Breaking Quarantine

Creeping closer, the group might eventually be able to see what was inside the room, though the sight was pretty far from something pleasant. Inside, the remnants of another harpy, or at least something that was dressed as one of the harpies, were being mauled and also possibly being eaten by some kind of beat just barely bigger than a pony. The monster's hooves however ended in long cone like points, it's mouth seemed to have something of a curved beak like mutation to it that pinched off bits of flesh with each snapping click.

Tattered wings also hung limply from the monsters back, clearly no longer used by it. The monsters actions were quick, precise, and savage as it continued to mutilate the corpse. The actions however seemed to have the majority of the monster's attention and it was making quite a bit of noise.

Distortion approached the room slowly alongside Star, himself keeping very, very careful and cautious. His sense of preservation had been pretty heightened ever since he came to this place, and it was now higher than ever and telling him to run off. He did know, however, that running of would just make things worse, since a) they had to stick together, and b) they had to find their guide again.

Then he drew close enough to the room, and almost gasped when he saw the monster. He turned to Star with a curious expression, however. They were in trouble, but it was perhaps pretty important that he kept his cool. It was a fairly easy facade to maintain, given his experience at the art of lying and deceiving. "So... shall we leave now? Going in there might not be so good for our health."

sky edged closer to the opening to see the creature before her. cringed at the sound of the corps being torn apart, the ligaments snapping, the sound of the musculs and organs being torn away with a sound of wet soft velcro and was not much better pleased by the sight. sky stepped away slowly and looked dead at the other two. then pointed down the hallway with her chin as to say ' lets move on before we end up like that.'. once the message had be convaied she would head that way herself.

Star cringed at the sight and sound the creature made. He looked at the two ponies that were with him. "Well...We are probably sandwiched right now. If we go back that other creature that was attacking us might show up again. If we go forward..." He let the sentence hang, guessing he really didn't need to finish. He look around, trying to find something they could possibly do. "Hmm...Kinda wish Stalwart was here." He muttered, turning around and started walking that direction. He shook his head thinking that going back was not very productive. He did grab his sword just encase.

The three wouldn't face too many troubles at the moment with one monster looking around seemingly aimlessly while the other was busy munching on a corpse. Going back down the hallway, the group would come to and possibly pass the doors they'd taken to come into this hallway in the first place. Onward, the hallway took a turn to the left, which only somewhat mattered since all the broken walls and such allowed fairly easy access into and through the various rooms on either side of it. Even seeing through the room on the corner allowed them to see that the immediate hall past the bend was clear.

Distortion followed Star warily, still holding his gun out and waiting for the chance to activate the shield rune. Even though they were so far managing to evade the things that wanted to kill them (and possibly eat them for tea) that wasn't any indication of future happenings. They had to stay calm.

"So," he remarked cheerfully but quietly, "this is turning out to be some mission so far, huh? I'm just happy I'm not back in my cubicle. Those places are boring, you know. Also deadly," he added, "if you're prone to dying of boredom."

Star eased up a tad bit, sighing. They practically stared death in the face...If death was a few feet away. He looked back at Distortion, tilting his head to the side. "Well....Depends for me...If it were daytime, I'd happily be sleeping. If night then it really depends on where I'm stationed." He gave a shrug, turning back forward.

He saw the corner was clear and gave a small hmm, before turning it. He looked down the...possible hallway to make sure it was clear. He was rather thankful that the corner was clear too, because he didn't want to get hit in the face with a 2x4 again.

sky tailed on, ears prone and eyes focused. she knew her odds were bad and she wasnt too sure if she could even trust those she followed but atleast it could maybe mean backup in a bad ocsion. sky looked around alittle the uttered a small question. "why are you two even here?" She asked bluntly now eyeing the pair up like a suspiciouse deer.

Around the bend would be quite the sight for sore eyes, as it appeared the floor for the entire hallway seemed to have partially collapsed forming a ramp down to one of the skywalk junctions on the next floor down. The suspended walkways snaking out and away from the large sky breaker they were in. Past the hub, another hallway continued on for some distance before splitting into a 'T' section. While more of the same clutter was spread about the area, there didn't seem to be anything living exceptionally close by. Even the regular 'thud' from the prior monster's steps started to become distant as the group progressed.

"Hey, look!" Distortion's eyes lit up as he looked out onto the skywalk junction that may well turn out to be their salvation. "Some luck, huh? It must be a trap!" He extended a tentative hoof onto the makeshift ramp and stomped heavily on it once, waiting to see if the whole thing would collapse suddenly and drop all the way down or if it would prove to be at least somewhat stable.

Star's ear twitched hearing a question behind him. He turned his head, raising an eyebrow at the mare. He opened his mouth to answer her question, but didn't get a chance to when he heard Distortion say something. Curios about what his partner had said, he turned back and looked at the ramp. " I'm gonna go scout ahead." He said, unfurling head wings and hovering down onto the skywalk.

He made sure not to touch it incase it collapsed beneath him. He flew down the hallway before he reached the split. He peaked around the corner, trying not to alert what could possibly be lurking around the corner. He really didn't want to get smacked in the face again by a 2x4. He had to shudder at the thought before going back to his looking.

sky attempted to unfurl her wings before the shooting pain from the damaged one nigh on sceemed at her. she tucked them both back away as best she couldbeing extra careful with the damaged one letting it rest abit less tucked in. taking a breath she walked up to distortion and stood beside him looking down where star had flown off to.

she looked at distortion and desided to ask the question directly at him."where did you come from and why areyou here?" she asked distortion, keeping an eye out for a returning star.

