a task.

Gear: A light uniform, belt, boots and whatever weapon she has (Great-sword for a fantasy setting, pistol for a modern setting)

Occupation: Senior Police Officer

History: From a young age, Winter Rush was a black sheep within her family. While her parents wanted her to put her academic abilities or feminine beauty to good use, Winter would frequently step out of their comfort zone and pursue her own path with more masculine interests. Harboring a natural sense of justice and an optimistic ideal that she can make a positive difference, Winter sought to pursue her dream to become a Police Officer. Growing up, despite the sharp difference between her own ideals and the rest of her family, she would ultimately become estranged from her parents following the untimely death of her older sister.

Despite the feeling that the world was acting against her, Winter sought to pursue her dreams with determination. She trained both physically and mentally under intense circumstances and had spent almost her entire life fighting for what was right, even if the world seemed to tell her that it was wrong. Her sense of courage, justice and optimism would ultimately become rewarded as she would achieve her goal. Now she serves the law and the people, protecting the weak and helping her community in whatever way she can

Personality: Despite her rather intimidating figure for a mare, Winter is a ray of sunshine behind a cloudy day. She is well known for her optimistic drive to help others. She is selfless and always looking to protect those close to her or even total strangers, along with caring deeply about the well-being of others.

Distinguishing Features: Usually wears what looks like a metallic horn strapped onto her head, where a unicorn horn would ordinarily be.

Specialty (eg. special spells, unique powers etc): Proficiency in mechanical and magical engineering; otherwise relies on her gear

Weaknesses: Reliant on gear, ordinary otherwise, physically weaker than most earth ponies

Occupation: Self-employed inventor and engineer, relies on odd jobs and government grants

Gear: Lotus’ signature gear is her artificial horn (lovingly named ‘Sixty’ after the number of times it took her to get it to work) which enables her to use telekinetic magic. The results Lotus is capable of outputting with it exceed that of ordinary unicorns in terms of sheer power, although the more strength she tries to use with it, the more quickly she tires out. Through long periods of usage and training with the single spell available to her, Lotus has managed to improve her resilience to magic-induced fatigue greatly, but her endurance is not infinite and prolonged periods of serious exertion must inevitably be followed with long periods of rest. Since Sixty has been designed for Lotus’ own specifications, both physical and with regards to her magical potential, it tends to either not work or work with too much intensity if used by anyone but her.

One of Lotus’ other favourite multipurpose tools is a magical matter projector, which converts magic energy into up to a cubic metre of matter temporarily. Lotus uses this for a variety of purposes, including cutlery, umbrellas, and occasionally even clothing, in the rare instances where she ends up needing it. Since this, like Sixty, has a gradual draining effect on Lotus, she tries to avoid manifesting too much matter for too long a period of time.

Lotus also carries around a pocket magnifying glass resembling a very thick monocle, either in her saddlebags, pockets, or around her neck in a chain. By adding or removing thin but powerful lenses, the magnifying glass can achieve a magnification of up to 30 times or a minimum magnification of, well, zero, if all the lenses are removed. Lotus uses it often in her work but usually brings it around with her wherever she goes, either to observe things up close out of boundless curiosity or simply because she forgot to leave it at home. Attached to the magnifying glass is a small magic light with which to illuminate objects under observation.

History: Lotus was born in Canterlot to two unicorn parents. She was the only earth pony in her family of six, and in her unicorn-dominated Canterlotian society she found herself an odd one out. Although she never personally experienced the sort of species discrimination others complained about, she had difficulties fitting into unicorn social circles, where magic played an active role in their experiences and discussions. On the flip side, she was never able to fit into the close-knit earth pony groups in Canterlot, partly because her family didn’t have the same generational roots in earth-pony-dom that other earth ponies did, and partly because she herself never felt comfortable around them. Although she did not resent them, Lotus did not find with them what she would later realise she was actually looking for - an obsession with the arcane.

