Name: Venus

Race: Alicorn

Mane: Long, curly. Rose red.

Coat: Hot pink

Cutiemark: A white dove, with a rose in it's claws.

Distinguishing Features: Her soft, caramel eyes. Her gentle nature and her extreme gracefulness.

Specialty: Matchmaking, her natural ability to see who likes who and their compatability. Her barriers and levitational abilities are quite good, among the best but nowhere near the best. She also has quite the skill with using scents to calm or excite others, she commonly uses it to keep people from fighting, preventing any quarrels. She also uses it to help others relax.

Weaknesses: Though she has a massive pool of mana, being an alicorn, she only has basic knowledge of magic; Barriers, Levitation, and other simple things. Though she has pegasi's flight and weather control, and an Earth Pony's skill with plants and strength, she is rather weak in flight, and not the strongest, not good with plants and not good with clouds.

Occupation: Gryphos Noble, aka Unemployed

Gear: A small silver circlet a gryphon made for her. Nothing much else besides a notebook and a few quills and ink jars, and, of course, lots of bits.

History: Born to a unicorn mother and pegasus father, in the capitol of the Gryphon Kingdom, Venus was quite the oddity as a natural born Alicorn, the only one in the land of the Gryphon Kingdom. She grew up treated like a princess, but at age 14, her parents were killed by diamond dog slavers. A Gryphos noble adopted her, and she was quite happy with her new family, especially her new sister, Allure. Allure and Venus became great friends, teaching each other how to watch body langauge and protect themselves from drunken idiots with lust-addled brains. Venus was sent to Prance for a week, Allure said it was a test to see if she could handle herself alone, but Venus came back, fluent in the lngauge and with an accent, not light, but not a heavy one either. She has met The Alicorn Sisters once, at a meeting of nobles, and they were intrigued with her, and Venus promised to visit Canterlot eventually. Venus did visit, and currently lives in Canterlot. She is treated like a princess but constantly denies being one, though she loves being called "Lady Venus".

Personality: Kind, gentle, graceful, never able to turn down a pony in trouble.

Distinguishing Features: Her curling hair
Specialty (eg. special spells, unique powers etc): The growing and caring of flowers, preferably Jasmine.
Weaknesses: Fire of any size, at age seven another school filly had decided to show off her special talent in fire magic, the tendral of fire went berserk and scorched a spiraling burn down Jasmine's left foreleg. She grew her hair out to cover it.
Occupation: Owner of a Floral Arrangement Company, fittingly named, Jasmine's Florals.
Gear: A curled watering can that seems to be enchanted to create a endless stream of water as long as she is the one watering the flowers.
History: Jasmine lead fairly quiet life growing up as the daughter of Trotingham's Botanical Gardener and biggest floral magazine writer, she never had trouble finding her calling since it was a family specialty. Flower growing, flower planting, watering, picking, selling, these were normal traits of just about any and everyone in her family. At age 17 on her parents gave her 1,111 bits and told her to go find herself. A week later she was running a abnormally successful floral arrangement, and gardening tool company.
Current Home: A small cabin on Trotingham's countryside.

Edda Epic

Race: Pegasus

Age: 31

Alignment: Chaotic Good

Mane: Edda keeps his mane combed back, its hue a mix of light and dark cyan sections, similarly, he keeps his tail in the same fashion.

Coat: Typically a bright shade of turquoise whilst in his normal state, though some have reported him taking on a darker shade whilst in his "depressed" mode. He does keep it decently brushed though.

Cutie mark.: A simple mask meant to cover the upper half of the face, the left side gold and the right have silver. The line in the middle of the two is rather blurred.

Extra details that aren’t needed but are nice to add:

Distinguishing Features: The smell of alcohol on his breath, if nothing else.

Specialty (eg. special spells, unique powers etc): Edda himself specializes in storytelling, both writing and orally reciting numerous tales of various genres. Additionally, he shows some talent in acting and the art of disguise, often put to use to give his oral deliveries a little bit more flair.
Given his propensity for constant travel, Edda's picked up a few bits of self-defense here and there. As such, he's got some experience in plain old hoofticuffs, as well as using plenty of improvised weapons, primarily as clubs of various sizes (whether it be the leg off a barstool, a candlestick, or a sturdy piece of pipe). His fighting style depends primarily on agility, getting in a few surprise hits as hard as possible, cheap shots, and running off as soon as the enemy is stunned or distracted.
*Maretropolis Bonus: Whilst in Maretropolis roleplays, or similarly high power tier RPs, Edda's combat abilities extend out much further, turning him into an archetypical trickster. He's incredibly nimble and quick, and will utilize any aspect of the environment to his advantage, though he will hold back from actual killing (unless he's in "Dark Edda" mode, then all bets are off). Like many "powerless" heroes, he'll utilize gadgets and tools to get the job done, though he doesn't actually own any real gadgets himself. Still, a bottle of scotch and a match go together great applied liberally a supervillain. He’d still rank pretty low on the scale of power levels, but he’d at least try to fight, as opposed to what most civilians do.

Weaknesses: Edda is a hard-drinking alcoholic and will begin to suffer signs of withdrawal around 8 hours without any sort of alcohol in his system, which will worsen as time goes on; this includes, but is not limited to, heightened anxiety, fatigue, or irritability, cold sweats, headaches, nausea, and in extreme cases of withdrawal, possible seizures or delirium. He's also willing to do a lot to get a good drink of the stuff, especially when undergoing these symptoms. The other side of the coin is about as bad, considering that it involves regularly drinking to at least some degree, and oftentimes involves drinking to excess.
He's not exactly good at taking hits, weighing a little less than average and not having much besides his bony form to take the brunt of a hit. His only real defense in a fight is not getting hit.

Occupation: Writer

Gear: If available, Edda will always begin any given thread with at least a bottle or two of some kind of hard whiskey.

