The Best Night Ever (Private with The_Pariah)

Paladin taps his hoof, and they appear in the throne room. "Help me kill it."

"I could try..." Theria fired a high-energy pulse of lightning at it. Its tentacles shot out, impossibly fast, and absorbed every last bit of it. "You've seen it. It's too powerful."

"Uh huh." Paladin walks up to it again, his shield protecting him.

The tentacles smash against the shield, weakening it steadily as he approached.

"What is there even to hit?" Theria muttered as she loosed a cone of flame at the tentacles. "Those things are practically invincible, and there isn't anything in the void."

Paladin chuckles, and grabs the body, before pulling it off the throne.

The void refuses to move, a mass of tentacles anchoring itself to the throne. Dark tendrils of energy dig into the chair and the floor, and with a final smack the lead tentacle broke through Paladin's shield.

Paladin ignored it, straining harder. "A little help would be great."

"Right, because I'm not helping at all." Theria blasted three tentacles with a string of fire. "Actually, I have an idea. This thing is draining mental energy from you. Try to get rid of anything it might be connected to. Like those dark tendrils of energy over there." She pointed to the tendrils that anchored the monstrosity to the throne and floor. "Maybe we can drain it of energy. Now the main problem is finding out how to destroy those tendrils..."

"Any ideas?"

"Uh... well, I..."

I have one. Insight announced from behind them.

"What is it?" Paladin continued to strain

"Will it work?" Theria asked as she fended off multiple tentacles. Five of them were descending on Paladin.

Maybe. Insight admitted. But it will be very dangerous for you, Paladin.

"Well, could you hurry up and tell me?"

If what she says is true, and this snarl is draining your mental energy, I may be able to drain all your mental energy and transfer it into you. The upside is that it will make you very, very powerful. Perhaps powerful enough to kill that. Insight hesitated. But if it kills you in that state... that's the end of it. You won't wake up ever.

"Okay, sounds cool. Hurry up and do it."

It'll take time. Insight warned, shutting his eyes tightly. Stay alive.

"Because that's so easy to do." Theria snarked, just a second before a tentacle caught her in the side and propelled her into the wall. "Ouch..."

Paladin seemed fine, deflecting tentacles whilst tugging.

"Get away, you stupid things!" Theria blasted one with a stream of lightning, sending it recoiling. "How strong are they?!"

Insight ignored her. His horn began to glow with a harsh white light, the walls of the throne room breaking up and dissolving into a steady stream of energy that directed itself into his horn.

"Uhhhhh... hurry up?" Paladin stepped back slowly.

Trying, sorry! Insight's eyes opened wide, glowing with an intense white light. The streams of white energy increased even further, and the walls and ceiling of the throne room dissolved even faster, revealing a void of white behind them.

"Pretty." Paladin remarked as he attacked the vines.

Thank you. Insight began to rise up into the air, his mane and tail whipping about in a maelstrom of his own creation, the winds battering at everypony in the rapidly disintegrating room.

The monstrosity finally seemed to realise what was happening. Three tentacles lashed out at Insight.

"Help him!" Theria jumped forward, hammering the tentacles with lightning, but failing to drive them back.

A blue shield surrounded him as Paladin shielded him completely.

Appreciated. The glow around him dimmed slightly, and Insight turned to face Paladin. But it would be better to simply block the tentacles. My magic draining can't get through this.

True enough, the streams had stopped, as had the disintegration of the room, everything hanging as if suspended in time.

"Fine." He surrounds the tentacles instead.
