The Last Hunt (Adventure, possible other tags)

A pained screech, a loud boom, and a flash of light all happened close enough that it was hard to tell where one ended and the next began, but all of it happened. And after it happened, just about everyone would be blinking their eyes and bearing the ringing in their ears while the Roc continued it's downward attack dive, now in the opposite direction that the party was. The spear was still buried in it's side. Aerv's tackle would slam him into the lot of them and all 4 would end up in a tangle of limbs and bodies, and through the air they would plummet while the Roc righted it's flight and departed with a few powerful flaps.

Nuria felt something heavy slam into her and nearly panicked. For a moment she thought that damned unicorn had screwed her over and let the Roc get her. But upon regaining her sight and not feeing any feathers but her own, she stopped her flailing and tried to write herself in the air to keep from hitting the ground. Or worse, before the Roc decided to come back! "Where'd it go?! Where is it?!"

Star quickly threw his forehooves up over his ears and closed his eyes just as he was equally slammed into and turned into an addiction to the pile of tangled limbs. He quickly tried to pull away and right himself so he could fly correctly and survey their situation. "It's flying away...WITH YOUR SPEAR IN IT!" He snapped at her, clearly annoyed. He sighed and shook his head, rubbing his face. "You don't you listen to the one who actually lived here...? He knows more stuff then us, and if he says not to attack the big birdy then you shouldn't." He said in a bit more of a calmer tone then at first.

Aerv would make sure that Roc was going away before finally managing to untangle himself and Sharp from the group, smiling as Star and Nuria managed to untangle themselves as well before sighing and shaking his head. "Well at least you don't have your spear anymore so you can't do any further damage... but seeing where the spear is right now, it almost seems like we don't have many chances of getting the peace treaty accepted. They were low as it were, and now thanks to you Nuria, they may just have plummeted into the ground." Aerv half-growled at Nuria, clearly pissed thanks to her actions, before beginning to fly in the direction where he suspected the dragon king was and hoping that at least Star would still follow him. His patience with Nuria was almost lost.

Holding on to Aerv during those brief moments of party-wide tangling was probably one of the most challenging feats of physical exertion Sharp had ever managed to endure. Of course, she had the whole ‘fall and you’d die’ incentive, so, there certainly wasn’t a lack of desire.

After all four bodies were once again a respectable distance from one another, “Yeah, you’re welcome. I’m going to just… sit here for a bit.” She’d say, closing her eyes and leaning as comfortably as she could against Aerv’s neck.

The Roc indeed did fly off, and with the little by comparison spear still buried in it's chest. But with it's departure, the skies were once again clear of everything except the group that were still sky bound. The mountain that was to be their targeted destination continued to draw closer though, and a little after sunset, they would find themselves around the base of the mountain. The area was light forest, with lots of open spaces of grassland around it. The towering mountain itself boasted a white cap of snow for a ways around the peak, and out of a few caves scattered around the mountain itself, black smoke billowed outward as if it were about to erupt at any point.

Nuria landed and grumpily started testing branches from the nearby trees, trying to find one that was particularly straight, as well as sturdy. She grumbled to herself and avoided the others for now. Especially Aerv, who in her eyes seemed to care little for their safety.

Star sighed deeply, looking at Nuria as she landed down on the ground to do whatever. He wasn't worried for her...she's shown she could handle things herself. He was just worried to let down the princesses and Aerv's chance at being able to live in Equestria. He looked at said dragon in wonder for a moment before flying after him. He looked on his back at Sharp, raising an eyebrow. "Hey horn head. You okay there?" He said with some concern. Of course his choice of words were a bit...bad, but his tone couldn't deny his concern for her. Maybe he was actually starting to like unicorns...They sure had their ups and downs.

Sharp spent the majority of the flight half asleep, lost in hazy analytical daydreams of recent events. Said analyses were less a self critique, and more a way to keep from outright succumbing to her growing desire to sleep, to pass the time as her group made their way to the base of the towering mountain they seemed to be headed for.

So lost in thought was she, that it had taken the mare a few seconds to actually process the fact Star had been talking to her. “Huh? Yeah… I’m just a little tired is all.” She told him, not catching the derogatory name which the thestral had addressed her with. She lazily climbed off of Aerv, taking a few moments to stretch away the soreness she had developed during her extended dragon-back ride.

“Right… so, what now then?” Sharp asked nopony in particular.

Aerv just approached the ground beneath the mountain in silence, letting Sharp climb off him when he finally landed. "I suppose we could set up a camp here..." he said, looking around him, his eyes stopping on Nuria. 'Why is she so hell-bent on killing? She should respect this land, not try to destroy it and the chance of peace treaty along with it...' he thought and sighed, deciding to focus on other things like finding a good enough place for the said camp.

Numerous spots looked suitable for a campsite at the base of the mountain, with it's light forestation, and open grasslands teeming with other wildlife. Nothing overly larger than the members of the group even really seemed to be about. Once they landed that fact didn't change either, nor did it when the sun dipped low and eventually set behind the horizon. Night was coming on fast however and the group would have to work fast to get their camp set up before the night fully encompassed them.

