It's been many, many years since the the event that brought all of the known world back into the stone ages. Some say it was war, some a mysterious magical event, others say it was the gods cursing the land for their sinful ways. However it went, the world had to rebuild and survive, keeping a hold of sanity and scrounging up every last piece of useful scrap.

You were born in this excuse for a homeland. Raised from the slums, or maybe brought up by one of the far reaching tribes, or perhaps you were privileged enough to be highborn. Whatever your situation, you all have two things in common: A will and a way.

Ok, so this was an idea I came up with on the fly and people showed interest. What will need to happen if you wish to participate is that you will need to choose a character (maybe more depending on where I go with this.) And edit certain parts of their backstory to fit in with the harsh nature of the new world.

Then you get to pick weapons. And before I even see it, to all of those with "powerful" characters, "the event" interrupted the flow of magic in the air, so you vampires and demons and such will find yourselves significantly weaker. Maybe even *gasp* mortal! So yes, you will need a weapon to defend yourself. These can range from swords and bows up to certain firearms and energy weapons.

I'm still not entirely sure what I want to do with this but I will have it figured out soon. Just know that it will involve adventure, and perhaps some fighting. And I may even assign special tasks to certain characters Wink

alternation to history:
Sandy would be part of a tribe. Or was until her family was killed in a raider attack and no one else would help her out. The only choice she saw was remove her self from the tribe village and go alone. liveing off what ever scrapes she could find of savage.
Personality traits
Knowing how brutally the wild could be, she more willing to help others that she comes across, Is also more interested in the outer world, other settlements, and how other learn to survive. She especially interested in anything tech or art related. However She still has social issues due to the tribe up bringing.
Weapons
her revolver, her air cannon, and a combat knife.

I should like to submit Phantom Tears for this thread.

Alternate History: Phantom couldn't remember much of his life prior to selling a bit of his soul for immense power and eternal life, all he knew was that he had been on the brink of death when he made the deal and hadn't eaten or drank much since, nor had he been out in the sun at all. So when the cataclysm that changed the world all but stripped him of his powers, it should have come as no surprise that his body was fragile and malnourished and his coloration was pale from lack of sun. He was lucky enough to stumbles upon some old coot's "end-of-days" bunker and ravaged the store of food and water, quickly learning to pace himself after getting horrendously sick. Once the supplies were running low and he was at full strength, for his new, lesser form at least, he packed up what was left and headed out into the new world in search of more supplies and work. It had been some time since he'd needed to use conventional means of stealth and agility, so he was looking to get some practice in. His immortality had not gone all at once, but rather seemed to drain from him slowly, so in the decades since the cataclysm he'd only gained about fifteen years, though about the time he set out it appeared he was aging at a regular rate once again. The only good thing to come of this mess was that the sun no longer crippled or pained him, aside from making his eyes burn but should pass once he's out in it more.

Personality Traits: He'll work with others if it will prove to be beneficial for himself, but mostly he tries to fend for himself and let others deal with their own problems.

Equipment: A dagger and short sword he scavenged from a battlefield along with a slightly battered suite of black leather armor and a ragged black cloak.

Altered history:
He grew up in the slums. His father was a blacksmith, and thanks to the high demand of weapons his father could always afford something to eat. He was also taught in weapons by a friend and regular customer, so he could fight when he and his family are attacked by jealous, hungry and desperate folk.

Weapons:
He still has his dagger and is very proficient in swordsfighting and hand-to-hand combat (or hoof, depending on how anthro it will be.)  He isn't good in handling guns, though, so he prefers to stay away from that.

Altered History:
Verde was born the only daughter of a scholarly mare named Viridian Rain and grew up largely doted on, both by her adoring mother and her two aunts. Instead of being spoiled by the attention and praise, Verde felt an increased drive to be the very best at whatever craft she chose. Her mother's fixation on learning all there was to know about how to create and enchant machines from the Time Before led her to become a skilled engineer, tinkerer, metallurgist, and generally highly capable maker of things. In the various scrap heaps of the old world within a few days' journey from her home, she found the wreckage of a manufacturing facility and the shattered remains of the machines for making arms. She spent months collecting pieces, hauling them back home, and nursing the machines back to health until she had the basic machine tools for making all the parts of an operational firearm and even tools for grinding lenses and casting extremely fine parts. In time, a fine lever-action rifle came out of her tinkering and with it, the metal case ammunition to fire. Having a weapon made her bolder and she started to range further and further away to find all she needed for a proper forge and machine shop. In time, she added a very practical machete and crowbar to her arsenal, and devised armor of metal plates sewn into a heavy canvas framework that gave her "scales" of sort to protect herself on her expeditions.

Equipment:

Ardor remembers nothing of the cataclysmic events of the Sundering. Her childhood is vague and blurred, dotted with recollections of a nomadic life, of travelling through abandoned urban jungles, a life spent in overgrown and flooded areas. Scavenging became her role in the wandering group as she entered adolescence. Picking out and searching for useful, valuable scraps and often attempting to learn from abandoned technology became both a passion and a respectable job.
She travelled through many abandoned city-sectors, never staying in one place. Her whole life had been constant wandering, and she learned to never stay in one place. Staying and settling down meant stagnation and starvation, while mobility and movement was the best way to live.

:Equipment:
The griff is rarely ever seen without her repurposed tool belts and her pocket-covered, rather worn-looking ‘vest’. She tries to keep her bags empty of unnecessary weight, as her line of work requires that she be light on her feet, but she has everything she’s used for the past few years to live off of the wild as a hunter-gatherer-scavenger. One precious item she’s kept for a while now is a dagger that has a blade that can heat up enough to burn organics as it cuts through them, something she postulates was used originally as medical equipment before it was modified. It is desperately in need of repairs. A crowbar or pry-lever of sorts, light and strong, is usually strapped to her somewhere. She also has a few energy weapons that she has been playing around with after a rather successful raid. One pistol has been made to work again after she scavenged bits from most of the other guns to repair it, not that she has much ammunition for it, nor does it look safe. She also has a broken-down rifle that looks intimidating but does nothing as far as she can tell so far and plans on selling it later. Add to this list every useful junk item and piece of scrap she wants to try selling.