Personality: As hinted at numerous times in the biography thus far, Edda has some serious mental issues, the product of which has been called "Dark Edda" a few times. This is not some split personality though, merely a symptom of bipolar disorder (if you want me to give you a specific diagnosis, I'd say...Md ultradian cycling bipolar disorder. Essentially, high levels of mania are followed by low-level depression, and these cycles can occur and complete within a single day). He's fully conscious of this dark side and it is most certainly Edda in control of his actions. The only real difference is that they hold different attitudes and temperaments, whilst sharing knowledge, skills, memories, etc.
Edda is most oft to be found in a rather neutral state moodwise, though he sometimes enters into light depression; he tends to deal with the latter via liberal application of alcohol. In this state, he's rather approachable, though he's rarely the one to start up social interactions, as he's gifted with a certain degree of shyness. He's relatively level-headed (or at least tries to be), and usually just tries to go along with whatever anyone tells him to do.
When he's in a manic state, however, he's considerably less stable. He's excitable, and some might call that a positive thing, but it also means most of his other emotions are amplified as well. He becomes so irritable that he'll lash out at even the slightest provocation, though his attention span isn't exactly too long either, so the anger is likely to last for just a few moments before he settles on some topic completely unrelated. He tends to have delusional and psychotic episodes in this state, as he flies through emotions and thoughts faster than logic could ever dare to move and doesn’t really care about anypony else. The only definitive thing about his mania is that he will not calm the frig down, so probably putting him away for an hour or two would be effective, just so that he gets out of the manic state.


Current Home: Tenant in Ponyville, though I wouldn't be surprised if he moved around a bit every now and then.

History: In his younger years, Edda lived a life with few problems and no real worries, like many youths. The big problems of the world didn't matter so much, and he never really had  to deal with too many jerks. But ponies grow up and hormones oftentimes get the best of them. At the ripe young age of eight, Edda spent a week locked in his own room entirely by his own will after missing a deadline for a school project. Questions were asked, and after a while the colt was diagnosed with clinical depression. The only recourse was therapy, really, and it was suggested to him that perhaps he could write, to let some of those feelings out. To air out the dirty laundry, one might say.
The boy never could have suspected that his parents would divorce within a year. Or that his mother would just leave him behind so cruelly. He stayed in his room for a month, constantly blaming himself for her distaste with the family. He drew pictures on the walls and floor, all of them crude caricatures designed specifically to mock him. To insult him. It took nearly half a year to clean up those physical scars of his mother's leaving, and another half beyond that to somewhat mend the scars upon his psyche.

The next year (age 10 now) managed to pass without incident, he started spending plenty of time with his friends, playing a game called "Caverns & Cockatrices." It was a once-a-week thing for him, and he spent every weekend just visiting friends' houses and playing the childish game. Several campaigns through and all seemed well enough, he hadn't had any sort of problem in an eternity, when it all came crashing down. A week after his eleventh birthday, he leapt across the table in the middle of a game and started beating up one of his the other players. A couple of other kids managed to pull him off, but not after he left the other one with a black eye. The incident was quietly filed away, everyone involved hoped it would never happen again, and Edda never, ever played Caverns & Cockatrices again.
His diagnosis was shortly revised to bipolar disorder, and given the length of time he’d been afflicted with mania (only a few days, starting on the day of the assault), it seemed that his cycles had grown shorter and shorter, and more and more unpredictable, as he’d grown. Perhaps for the worst, financial troubles were making it difficult for Edda’s father to deal with buying medication to keep the boy sedate, and just dealing with stress at work and no real respite at home drove him to drink. It did not take long for Edda to start imitating his father, and most evenings over the next few years were spent sharing a bottle or two between the pair.

In more recent years, Edda’s managed to make it as a small-time writer, writing short stories for magazines. He uses it as both an outlet for his feelings as as just a way to waste his time, as he often writes simply out of the habit of writing, most often with a good bottle of liquor right next to him.

Name: Phantom Tears

Race: Shade Thestral, Shades are creatures that sell a portion of their soul to a demon of the shadows in exchange for magical powers and eternal life. They lose most if not all of their memory of being mortal and are usually assassins and or thieves. They are generally disliked by society and tend to work alone. Most shades sell part of their souls while they are still alive, but a few make a deal while on the brink of death, leading some ponies to believe that shades are undead and similar to ghosts.

Age: Unknown, appears early to mid twenties

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Mane: deep grey, undulating, mid-length

Coat: deep grey, holds to the general shape of a stallion but shifts

Cutie mark.: Solar eclipse with a small fraction of the sun showing

Extra details that aren't needed but are nice to add: Immortal as far as any pony can tell, but not invincible

Distinguishing Features: Pointed teeth, red cat like eyes

Specialty (eg. special spells, unique powers etc): Control of shadows and darkness, master assassin and thief. Can make weapons from shadow and hurl balls of dark energy. Can merge with shadows to make himself larger and more powerful. Can become 2D and slip between cracks and under doors. Immune to poisons. Can only be hit by magic or magic enhanced items, everything else phases through him.

Weaknesses: Extremely susceptible to light, natural and artificial. If he loses focus while combined with foreign shadows he will begin to dissolve into the shadow and could die. Appearance makes it impossible for him to blend in with normal ponies. Can only operate at night or with heavy cloud cover.

Occupation: Ex-assassin and thief, now a member of the power ponies, mostly to preserve himself

Gear: Heavy black cloak with a face mask, allows him to go out in the light but his powers are useless in it

History: He cannot remember any of his mortal life nor can he remember how long he has been a shade. After a near death experience while fighting a pony with light powers, he decided to become one of the good guys in the hopes that it would help him preserve his own life. He has very little compassion and mostly looks out for himself, choosing to take on solo missions rather than join the other Power Ponies on missions that require a team. He will assist however if there is a worthy reward, such as a priceless artifact or the glory of killing a famous or infamous figure.

Personality: Self-confident, puts his own needs and desires above others, faithful as long as it suits his needs

Current Home: Power Ponies base

Misc: Does not need to eat, drink, or sleep, but occasionally will to kill time or just for the sake of tasting something. Cannot get intoxicated, much to his chagrin sometimes. Mostly relies on stealth and sneak attacks, but could hold his own in a fight against an average pony.

Race: Griffon

Alignment: Neutral

Appearance: As far as griffons go, he is normal, with the white-feathered head, brown wings and yellow talons of an eagle and the brown body and tail of a lion, but his eyes are surrounded by an silvery-grey colouration, and the tips of his head-feathers are similarly grey. The eyes themselves are ice-blue.

Distinguishing Features: Unlike most of his kind, he sports a zebra-esque black outline of a cutie mark on his flanks: the image of a bow and arrow.

