Breaking Quarantine

"Well..." Distortion stared at the deformed creature. "That is certainly... a thing. A very dangerous thing, from the looks of it." He heard the series of calls from behind the creature. "And they're more of them too. Screw this. Time to fight!" He lowered the shield by switching over to his ice rune and fired at the creature. "Quick, Star, try to... well, I don't know, just try to hurt it!"

Star stared at the...mound of moving scrap? He looked confused at first then saw the...two red dots where eyes should be. "Very dangerous....And there's more behind it...." He stayed back for a moment when the shield fell. "Wait...Hit it?! You're basically, probably, most likely, sending me into my doom....Ah buck it. What have I got to lose..." He turned to the creature and charged at it, his sword held firm in his mouth.

Dis's ice blast shot sailed towards the creature, kicking up some dust and debris as it traveled. The light blue magical attack then slammed into the creature, ice forming over a fairly large area of it, stopping it in it's tracks. This ice rather quickly cracked and shattered as the creature resumed it's charge at Dis and Star. Once it started getting closer, four fairly large almost tentacle like protrusions rocketed out from the mound, the ends of each wielding a massive sword like blade easily half as big as a pony and poised to swing as soon as Star was within range.

"Ah, nuts." Distortion lowered his gun slightly, watching as the creature moved to attack Star. "Alright, let's see, um... I almost feel responsible for this." He switched to the laser rune and began blasting away at the creature, rushing forward towards Star at the same time. "Come on, die already, you... thing!"

Star's eyes widened when the creature drew four massive swords with four...large tentacles. He skidded to a stop and gulped. I knew it... He let out a yelp when the damn thing started swinging at him, making him drop his sword and dive to the side. He looked back at Distortion. "You idiot! Stay back!" He shouted back at him, quickly turning his eyes back to the creature. He dove for his sword again in hopes that he can get it back and that Distortion actually listened to him.

Two at a time, the large, slightly curved, blades crashed into the tile floor, cutting slightly into the hard smooth surface where Star had been just moments before. The creature didn't let up though, and swung 3 of it's blades at Star again, chasing after him as he tried to get his sword. The last one was brought about defensively, deflecting Dis's laser blasts.

"Yeah, yeah!" Distortion shouted, raging forward towards the beast. "Tell that to the guy with the shield, will you?" He levitated the gun over to Star's fallen sword, switched it to the shield rune mode, and activated it. With any luck, it would push the creature away and encapsulate the sword, which he would then bring over to Star, shield and all, and drop into his grasp. At the same time, he backed away from the creature.

Star grumbled, but he couldn't do anything right now. He was practically dodging for his life. He had to give it to Distortion, he had a good point. Now if only they had a way to survive this damn thing. Yup...Keep dodging until you find a way out of this situation. His eyes fell on the hole in the wall from earlier. A plan, probably a very bad plan, started to form in his head. Now he just needed his sword back and he can start this very bad plan.

When Dis levitated the gun over towards the sword, and simultaneously the creature, the monster brought down the claw like blade that had been deflecting laser blasts onto the rune gun. The large curved blade only making a small cut into the metal side of the weapon as it was slammed into the ground. The shield rune however still activated and as the bubble formed, the single claw like blade was trapped inside along with both weapons. Dis however might find it surprising that there was a fairly sufficient force pulling the shield against Dis's attempts to move it towards Star.

Star however wasn't faring much better, since there were still three more blade tipped tentacles swinging wildly at him. One suddenly clashed down on the floor to Star's right, and another on his left. At the same time, both these started scraping across the floor as they were brought in towards Star, practically grinding against the tile floor. The last of these tentacles seemed to have found something more interesting as it was repeatedly slashing at Dis's bubble shield.

"Aw, dang it, now I have to get that scratch out somehow." Distortion tugged and pulled at the gun, trying to dislodge it but to no avail. "You know what? Forget it." He flipped away from the shield rune and fired at the creature from where his gun was at that point in time with the laser rune. Hopefully it might prove slightly more effective than the previous attempts.

Star yelped a little when the two blades landed on both sides of him and were now coming towards him. He gulped and ran away from the creature. "Okay! Forget the stupid sword!" He shouted, running towards Distortion. He planned to pull out his stupid plan as quick as he could and just forget about his sword.....Unless Distortion actually did something to the damn thing, then he might not forget his sword and might not have to go through his plan.

Dis's laser blast hit the creature high and in the front, and it seemed to affect it. The monstrous thing seemed to stagger backwards slightly, it's blades falling to the ground at it's sides as the first traces of smoke started to rise from the scorched spot on the pile of scrap and trash that covered the monster. Even a fragment of it's skull mask seemed to have broken off from the blast, the bottom right corner of the skull.

The beast however didn't stay down for long. Before anypony could catch their breath, it had righted itself and began swinging it's blade tipped tentacles in a wild flurry of slashes that seemed without rhythm or reason. A horrid, very unpony-like roar echoed out of the monster as all four of it's wildly flailing limbs were now slashing at Dis.

"Yaargh!" Distortion leapt further backwards and quickly recalled the gun to him, hoping he would be fast enough to activate the shield rune and protect himself from the... thing. "Gah! Ah, not good! Star, if you wanna get your sword back... maybe you should do it while this thing is focused on me, huh?"