Over time, Lotus came to seek the unicorn magic that chance had deprived her of. Apart from her formal studies, which was oriented towards mechanical engineering, she studied magic theory and application during her free time, working with sympathetic teachers and professors who were willing to tutor her on the side. Despite her less-than-enthusiastic approach to the laborious task of reading textbooks, papers, and other boring academic artifacts, her determination and talent with practical experimentation earned her a well-deserved proficiency in both her formal and on-the-side education. At the age of 17, after a raft of failures, Lotus finally succeeded in creating a rudimentary magic-conversion artifact which harnessed her innate earth pony magic to cast spells - or, in particular, a single spell: telekinesis, the most mundane and widespread form of magic in Equestria. Nonetheless, to Lotus, her success was the greatest breakthrough of her life, and she would wear her artifact (modelled after a horn) everywhere she went with the utmost pride.

Since that day, Lotus’ efforts have been focused on expanding her magical horizons in any way she can manage. Although she does enjoy ordinary mechanical engineering, which is a much more practical (and more importantly, lucrative) discipline that earns her the bulk of her income, magical engineering is her true passion and life’s calling - even if she hasn’t yet found a way to make her particular breakthroughs widely profitable.

Personality: As a result of her early life, Lotus is somewhat socially awkward and tends to be an introvert. She does her best thinking when she’s in her own head, rather than talking to others. Nonetheless, she has a pleasant demeanour and tries to be as friendly as she can manage, even if such efforts may sometimes come across as awkward. When engaged in her passions and interests, however, Lotus becomes a wellspring of talkativeness, at least until she stops herself.

Although Lotus is no stranger to books and theory, she very much prefers to conduct her work and learning through hoofs-on work and intuition. Reading takes her a longer time compared to other tasks, and often one can find her with her eyes glazed over, mindlessly flipping through pages, only not to remember what was on them. It is fortunate for her, therefore, that she tends to grasp many important concepts intuitively, which allows her to skip a lot of what would otherwise be necessary and painfully dreary reading.

It's a rare distinction to welcome both a new member and their character these days, but never stops to be a delightful one when they make a good impression right off the bat in terms of abilities and background... I would only advise caution and agreements beforehand when playing with unicorn and magic using players in general regarding what constitutes average based on the show and one's own knowledge, but aside from that caveat it's approved.

Distinguishing Features: Rocking an artificial right wing.
Specialty (eg. special spells, unique powers etc): A skilled Photokineticist, Sunshine can bend light to her will to such an extent that it’s only limited by her imagination. Examples include blasts of hard-light, forming constructs such as swords, shields, and other weapons, bending light to create illusions, and even bending the light around her to become invisible. Practicing some pyrokinesis as well has left her with a few other abilities as well, such as extreme heat resistance and limited plasma control.
Weaknesses: Being a pegasus means all the strain from using these powers gets put on her body, in contrast to a unicorn putting the strain on their mind. She can only exert herself so far before her body literally gives out from the strain she puts on it. The best she can do to mitigate this is by spending time absorbing sunlight into her body and converting it into energy she can use later, like some weird form of photosynthesis.
Occupation: Freelance adventurer, mercenary, part-time bartender.
Gear: Whatever she's picked up on her adventures.
History: Coming from a world somewhat familiar, but very different, Sunshine found her talent in manipulating light at a very early age. This soon led to an accident that cost her one of her wings, rendering her flightless for her fillyhood years. When she grew up, she spent her days exploring with her friends.

Then one day she stumbled upon a door that shouldn’t be there. Through that door was a room that shouldn’t exist. In the center of it was a crystal that seemed to bend space itself. She soon learned that the room she found was some sort of pocket dimension, and the crystal was used to travel between universes. So she and her friends did what anypony would do with just an earth-shattering discovery - they turned it into a bar. Then they started going on adventures in completely different universes. Sunny even found somewhere she could get a functioning prosthetic wing and finally learned to fly.

Of course, being in such close proximity to the crystal for a long time had another unintended effect. They were bonded to it somehow. They stopped aging, were able to summon the door to them wherever they were, and for some reason they kept waking up next to it with a big gap in their recent memory. It turns out the crystal wouldn’t let any of them actually die. So they resigned themselves to an eternity of friendship and adventure. Not the worst fate, all things considered. At least they had each other.
Personality: Enigmatic. Some days she may be willing to help a pony in need, other days she’ll do what she wants with no care for who gets in her way, and in between she’ll be content with just watching struggles for the safety of the world with a front row seat. Her priorities seem to be based on what entertains her more.