Around the corner and to the left, the hallway was empty a short ways before it became blocked off by more collapsed building. The open doors leading off to either side of the blockage hinted at possible ways around the obstacle though. In the other direction, the hallway also only went a short ways before ending at a closed door.

For the moment, nothing seemed to be coming their way and nothing was intently trying to kill them.

"Hmm..." Distortion looked at the makeshift ramp, which didn't seem to have collapsed instantly. He'd take that as a sign of durability, but first he'd wait for Star to return and render his verdict. That would probably be safest, and also he didn't want to be blamed for doing something stupid again. Especially when it wasn't his fault.

Okay, so maybe all his stupid mistakes were his fault so far, but the future was a mystery.

He turned to Sky. "Oh, you know, this and that." He said jocularly. "Can't say I came here for the scenery, though, this place is horrible. Three stars out of five." He chuckled. "Man, I should totally have been spending my holiday better. Then again, you don't know how good you have it till you see what it could be, right?"

Star gave a quiet hmm. He looked at the floor then back down the hall. He could easily scout ahead even more, but that could be dangerous. But then again, if there's anything dangerous it could get all three of them potentially. He sighed and decided to go back and report what he saw. But before he did that, he landed gently then stomped a few times to make sure the floor would collapse or something like that. It was only logical to do that or else his earthbound companions would fall. Or...one of them would.

she gave a short sigh then looked at him "you know it didnt always look like this, it used to be a beutiful city, it was buzy sure but noone was to buzy to say hello, and there was love for anyone... the event took that away from us tho, now there are these... things.. and the only way to suvive is in groups.. i some how suvived and showed that i could pick pocket overpower and and sneak to a comprable level and thats part way why i joined with the harpies.. i had settled, i had a way to live thats all that mattered." She walked to the wall nearest the out side. "Noweredays i look out to this desaster and its almost enough to cry when you think about what this place was like before hand.." she turned to face destortion again "how old are you two?" she asked some what out of the blue.

While nothing seemed to change inside the building, the outside did shift a bit. While the sun continued it's trek across the sky, there was a sudden rumbling. Off in the distance, and almost seemingly as if on cue from the mare's statement, a chunk of another skybreaker off in the distance broke off and collapsed. The wreckage disappeared behind the shorter buildings as it crashed and shattered.

OOg: Open RP while you three continue to wait here and so long as you don't make too much noise, though keep in mind that the longer you wait here, the more other factors have time to develop.

"How old are we?" Distortion raised an eyebrow. "Huh. Actually, how old is Star? You know, I don't actually know. I mean, I know you didn't know I didn't know, but knowing now that I don't know what I should know but don't know is pretty enlightening, you know? Now I know I don't know, and knowing that I don't know is the first step to realising that, no, knowing not what should be known is no excuse to stay out of the know. So thanks, Sky, for showing me that I don't know what I ought to know, and now I know I must know, knowing the unknown to be unknown and that it must be brought into the know so that we can all know the knowledge that we now know not."

Star looked around before flying back to the two ponies. "Okay so on the left some of the building collapsed but there's a door that we can go trough. And the right, there's a closed door. So if you two wish, I'd like to hurry along before something sneaks up on us. Not saying that something will, but it's best safe to be sorry. Also were you two talking about something I should know about?" He said, more or less looking towards Distortion more than Sky. "I swear I could have heard you rambling about something while I was in the hallway."

"i asked what your ages were and what perspouse you have in being here is all" she said with a sigh at the unaswerd question "i dare say id get a better response from you, rather than.... the knowing of whats to know.." she sighed once more and looked to star more directly "had you ever seen this city before this happened?" she asked star the aditional question purely to see more of who she was dealing with.

Star clicked his tongue against his teeth as he heard the question. He looked down at the ground. "My...age? Well that's a new one...No not really." He shook his head. "We should probably get moving. No sense in staying in this one spot right?" He was obviously avoiding the question. He never really got that question very often, but when he did, he tended to stay away from it. "Off we go then!" He flew down to the skywalk and waited for the other two.

sky walk after him, her face just as seriouse as before, posabley even more so "i dont think my question is that hard, so, please answer it, both of you, your not exactly that old or maybe thats just what it seems from my point of veiw... anyway i want an answer." she almost demanded. "and why are you here?" she added to here demands.

"Appearances can be deceiving, you know." Distortion said lightly as he trotted down the skywalk after Star. "Age, too, can be deceiving in its implications. Perhaps a measure of seniority is in truth indicative of little." He scrunched up his nose. "Plus no one's asked me for my age in a long time, and I've sort of forgotten what it is." He shrugged. "I'll remember it in time."

"As for why we're here... let's just say that we have a job to do. Jobs are important things, you know. They put food on the table." He gestured back to the building he'd left when he stepped out onto the skywalk. "I'll just count myself lucky that I wasn't working in there when whatever happened went dow- oh look, we're here." He stopped beside Star and smiled. "Right! What's our next step, captain?"

Star shook his head. "I'd...rather not say my age." He looked at Distortion with a tilt of his head. He listened to his...rant for a moment before turning back towards the hallway that split into two smaller hallways. "Our next step is..." He flew over to where the split was. "Here. On our left we have a short hallway with it's ceiling caving in and a door. On our right we have another short hallway with a closed door at the end." He said, still ignoring Sky's questions. "So who wants to the door on the left?"

"sure" sky said with a nod. "left seems safe enough but.." she looked at the two and asked a question to keep her own spirits up. "what is it like outside... it was a long long time ago when i wondered the forrests and plains.. whats it like now?" she asked remanising to the past