Specialty (eg. special spells, unique powers etc): He is unique among griffons, in that he has the ability to work magic. His specialties lie in passive boosts and gear enchantment, allowing him to augment the strength of weapons and gear with added effects such as increased armour penetration value and decreasing movement speed of the target upon impact for weapons, and increased strength for clothing, amongst others. Furthermore, he is capable of creating temporary magic constructs, which he uses primarily to craft magic arrows that usually only maintain their physical form for a minute. He is also a proficient archer, and a competent flyer.

Weaknesses: Other than basic telekinesis and his unique ability to create magic arrows, his magic abilities are restricted solely to passive spells and enchantments, preventing him from casting active spells like magic lightning and fireballs and the whole range of such abilities. In addition, his passive spells and enchantments are triggered only by the spoken word, meaning that if he is silenced he will be cut off from his magic and would not be able to activate his enchantments. He is also a fragile target, as archers are wont to be compared to more heavily armoured knights.

Occupation: Noble of the Griffon Court (nominally), Nomad in Equestria (in practice)

Gear: He has a bow of silver, with etched runes running down the limb and a snow-white string. The entire bow, affectionately dubbed "Silverstring", glows with an ice-blue ethereal light when there are any passive enchantments on it that are currently in use. He needs no arrows, as he can simply craft them with magic.

Other than the bow, he also has a dark-grey hooded cloak with a clasp of silver, and an onyx inlaid in the centre of the clasp.

History: Archon was born into nobility. His parents were respected figures in the country and in the Royal Griffon Court. They owed their success partly to their reputation as kind and generous people, and partly to their skill at political manoeuvring and manipulation.

Archon, however, despite being the naturally clever type, did not find his interests in politics. No matter how his parents pleaded and nudged him in that direction, he always refused - he found the very notion of a political hierarchy ridiculous, and wished not to have to involve himself in the Court. Instead, he found excitement in more physical activities, the most prominent of which was archery, in which he established a keen interest and eventually a firm talent.

This led to him eventually seeking permission from his parents to leave the country and live on his own. They were initially reluctant to let him leave, but ultimately they decided that his life was his own, and that he was free to do what he wanted. He did hasten to reassure him, however, that he was always welcome back home, and that if he did return they would make sure that a good political career would be available for him.

Thusly did Archon's globetrotting begin. With nothing on him but a bow, a quiver of arrows, a cloak, and a satchel of food, he wandered the world as a nomad, going from place to place and learning new things. He eventually stumbled upon a tribe of zebras, and was fascinated by their unique forms of magic, different from that of the ponies he'd seen come by to the palace as ambassadors occasionally.

He stayed with them, and to his surprise he learnt that he was able to manipulate their kind of magic, albeit to a limited extent. A few years of practice lent him the ability to use several different types of passive spells. And with that, he discovered another new thing: Zebra cutie marks came to all those who practised their magic, not just zebras alone.

He was about to leave, but the local alchemist of the village presented him with a gift that surprised him. It was a bow made of silver obtained through a successful alchemical experiment. She offered it to him as a parting gift and as an test - she wanted to see if he was able to enchant the bow with the zebra magic he'd procured.

Archon succeeded, laying enchantment after enchantment onto it until he'd run out of spells to use. The alchemist congratulated him and gave him the bow, which he has come to call Silverstring, and a little gemstone - an onyx - to remember her, and the village, by.

From then on, he always kept a map of Equestria with him, with an extra large red X over the zebra village.

Personality: Archon is cunning and resourceful, but unlike many of the Court he is a loyal and faithful person, extremely disapproving of treachery and backstabbing. He is also awkward in social situations, since he spends most of his time wandering, alone, from any place like the deserts of Equestria to the frozen north of the Crystal Empire. This also makes him patient and persistent, being able to withstand hardships.

Name: Brimstone (Brim for short)

Race: Demon pony

Mane: Black with random purple streaks. Medium length and kind of messy.

Coat: Ashen grey

Cutie mark: A brightly burning flame

Distinguishing Features: While common among the various demon ponies, the pair of curved horns does tend to stand out among the common crowd. The yellow eyes wouldn't though if it wasn't for their uncharacteristic piercing quality, the slit pupils, or the fact that they glowed in the dark. The black bat like wings were reminiscent of a thestral's, but the spikes jutting from their joints were something a bit abnormal. Lastly, the tail is long, thin, arrow pointed at the end, and covered only in a thin layer of colored fur in the same color scheme as the mane.

Specialty: There are numerous tales of the power of demons. Stories of them leveling mountains, razing cities, and contributing to the end time. Brim is not one of these demons. Brim can wreath his hoof in flame some of the time, and then he can somewhat control the flames but they aren't always controlled much to his endless frustration on both accounts.

Weaknesses: Aside from the rather blatant lack of skill, ability, and control with his magic, Brim is not the sharpest tool in the shed. His experiences have left him almost painfully inexperienced in many of the even basic aspects of life. He doesn't know what a lot of basic equestrian foods are,  what's actually valuable, and various things of that nature.

Occupation: None, and quite frankly he's not really qualified for much, at least starting out.

Gear: A feather that he holds as a prized possession that's very close to him. It's actually one of Princess Celestia's from long ago.

History: Many have heard legends, tales, and prophecies surrounding the demons that roam the hells beyond Cerberus's guard, but few know of what goes on within that world, even Brimstone is so to say out of the loop. Growing up outside the gates of the hells, but on their side of the river which was little more than an endless, rocky, barrens, Brimstone had a very sheltered life full of ignorant bliss with the few friends he had. Those being the ponifaction of death, a few stray souls, Cerberus, and his pet rock Petrokiv.

One day, something remarkable happened for the young demon pony. He caught sight of Celestia flying over the barren wastes outside the hells. Awestruck, Brim followed as quickly as he could, but eventually had to stop for even he couldn't enter the true hells themselves, plus he got a little preoccupied with Cerberus who wanted to play. Distraught over the loss of the sight of the beautiful visage who practically glowed like the sun in the bleak wastes, Brim was on the verge of tears until something landed on his nose. A glorious white feather, fallen from the majestic princess who was flying back overhead and away from the gates. Already too far off, Brim didn't even try to give chase to the amazing sight, and instead turned his attention to the feather which he coveted as a prized possession. Something beautiful in the barren landscape in between the river and gates.