Star skidded to a stop and didn't need anymore of an order to run back and get his sword. "Yeah, yeah!" He shouted behind him, running as fast as he could over to the sword. He slip to a somewhat stop and picked up his sword with his mouth. Okay...What now? He though to himself quickly, deciding to swing at the creature. He sprinted at the thing and once he was close enough, swung at it.

The creatures claws managed their first shallow swipes along Dis's form and gun, but by the time it'd brought it's blades back around, they only clashed loudly off the bubble shield. It didn't let up however, continuously striking the surface with a terrifying flurry of blows, the shield holding but flashing with every strike.

It kept doing this however until Star attacked it. As Star's sword was swung into the creatures hide, it managed to cut through the scrap with considerable ease, searing and charring as it went. The monster let out a new horrible screech, it's limbs flying upwards in agony as a gout of black, almost tar like substance, exploded out from the wound. The monster then turned partially, and while full of rage, swung three of it's blades at Star from various angles while the last one stayed swinging repeatedly at Dis.

"Well, this ain't gonna hold up for very much longer." Distortion grunted, continuously backing away from the monster's attacks. His wounds were bleeding now, but not too badly. It could be fixed. They would not be able to be fixed, however, if he didn't survive. And that possibility was becoming steadily more likely.

When Star struck it and the beast diverted its attention, Distortion decided it was then or never. He rolled backwards, collapsing in a heap on the floor in what amounted to a dodge, deactivated the shield, and started blasting away at the creature with lasers.

Star was glad he did something to the creature, but now he was being forced to dodge again. He dove to the side and used his sword to block a few swings. "Distortion! Hurry up and deal with this thing! Don't think I can continue to duck and dodge forever!" He shouted, still holding his sword in his mouth. He wished he could see what Distortion was doing, but from the sounds of it, he might be firing his gun and dealing with that one blade attacking him or firing his gun to kill the creature.

The blows Star tried to block carried a hefty amount of force, even managing to simply barge past his guard a couple times earning a couple cuts along the thestrals hide. But before it got the chance to catch him with a considerably more painful slash, Dis's laser blasts slammed into the creatures other side.

The blasts achieved about the same effect as before. The shots left scorching marks on it's hide, reeking of burnt cloth, trash, and flesh. This forced the monster back towards Star, it's claw blades shooting well behind their mark and giving the thestral another opening.

"Ha ha ha ha! Power!" Distortion cheered, constantly blasting away at the monster without giving it a chance to recover. Of course, if he was unlucky, it would recover under his hail of lasers anyway, or maybe slap the gun out of his magical grip.

He took a step backwards, away from the beast, though he still kept firing. He tried to stay out of the range of the tentacles as much as possible without compromising on his firepower. He hoped what he had would be enough to compel the monster to submit. Or kill it, too. That would work.

Star smiled back at Distortion. He took that opening to swing once more at the creature, hoping it will die sooner then later. He couldn't keep up dodge this thing and he already had some blood already trailing down from some cuts it made. Celestia have mercy! Will this thing just die! He thought to himself as he heard Distortion was still firing at the creature.

As Dis's laser blasts forced the monster farther back, it was practically impaled on Star's sword, issuing forth another gout of the thick tar like liquid billowing out onto the thestral. With a agonized screech, the monster started going limp, it's limbs clanging loudly to the floor and it's skull masked head slumping forward. The two glowing red lights from it's eye sockets dimmed and went out as more of the tar like liquid began to pool on the floor around the collapsed creature.

Distortion shot it a few more times, still backing away, until he was sure it wouldn't spring back up into undeath or something and try to kill him again. As soon as his paranoia was satiated, he shrugged and lowered his gun, turning to Star. "Well, I think that's that. Don't think it'll be getting any deader. So, which way do you want to go now? Hopefully whichever way we pick won't have something waiting around the corner to kill us... again."

Star backed away from the dead creature. He wiped off the, what he presumed was the creature's blood, and turned towards Distortion. "Well....Be better hurry." He said putting his sword on the ground really quickly spitting off to the side and wiping more of the tar like liquid off. He then picked his sword back up and picked looked down the way they were originally heading. "Why don't you pick?" He said to his unicorn companion.

Despite the monster being defeated, that did very little to stop the sounds emanating from other parts of the building. A few scattered screams sounded off along with more monstrous, grating screeches and even the sounds of battle. The noise however was echoing and traveling so much that it was hard to gauge where it was coming from or even how many were making these noises. In the hallway that Star and Dis were in, the only real movement for the moment was the occasional piece of trash being blown by the still present breeze and the blood that was still pooling slightly under the closed door.

"So... really, I'm fine, if you wanna check that door out," Distortion gestured to the door nearby, under which a pool of blood was seeping, "but really it's your choice. I'm not the best at picking doors to go through. I mean, there was this one time where I stepped into one of those public toilets in Canterlot and found it was for mares instead of-" He realised he was rambling and cut himself off. "Anyway, story for a different time. Let me just tell you that this here is a lot more blood than I've seen before. Not that I've seen much blood before, but yannow... your choice." He hefted his gun in his telekinetic grip and aimed it towards the unopened door. "If you wanna barge it, I've got your back."