Nuria came back soon with a bundle of sticks and logs, as well as a long pole she had deemed worthy. She dropped the bundle and went far away from anyone else to start working on her new spear. She even found a good rock that would work as the head. Not exactly the greatest replacement in the world, but it would work for now.

Sharp followed Aerv as he went about finding them a suitable campsite. At the site, she lazily tossed together a few pieces of firewood she had gathered with a shaky telekinetic grip as they walked, prompting those inclined to turn them into a fire. She then found someplace to rest within comfortable distance of said fire, dropping her saddlebags and deploying her bedroll on autopilot, before plopping herself atop it for bed.

Aerv sighed as he watched his tired companions, eyeing Nuria specifically. He did not like that she was making herself a new spear. He turned back to the campsite, seeing Sharp throw a few sticks where campfire was supposed to be. He went into the woods to get a few logs, tossing them on to the campfire and spitting some flame on it, the logs instantly catching fire. He lied down around the campfire, making sure it does not accidentally spread. "So..." he began, hoping anyone would be up for a conversation.

Star eyed Sharp grab a few sticks and throw them into where they were going to make the fire place. He raised an eyebrow at her for a moment before shaking his head. He tried to remember what his old unicorn friend said about magic but couldn't put his hoof on it. Shrugging to himself he rolled out his bed roll and laid down on it as Aerv came back with wood, making a fire for them. He glanced over at Nuria for a second before searching around his saddlebags for something to nibble on. He took out a few strips of dried mango and nibbled on them, rolling onto his back and staring at the night sky. His ears perked up at Aerv trying to start a conversation. "So." He said simply back to him.

As the moon rose into the sky and the stars started to appear, the sounds of night started up. All manner of chipping, chirping, and at least a half dozen other sounds echoed out around the group, never seeming to draw too close to the brightly burning blaze of the group's campfire. A peaceful night by all accounts... so far.

Nuria finishes tying the makeshift blade to her spear and stands. "So I'm going to go and catch some fresh fish." She states, spreading her wings. Without so much as another word, she lifts off and starts her low flight towards the nearest body of water she remembered seeing.

Star paused, turning his head slightly towards Nuria as she stood. "Bleh...Fish..." He muttered to himself, finishing off his own little snack. He smiled to himself, listening to Nuria fly off. He waited a few moments before rolling onto his hooves and standing up. He stretched his wings and hooves, looking out towards Nuria as she flew. "I'm gonna follow her. Make sure Sharp's okay." He said to Aerv before taking off after Nuria, keeping pace with her and also keeping his distance. He didn't want her to notice him following her.

Aerv groaned as he saw Nuria finish another spear before nodding at Star. "Make sure she doesn't hurt anything other than regular fish. Hurting a sacred bird was bad enough. Try to remind her that she needs to live by the land's rules, not her own." he said, turning to Sharp and sighing. "She is just tired... Those spells must've taken all the energy out of her." he said to noone in particular, moving Sharp a bit closer to campfire before spitting in it again, making flame a bit more lively.

It wouldn't be hard for Nuria to find a stream, just a little while flying really and she was at the edges of a slowly flowing stream of water. Numerous fish swam about in the gently flowing waters that while not hot, were a very comfortable cool temperature in the aftermath of the day. Star would see the same, just arriving just a moment or two later.

Back at the camp the fire continued to crackly and burn, providing more than an adequate amount of light for Sharp and Aerv to see by, if either were even looking. The mostly clear sky also allowed for the moon to shine in full glory, making the land still fairly visible even in the dark of night.

Nuria went over to the edge of the water and lifted her makeshift spear. She watched the fish carefully, judging their position and soon spotted a nice fat one that looked like it would make a nice meal.

Her spear was lightning quick, stabbing into the water and piercing the fish, then ripping out of the water, a big, fat fish flopping desperately on the shaft. She grabs it and pulls it off the spear, dropping the spear in the water to wash it and smacking the fish against the nearest rock, entire it's life and suffering quickly.

Star dove down towards the trees and quickly hid within their branches. As quietly as he could he made his way over to the river Nuria was at and sat down on a branch to watch her. He hummed quietly to himself for a moment before regretting bring some of his dried mango with him. He was actually quite peckish. He sighed silently before resuming watching Nuria. His eyes widened as he saw her lightning fast reaction. That was a speed he really didn't want to get stabbed at. He winced as he watched her smack the fish against a rock. By Luna if he had to watch her eat that fish raw, he'll be sick again.

Aerv would continue carefully observing his surroundings, laying his tail around Sharp's 'bed' as if to shield her, but would otherwise stay silent and fully awake, awaiting the return of the kirin and thestral that went off to fish. He somewhat wondered what Sharp will eat, she must've probably been hungry.

Nuria shook her spear of water and took her fish over to a larger rock which she climbed up on. She layed down and cut the fish's belly open with a claw, then ripped out it's innards and tossed them back into the water. One of the great things about fish, it could be eaten raw without worry of bacteria. And since Nuria felt she'd be needing as much energy as possible, she took to eating it this way, taking bite from the carcass, making the small bones inside crunch under her teeth.