Days passed in the normal sense of things until one day a new being showed up. This one a purple unicorn pony by the looks, and better yet she was bringing back Cerberus who'd gone missing a few days ago. Brim wanted to thank the purple pony, but she was already running back the way she came before he got close enough to say anything so he gave chase. He followed the pony to the river, and took to the skies when she boarded the ferry pony's boat. Succeeding in not getting caught thanks to the dozens of games of hide-and-seek with Petrokiv, Brim managed to follow the purple pony to a swirling portal. She didn't even hesitate to jump in and Brim followed before he knew what he was really doing.

Twilight's spell however wasn't designed for two beings, and so it went wild when it came to depositing Brim, throwing him into the wilds between the Crystal Empire and Canterlot. Curious about the new world, Brim began to wander about aimlessly taking in the new sights that Equestria offered.

Personality: Brim is very happy in his ignorant bliss, approaching most situations with a genuine smile that could terrify small rodents with all the sharp teeth, yet he can't seem to ever figure out why they run away.

Current Home: None since he has no idea how to get back to the hells, or rather the space between them and the river, though he isn't too sure about wanting to go back.

Misc: Nothing at the moment.

Extra details that aren’t needed but are nice to add: He usually likes to visit places near northern climates.

Distinguishing Features: His tent-shaped hat usually stands out in a crowd.

Specialty (eg. special spells, unique powers etc): Helping others by using his lute - usually by playing it. And he does it quite well too.

Weaknesses: No actual combat experience outside bar brawls, oblivious to the advances of mares unless drunk.

Occupation: Travelling bard.

Gear: A dark green jacket and a tent-shaped hat (His hat's shape in visual detail)

History: Tune was never a member of a rich family. His family lived in a small village out in the edges of the Rainbow Falls, where they sold most of their produce to other neighboring communities, the only times when they got to know what was going on around the world was during the Trade Fair.
One time during one of said fairs, Tune saw a lute that he absolutely wanted, yet he couldn't trade anything for it since his family had so little. So instead he opted to help the stallion. At the end of the day, when the fair was about to end, it turned out that the stallion's booth had been sabotaged and the supports were growing weak thanks to the successful trades adding too much weight. The stallion would have died in the wreckage if not for Tune using the promised lute as a lever to lift the worst of the fallen debris away. In the end it turned out that the stallion's jealous brother who wanted to make sure he'd not get any good trades by making sure his booth couldn't stand the pressure. They both made up when Tune offered both of them a drink while offering to play a song for them. He got tons of tips from other listeners and he realized this was a great way to support his family financially. So he left to other parts of Equestria to work as a travelling bard, sending most of the money he makes to his family and the rest going to his drinks and supplies.

Personality: He's a pony who's used to making new friends in every town he goes to, and holds each of them close to his heart. He sometimes gives advice in life when he sees others having difficulties, his honest smile usually making the listeners take the advice to heart. He also enjoys a good drink at any tavern he goes to, comes with the territory of playing a lute in a bar anyways. He usually tries to defuse fights by offering the wanna-be contestants drinks, but if a fight occurs, he stays out of it until either side gets beaten and is about to be killed. If that is about to happen, he delivers nasty punches to put the one attempting murder out of commission before letting the local authorities know.

Extra details that aren’t needed but are nice to add: Her most prominent disguise, the one she uses most of the time in Canterlot, goes by the name of Plant - Weed Plant for full - a light green unicorn mare with a long, flowing yellow mane and a potted bonsai for a cutie mark. She is a Lady, being in possession of a Noble title, as is customary for all Departmental heads in Equestria and their primary advisors.

Distinguishing Features: One of the few changelings to have hair, representing her position as a high-ranking officer of the Changeling Hive.

Specialty: Shapeshifting magic, and teleportation. Her control over teleportation manifests itself in many ways; she can make a teleport far more discreet than a light-flashing, loud-popping version, she can also teleport much further distances or teleport short distances more often, and bring more items with her when she teleports. She can also teleport items other than herself, either with her or by themselves.

Weaknesses: As with all changelings, her magic is unavailable to her while in other, non-magic using forms. In addition, even in magic-using forms the full scope of her ability is still not optimal, as magic unique to changelings cannot be used. Her ability to teleport is also affected by the overall mass involved in the teleportation, making it easier to teleport lighter things than it is for heavier ones.

Occupation: Supreme Commander of the Changeling Army (in actuality), Noble and primary advisor to the Equestrian Intelligence Bureau

Gear: She owns the officer's dark blue armour, but unlike other changelings, has weapons of her own. She has an elegantly carved knife hidden in her armour, as well as a katana for use in melee combat, if her standard combat spells cannot handle an enemy.

History: All her life, Espia was a part of the Changeling Hive. She started small, as an unexceptional child, but soon grew in intelligence and magical ability, and was taken into consideration as one of the potential future leaders of the Hive. She was thus entered in the "Talent Development Programme" for the changelings.

Although she was bright and talented, especially in the field of teleportation, there was another brighter candidate in the Programme who always eclipsed her. Until, that is, this candidate vanished one day from the Hive without a trace. Rumours abounded that the candidate had deserted.

Espia seized the opportunity immediately. Her brightness had, over the years, become more directed in the field of strategy and political intrigue, always in an attempt to outdo the one who shone brighter than she did. But now, with the main competition gone, her intelligence propelled her to the forefront of the Programme's candidates. Queen Chrysalis soon took notice and selected her to be the future leader of the changeling armies (as soon as the current one retired). In the meantime, however, Espia was assigned to another duty: A position of espionage.

She was smuggled into Canterlot under the disguise of a unicorn mare named Plant, and with her natural intelligence and skill at politics manoeuvred her way up the social ladder over a few years to attain a position in the Equestrian Intelligence Bureau - a perfect position for her, because now she had near-complete access to all state secrets, as well as a measure of control over Equestria's spies and other military assets.

She remained in the Bureau, secretly feeding intelligence to the Hive and thus setting up the first changeling invasion of Canterlot, a few months before which she went on extended leave, under the pretext of wanting to avoid any potential confrontations when it was realised among the Equestrian Court that there was a danger to Canterlot. To her surprise, the changelings were still defeated, but as she had the foresight to distance herself from the actual battle her position remained unharmed. She returned to Canterlot after the anti-changeling shield was dropped and continued functioning in her capacity as an advisor.

In the aftermath of the battle, the news reached her that the old Supreme Commander had been killed, and Espia herself was promoted accordingly. However, as she was in a somewhat awkward position to command the army, she entrusted the responsibility to her second-in-command and continued doing what she did best - manipulation, intrigue, and politics.

