Discussion: Why are NSFW more popular than the other kinds of RPing?

Looking over the group is it clear as day, NSFW rps are about double as popular than our sure and BG RPs combined.

So why are people choosing NSFW over sure sessions? Looking at a thread as The Gigil Resort can one for example see that there are a high interest in RPing "open" games, thou each time an "open" game are made in each of the other sessions are it either dying off in a little weeks time, or gain only half the interest.

So what are making people chose NSFW, that being naughty and gory RPs over those without those elements?

The NSFW tag allows for so much versatility in threads. I tend to toss it in there just so I'm not limited in any way when running them.

In my opinion, it is due to the heavier elements of roleplaying that people seem to enjoy here and that these elements fall under the NSFW tag.

While that is oversimplifying it, it more or less captures the point. The show has already gone through plenty of subjects that one could repeat in a roleplay, but there's no interest in that.

As Sharp already said, the threads without NSFW seem too limited. As someone who desires more adventurous types of RP, a NSFW tag should still be there, because what is an adventure without a bit of gore?

Well... One of my best examples on how one can do adventures and exploration without gore or going over PG-13 is the Pokemon movies and series. A lot of times do you get a heavy story, a lot of adventure, and more battles than what good are, and yet do they keep it in a "sure" manner.

It might have something to do with the gratuitous amounts of smexing one can do in such threads for starters. It might have something to do with how one can make MLP Dark and Edgy more explicitly. It might also have something to do with the fact that, when in doubt, NSFW. Cause hey, better to avoid breaking any rules and deal with the Admins altogether if you're not sure what may or may not fall under the PG-13 radar once in a while.

Sharp's reply is mine: because NSFW allows us latitude to include any and all adult subjects, including sex and gore and horror and other things, we do most RPing in that section. My pony has a gun and shoots someone? NSFW. Eldrich horrors running around? NSFW. Two consenting adults have fun sex? NSFW. Swearing in a tough situation? NSFW. Anything that requires maturity to deal with is NSFW and almost the entire group are adults. So we flock to NSFW.

I prefer NSFW as it doesn't limit the emotional relationship developments that sex and related topics allow to more naturally develop.

I prefer it for the sense of freedom in choice of character action. NSFW rps are not about sex in truth in fact a few one done via private function like a normal rp then a sex or violence fest.