Personality: Outwardly, both in changeling form and as Lady Plant, Espia gives an show of compassion and generosity, treating any and all with great kindness. In reality, however, she is a scheming, cunning, and underhanded individual, willing to go to any lengths to achieve her aims. She is also a very careful type, preferring to err on the side of caution if possible, and unwilling to take great risks unless it is absolutely apparent that doing so would be the correct course of action.

History: Shimmergloom was born to a normal thestral family in Phillidalphia. Growing up, he was fond of tinkering with most anything he could get his hands on until he finally got his cutie mark after repairing an old lantern he found in an attic at his home. After graduating he attended a technical school for a year, then graduated and now takes various jobs from employers all over Equestria, though he never stays in a city for more than a year before returning home to Fillydalphia

Personality: Shimmergloom is generally a level headed pony not prone to extreme emotions. Not to say that he isn't joyful or sad at times, he just doesn't let out strong emotions.

Due to safety concerns regarding his abilities, Normal does not wear any other tight-fitting attire while doing his supervillain thing, though he might feel the need for a different outfit if the situation demands it.

Specialty (eg. special spells, unique powers etc): Normal is a literal genius, and he brings his intellect to the fore in the creation of wondrous inventions of all sorts, though much of his creations in more recent years have been of a very weaponized nature. The augmentations he has added to his body, however, are what really make him a unique specimen.

⁃ Bio-Mechanical Body--Internals
   • Much of Normal’s body has been replaced or supplemented by mechanical parts, most of which invented solely by himself, while some minor pieces received important additions or advising from other scientists. All of these implants are one-of-a-kind, and anyone who just copied them from the blueprints would find them utterly useless or, in fact, fatal to implement, as every piece was designed from the ground up to work with Normal’s body, down to the chemistry, length of bones and muscles, and the position of blood vessels. Every piece was painstakingly crafted to absolute perfection before being put in him, to the degree that damage to the implants will not cause too much trouble for his health, usually.
   • His skull has a layer of elastic material underneath metal melded to the bone. This prevents large, sharp skull fragments from forming, similar to safety glass, and also gives it a bit more strength, to protect his brain. Flexible, tiny sheets of metal are also adhered to his spine to give it additional protection and strength. His ribs are connected by similarly flexible sheets of metal, helping to deflect glancing blows from reaching vital organs.
   • Right arm was amputated and is now completely mechanical, down from the shoulder. It is painted to resemble his skin tone and is covered in fake fur matching his coat color, concealing this fact, except when the fur is pulled back (such as when he uses his lightning attacks).
   • Left arm has some muscles and tendons replaced, but is mostly still organic and bears the scars of the surgeries involved. His hand (and perhaps just a bit into his ankle), however, has a smaller, significantly weaker version of his right arm’s lightning cannon in it, as well as a short ballistic knife that can be extended and fired at will. It is, essentially, his back-up weapon.
   • Both legs are largely mechanical, with numerous tendons and muscles replaced with mechanical analogues, and bones reinforced with metal. The skin of the legs, however, is wholly organic, and is covered with scars beneath the fur from the numerous surgeries that were required for the implanting.

⁃ Bio-Mechanical Body--Externals
   • Wires implanted into and criss-crossing his entire epidermis turn Normal into an electrical conductor, but at the same time, direct said electricity away from vital organs and, thanks to a few magical little devices known only as “diodes”, important electrical systems (which are also protected by surge protectors on their actual power supplies) are also kept safe from the danger of someone shooting a bunch of lightning at him and hoping to overload him. As such, he is effectively always grounded, as long as he is in physical contact with something that could be considered a “ground”. These also allow him to induce a static charge upon direct contact with a pony or solid object, though it’s not likely to do much more than give you a zap if you touch something metal (or it might turn you into a target for lightning bolts).
   • Prominent in his right arm, and with a smaller version in his left, Normal is equipped with a “lightning cannon”, essentially a very powerful Tesla coil that he is actually capable of aiming and utilizing offensively. The cannon takes up a significant portion of his arm, going up to just below the elbow, and requires a few seconds to charge between shots. It is aimed via a small laser embedded just below it, which heats the air in straight line between himself and his intended target, though the effective range only reaches out to 20 to 30 feet. The secondary is much smaller and has a maximum range of about 10 feet, and delivers a much weaker shot.

⁃ Villain With Good Publicity
   • Despite his nefarious ways, Situation Normal is not actively considered a threat by officials outside the Power Ponies. This is very reasonable from a purely statistical point of view: he has one of the lowest, if not the lowest, casualty and injury rates among all of Maretropolis’s supervillains, and his participation in any given villain group has been shown to actually lower the amount of collateral damage caused (even if it does improve the chances of them achieving their stated goals). Moreover, keeping him around prevents someone much more violent and destructive from taking his place, as he does tend to clash with and push down such villains, especially ones who don’t have the reputation or power to challenge him.
   • Thanks to the above, Normal typically quietly escapes from prosecution (probably also aided by the fact that everyone involved knows he’d just break out of anything anyway, and the last time he went to court his defense essentially consisted of pointing out that threatening to make ponies bald is not illegal, whilst superponies trespassing in his house and attacking him certainly is, and nopony wants to repeat that debacle), even when someone does manage to drag him in. Unlike many villains, he’s not really feared by anyone in authority unless he specifically warns them beforehand, as he always does. After all, he’s never really been out to destroy the government or any big business in particular--he makes his threats specifically to get supers to come after him.
   • Since this is not something innate, he can lose access to it through roleplaying, and anyone threatened by him or by a group he’s in is unlikely to be of any help, and is utterly unaffected by this “power”, and neither is anyone closely entwined with the Power Ponies organization.

Weaknesses:
⁃ Honor Before Reason
   • Despite being a villain and a scoundrel, Normal is the kind of pony that keeps his promises, and holds himself as an honorable gentlepony before all else. He will not go after civilians to cow a hero, nor will he take hostages (of course, anyone trying to be a hero isn’t a civilian), and he will actually protect bystanders if they’re endangered by a battle. Of course, this doesn’t make his nefarious schemes and threats of mayhem any less real, as he will keep the promises behind those threats just as well as he will any other. His honor is important, and he will do anything to retain it, even if doing so requires some really stupid actions.

⁃ Muggleness
   • Since he’s actually a powerless supervillain, Normal lacks some of the finesse that a natural hero would have. He has no control over his projectile attacks after they’ve been shot off, such as the lightning bolts from his Lightning Cannon, and his accuracy is limited by his own vision and muscle control. His lack of any control over said lighting also leaves his primary attack completely useless against electrokinetics and those with similar powers. Technokinetics and electrokinetics can also interfere with his mechanical systems, but he will develop countermeasures as quickly as he can, and he’s done his best to lessen the danger of just a casual assault from either already.

⁃ Villain Ball
   • Despite his intellect and experience in the field that might tell him to act otherwise, Normal cultivates an air of rather stereotypical villain around himself, and he’ll wade into cliches and inherently flawed plans with just as much enthusiasm as a foal told he can go into an ice cream shoppe and get whatever he wants. Be it complicated death traps, leaving the hero alone for a while, a hearty evil laugh, or just having on really complicated and easily countered step as the final stage of his plan, he’s perfectly willing to do it. He actively refuses to correct this, and any attempts to do so are likely to just be pushed off as trying to change his tried and tested style.

⁃ Nice Guys Finish Last
   • Honestly, Normal’s a nice guy, and he can’t really stand to be mean, even to his enemies. He is absolutely helpless against children, and he’ll give even prisoners and his greatest nemeses the highest courtesies (and long as they aren’t rude. Then he complains about the rudeness). He’s not squeamish in the least bit, and he might well be trying to kill his opponents, but he’ll give them a sporting chance, and will often heed requests, especially last requests, or anything that just seems like it’s good manners to do.

Gear: Whatever badass invention(s) he’s made and that haven’t been broken by somepony yet.

History: Normal had the great misfortune of being born to a pair of unicorns in the city of Maretropolis, with a unicorn brother 6 years his senior (named Tinker Tock). His parents were hanging on to a slowly decaying noble status, and his arrival as an Earth Pony shook up their already teetering livelihoods.
Throughout his life, Normal’s father never really cared much for him. He’d been expecting a unicorn, a pure blooded unicorn, like himself, and Normal coming out as a magicless, powerless earth pony, likely doomed to end up in farm work, or doing paperwork all his life, was a disappointment. Despite his father’s apparent ambivalence to Normal’s existence, the boy constantly attempted to impress him with his natural intellect and mechanical skills.
His mother and brother were a bit more loving towards him, but the former was often distracted by the latter’s achievements, and both were often pulled away by his father. But in the end, they only really gave him any love out of their familiar relation, not because they loved who or what he was.

Normal was a prodigy at every grade level, and he moved through life as fast as he could, getting better at everything he possibly could. He didn’t simply spend all of his time studying, but it certainly took up whatever time wasn’t consumed by sports, a good number of which he participated in as he grew up. When he went into highschool, it was two years earlier than the kid he’d gone to elementary school with, and it certainly didn’t hurt his grades any. Sadly enough, this incredibly early entry into the world of teenage drama was thoroughly overshadowed by Tinker Tock’s exit from the same world, and entry into that of higher education.
Now that did hurt him, and he was determined to get his parents’ attention. Somehow. So he set out on a bit of a magnum opus, a device that would become the prototype of his later augmentations. To create it, he took on various jobs and undertook numerous favors to pay for parts, tools and services, giving up a number of after-school activities and sports to pull them off. He managed to get Tinker himself in on it too, using the boy’s greater manual expertise and the fine control of his magic to perfect even the smallest bits. Actually learning at school became a bit of an afterthought to him, as his work in sensitive electronics and mechanics forced him to learn several years ahead in various subjects.
He only went to highschool for 3 years before graduating, and he immediately set out on finding a college to accept him, but none leaped forwards to take in an untested 15-year-old. Thusly, he spent the next two years devoted wholly to his great project, refining it, making it better and better, and even testing its effectiveness a few times. Once he was 17, the Maretropolis Institute of Technology finally accepted his registration. He was without any free time for a long time, as he took every course he could manage to juggle on top of the others, and where Tinker had stopped at his Associate’s years ago, Normal just kept on with class after class after class.

But it was not to be.
One night, Tinker came into Normal dorm, his entire body black and blue, covered with welts and tiny cuts. After finding out that it was his father’s doing, Normal flew into a rage. He gathered up the old parts of his invention and he ran home.
He yelled and screamed at his father. At his mother. He spent an hour just letting his anger boil over at them. And then he revealed why his invention was so special. A bolt of lightning shot from his hand and left a scorch on the wall right above his father’s head. He’d missed, and he didn’t intend to miss again. He’d come to the realization in that moment that his father had always been right.
Only the strongest survive. And right then and there, he was the strongest.
His mother interposed herself between them. She hoped to end the fight. She just made it so Normal had to use two lightning bolts to kill his father.
Of course, as his mother fell to the ground was the perfect moment for Tinker Tock to burst into the home. The poor stallion ran to the side of the mare, tears springing to his eyes. Another obstacle, apparently decided to get in the way of progress. Another arc of electricity to get it out of the way.
The teenager approached his father, madness in his eyes. The last words the stallion heard came with a maniac laugh alongside them.

“Are you proud of me now, Father?”

Nowadays, he has a very regular schedule to his evildoing, generally a week long, unless circumstances get in the way. Monday through Thursday he spends setting up his evil plots, having to meetings (business only) with other villains, and grocery shopping every other week. On Friday, he informs a few key members of the press where and when this week’s scheme will be (this brings in a small bit of money on occasion, when it’s a particularly heinous plot, and he’s actually friends with some journalists nowadays), and makes sure any nearby businesses know about what events will be going on in their area, so they can clear out before the fighting starts. (he can pay to replace broken objects or repair buildings, but he cannot replace ponies. He knows exactly what it’s like to lose a loved one, and he will do what he can to keep a bystander from being slain by an unintentional act.)
Still, there are casualties and injuries some of the time, and he has been spotted on some Sunday mornings just taking a somber stroll around the city, occasionally visiting those hurt by his activities and the actions of other villains, or just paying his respects in general.

He regularly patents his inventions in toned-down versions for commercial uses, and he gives out limited licences to some actual production companies for the actual creation and sale of them. For example, he once created a Hair Removal Ray which could disintegrate a pony’s entire coat and mane in a single instant, and thus ruining their appearance for months and/or years, and completely nullifying supers with hair-related powers. Now, there are modified versions of the spell it was based on sold on the market as unsightly hair removers and razors, capable of slicing down hair to a precise and desired length for as long as the crystals storing the spell can hold the magical charge. A copy of the original device, with a bit more precision added on, (the original itself, of course, having been destroyed by those accursed superponies) was donated to a local hospital, and now sees use in emergency procedures for those suffering large-scale trauma or burns, to get any and all hair out of the way of an operation when needed.


Personality: Normal is a very driven stallion, determined to prove his worth in a world that he believes is in consortium against him. This is no simple paranoia, but a matter of philosophy. Where the generally accepted belief among ponies is that helping one another is one of the greatest purposes of life, Normal believes that only the greatest ponies can succeed in life, and lesser ponies are doomed only to failure. Thusly, he is determined to become the best pony, by any means necessary. Years of constant setbacks and failure in reaching this goal, compounded by a childhood spent under the neverending glare of his parents and beneath the shadow of his brother, have left him both infinitely more determined to become the greatest, and at the same time he feels that he is unworthy (which he only intends to prove wrong).

Despite his philosophy espousing little care for others, Normal is honestly a very loving stallion. Even in his greatest rage, he will show signs of caring for the targets of said anger (though, if you haven’t guessed, that will not stop him from killing). There is no real room in his heart for a long-lasting hate, and he sees the superheroes of Maretropolis more as rivals to challenge than as lifelong foes to duel to the death. This is also largely why he attempt to avert civilian casualties, as he does not want any interference in the challenges, and moreover, he holds no malice towards them despite their lesser status. They will fail because that is the nature of survival of the fittest, and he does not need to be pushing it to cause such.

Thanks to a few magical little devices known only as "diodes", important electrical systems... what? You forgot to finish the sentence. Also, I think you're being sarcastic since diodes would be en extremely common thing in the Maretropolis setting, again assuming that this character is meant for that.

Distinguishing Features: Instead of a horn of a normal unicorn, Helia has two curved, glowing red horns emerging from the side of her head, reminiscent of a demon's horns.

Specialty: Besides her excellent ability to create and command fire, her specialty, like many Tartaric creatures, lies in the form of her ability to drain the magic of others. She would come into possession of half the total of her target's magic - whether innate, like Earth Pony magic or Pegasus flight magic, or active, like unicorn magic - which would serve to fuel her own magic reserves and grant her a measure command over her target's abilities, but only if the target is a mage. Once she crosses a certain threshold of power, she is able to transform into an Ascended form:

Ascended: In addition to her horns, she also gains a set of dark bat-like wings. Her mane and tail change colour to inky-black and adopt the appearance of flames, and her coat deepens in colour to red. While in this form, her magic is greatly amplified, both in power and precision of command, and she can fly. Her fire manifests itself as dark fire, burning with a black intensity.

Weaknesses: The magic she steals is limited by time. She can retain the powers she absorbs, depending on its magnitude of power, from anywhere between a few months for a slight boost to only a few minutes in her Ascended form. (Running of out power when she is Ascended causes her to revert to her normal self.) In addition, she is incapable of using her other magic while absorbing another's powers, putting her in a vulnerable position if she is attacked during this time, typically about fifteen to twenty seconds from start to finish, excluding interruptions. Also, her stolen magic, once she is unable to hold onto it anymore, reverts back to the target of the spell if it is still alive, but if not it simply dissipates to nothing. Finally, her ability to absorb power is limited by range; the target must be within melee striking distance for the absorption to work.

Occupation: Unemployed

Gear: She owns a magically-enchanted crudely-forged metal scythe, forged from the molten remains of the prison she had been trapped in. It retains the enchantment on the cage, designed to be highly durable and hard to break.

History: Tirek, although arguably the most well-known, was far from the only prisoner in the hellish dungeon of Tartarus. Many other high-risk villains were kept in the place, shrouded in secrecy.

Helia was 'born' to one of them. In reality, she was created from a deliberate exorcism of a demon-pony's magic, in an attempt for said demon-pony to escape by making a temporary helper to break the heavily enchanted cage typical in the high-security hell from the outside. But alas, this plan failed; the newly-created Helia was too weak to be of much help, and she was summarily captured and imprisoned alongside her father.

It was in this atmosphere of restriction and despondency that Helia lived out her first few months of existence. But, day by day, she was able to come into contact with some of the inhabitants of Tartarus, and under her father's instruction learned how to control her magic and siphon it away from the prison's visitors, little by little.

Her freedom finally came one day when she'd drained enough magic in a short enough time, culminating in the unleashing of her Ascended form. It was powerful enough to melt through the enchanted bars of her cage and set her free. She was going to free her father, but a thought occurred to her: she was born merely as a tool to facilitate his escape, and she was formed by magic he'd been forced to remove from himself. What, then, would he do if he had full control over her?

Fearful for her life, she fled alone, creating a diversion for Cerberus before managing to escape - just barely - into the outside world. From there she wandered Equestria, trying her best to stay alive.

She managed, on the whole. She eventually became something of a predator in herself, gaining a reputation among even ferocious creatures like manticores and timberwolves for her vicious and merciless nature, and the trail of blood she left in her wake.

Personality: Naturally distrusting and suspicious of others, Helia prides herself on her self-sufficiency. More than anything else, she is afraid of being helpless, and is often seized by severe depression or panic if she's stuck in a bad situation she can't change. She craves respect, whether through fear or through admiration.

Distinguishing Features: Knuckle has six large sun symbols circling his chest has that were branded into him like ever other clan member. Green oculars that seem to be a bit on the lazy side.
Specialty (eg. special spells, unique powers etc): His skin and fur are as strong and thick as iron armor layered over his body several times over, Zebrican War Arts, as well as heightened sensory.
Weaknesses: He has a fear of bleeding, as strange as that might sound. If he starts to bleed something or someone has come along that's strong enough to kill him. He also has a fear of water although his body is surprisingly buoyant in water.

Gear: With him he carries two large "Knuckle-Blades" which are much like brace knuckles, but the front of the weapon is headed of with a three cylinder shaped objects that resemble the hoof of a pony.
History: As a infant pup, he was offered by his people as a tribute of peace to stop the constant war raids. The Zebrican tribe accepted him as the lone survivor he would become as they slaughtered ever other Diamond Dog for the disgust they felt towards the race for offering their young. Being different from most the Chief Zezaro, proposed he be given a simple life at ease as a field laborer. This was the path they had chosen for him to take, but that pathetic excuse had been forgotten and he was branded property for anything the tribes ponies wanted. From then on he was constantly forced into the most brutal and dangerous of experiments that alchemists and medicine stallions wanted and witch doctors wanted. This mutated his skin and fur to the endurance of even shattering swords and arrows that were shot at him. He was soon after given the name Knuckle that Breaks Stone, which to all meant another weapon of war.
  This was the case as he was not only taught several new concepts that had long since been neglected of the child, but also War Arts, particularly his tribes own form of it. Six hoof Diagram, which were quick precise blows to pressure points all over the body, three hits being performed per hoof in as little as two seconds by the instructors. These blows ranged from six blows to 36 consecutive blows. As such he learned the anatomy of all species, fighting styles, arithmetic, science, history, and reading and writing as well. They gave him knowledge of everything they could and he became a genius at fighting and at all the subjects he was taught although he never once spoke. By age 16 he had grown much larger than his race normally did as he had stood straight instead of digging tunnels his body built and tuned for war and labor, finally he had become what had long since been promised to him. But it did not last as the alchemist gave him one last potion one that had been meant to be harmless.  
  It wasn't as harmless as meant though. It sharpened his senses and allowed him to shift his vision into two sights one which was normal the second, gave him perfect view of every internal organ and weak point in the body. Whether those organs were behind a wall or several buildings away, it allowed his nose to smell things like they were fresh scents even if they were a week old. His ears more acute to soft movement and even silence had a ringing to it. His body felt it when things moved near him, and he once again became what the Zebra Tribe wanted him to be a weapon of war.
  He didn't comply and instead ran for the longest of times spending four years running and reviewing his knowledge. Reaching Maretropolis, he took the first job he could find, as a bodyguard. Later also taking a job part-time at a chiropractors.
Personality: Quiet, if he has something to say he doesn't even bother to try and write it. No amount of insulting can anger him, as he has deal with it for a good portion of his life. He normally remains blank faced as he tribe had given him power, but took several of his emotions as the price. Neutral

Personality: Quiet, if he has something to say he doesn't even bother to try and write it. No amount of insulting can anger him, as he has deal with it for a good portion of his life. He normally remains blank faced as he tribe had given him power, but took several of his emotions as the price.

It's about time I came up with an OC in canonverse...

Name: Swing Jazz

Race: Pegasus

Age: 27

Alignment: Lawful Neutral

Mane: Short, gray mane with some white streaks

Coat: Black

Cutie mark.: A trumpet wearing a hat

Extra details that aren’t needed but are nice to add: He constantly wears formal clothing.

Distinguishing Features: While his formal clothes aren't always a standout detail, they tend to stand out in situations where they're illogical, such as when he visits his relatives' farm.

Specialty (eg. special spells, unique powers etc): Jazz had, over the years of using them for various musical instruments, developed an extremely precise control of his wings.

Weaknesses: As he traded rote wing strength for precise application of strength and control, Swing Jazz cannot fly as quickly as other ponies.

Occupation: Swing Jazz is a traveling musician.

Gear: He travels with a carriage filled with assorted instruments. The contents of this carriage vary depending on where he's headed; however, it will, at any given time, contain an acoustic guitar, a clean electric guitar, and a saxophone.

History: Swing Jazz had for the longest time no sense of direction in his life. He was born in Fillydelphia, though his parents left the city, heartbroken after a mix - up during a busy hospital day ended with him being misplaced and subsequently abandoned (the doctor responsible was removed from his position). Most of his childhood he spent tracking them down, and while he did manage to track them down to a farm some distance south of Fillydelphia, he'd lost years of his life in the process. Furthermore, his dedicating his life to finding his family left him aimless once he'd succeeded, and the distance between him and his family left a bitter taste in his mouth. He resided in Fillydelphia and dropped by when he could, in a futile attempt to close the distance created by years of depression and separation.

Swing Jazz was unnamed and unmarked, which in addition to his being a lost child, made it hard for him to eke out a living. Luck, or some would say contrived coincidence allowed for him to get a job in a tiny, grassroots music store named Heart - Strings. During lulls and late nights, he would sneak into the stockroom and attempt to play the instruments, to varying degrees of success. He was terrible at first, though the dreary life he led made him more than willing to stick with the one thing he found satisfying.

Unknown to him, his employer was actually paying attention to his experiments with music, and would occasionally leave out certain items to ever so subtly push him towards specific genres. Most notably, he made it so that instruments and music records concerning jazz and blues were more accessible. He made steady progress and wrote a few songs during this time.

Swing Jazz worked at Heart - Strings for three years until his employer decided to let him know that he was well aware of his progress, and was impressed. In fact, he'd set up a tiny concert for him without his knowledge, under the stage name which he would eventually adopt as his real name. Against all his complaints and fears, his debut of his original album "Lulls and Late Nights" was generally well - received. While it did not send his name sailing through the skies, it did garner him and Heart - Strings some steady attention and a growing following. It also gave him his mark, though it still baffled him why a trumpet would appear when he was playing a guitar.

He worked some more at the tiny shop, and it was soon glaringly obvious that he was the reason for majority of the shop's customers. Sensing the impending standoff, he and his employer had a calm talk punctuated by occasional flying mugs. When the dust and steam of spilled coffee settled, they had an agreement that both were good with - Swing Jazz would be a musician, and he would be backed by Heart - Strings in exchange for advertising and helping set up branches in other cities.

Before leaving Fillydelphia to become a touring musician, Swing Jazz dropped by his family's farm in the dead of night and silently set up a stage in the barn. When the sun rose along with his family, he began a performance, which he gave them as both a parting gift and an assurance that he would drop by again at some point.

"They say good music comes from the heart... but in my case, it comes from there, from lulls and late nights, and from a good cup of coffee."

Personality: Swing Jazz is down - to - earth, and is generally easy to get along with. He does not however take well to starting conversations or interaction in general, unless something catches his eye. Patience is a strong suit of his, except when others start to trashtalk music in front of him, in which case he goes berserk. He doesn't mind when it's his music that's being criticized, so long as the criticism isn't senseless.

Current Home: At the moment, he is on the road.

Misc: No one knows why his mark is a trumpet, not even him, as he does not play trumpets. He simply dismissed it as an "overarching symbol of my kind of music".
