Roll(20) with OCRoleplay

Hello everypony!

Heartstring here~! Your wonderful fabulous technical support admin. I've been away for sometime from roleplaying in general and now I've come back to get back in the swing of things. I'd like to offer out more games to play, some that are meant to be shorter and simpler, but more entertaining, so that way we don't end up having to worry about whether something will finish this year or not. I'd like to offer out a hoof into some new games to play with everyone.

I've been apart of this Roll20 site for quite sometime and it's only recently that I started to somewhat get the hang of it, but it's given me ideas to hosts some games on there, for you all to play. They will ideally be short session games that could be finished in a few hours of playing.

so I'd like to know if there are any within here that would love to play some of these kinds of games with me on there? I'll write up the story description to game ideas that I have, and I'll open sign up for a certain number of players.

Now this will be done in a pseudo-DnD style of play, but for the most part it's practically the same as roleplaying normally. I will be your gm that will guide you through the session, and I'll even help you all with the technical part of it, so there is absolutely no need to freak out whether you know DnD or not, or you don't know the rules, it doesn't matter, I WILL tell you all you need to know, and over time I'll even write up my own custom rules to my games.

Now my question to you all is this; What do you guys think about such an idea? Roll20 events with your fellow members of OCRoleplay in custom game sessions with our own personalized rules. If there is enough interest in this, then I'll make small session's for us all to play, and work on making maps and stuff.

So if you have any questions, comments, concerns, excitements, please say them here and I'll get back to you on them.

I find this idea a great idea, Heart. Have a different way to Roleplay then just words on a screen and reading through all that stuff. Plus real time events and all that. I'd love to see this happen.

Mhmm. There will be some words to read, things like what you're character says, hear, smell, etc, but it's nothing massively descriptive like what we do on the forums.

I think the only times it will be massive text walls, would be from me doing introduction posts, or important story pushing posts for you (The Players) to react too.

but indeed, these will all be live events, so I hope the stories I make, at least how I plan them, will end after just a few hours of sitting.

I'm game and have used roll20 before. Never to run a game, but I've participated in a few on that site.

Like the idea for sure. I think I used Roll20 at some point, but it was ages ago. I game though. This sounds like fun, count me in.

Yes, Psuedo-DnD, mainly its just something I'll be working on depending on how the dungeons go I'll constantly edit it.

So far, i'm calling it the "Heart system" (totally not calling it that because of my name, it's because the first campaign i wanted to do was Zelda style and I thought about their health system)

but this Heart system, basically covers how much health you got, how much damage you give/take.

Also note that since I want this fun, I don't want to make things too complicated, and thing's will be pretty much a 1 thing covers all kind of things, and if it doesn't I'll make it up on the spot, and as more games are done, I'll be able to see what does work, what doesn't work, and get feedback from the players.

A little insight to this Heart system is basically, all new players start with 4 Hearts.
1 Heart is comprised of 4 pieces.

Every monster deals 1/4 dmg of a Heart, Mini-bosses deal 1/2 a heart, and Bosses deal 1 full heart.
Players attacking to other monsters, would ( at least for now) deal 1/4 of a heart dmg.

You can also receive Fall dmg if you fall from 30ft or more. At 30ft you lose 1/4 of a heart. for every 10ft after that you will lose another quarter of a heart, so at 60ft you will lose a full heart.

And falling into black pits will dmg you 1/4 of a heart ( unless stated otherwise) and will always send you back to the entrance of the dungeon (unless stated otherwise)

As far as rolls are concerned, they will just be simple roll 1d10 and if you roll 6 or higher you succeed, 5 or less you fail.

This is going to be done so games will be quick, simple, easy, and be more focused toward's it's story aspect rather than having players worry about building characters sheets for these sessions.

as I stated before, I do plan to do bigger stories as well and those will be a little more complicated and involve making sheets for those stories and be more DnD than the small short stories I plan to run.

Well then, this sounds like a nice change in pace. I only used roll20 once, but I'd like to try it again and maybe even see if my D&D group could use it. I can't wait to see how this goes.

Sounds interesting. I'll be busy for some time with exams, but if I get the timing right and happen to be on I'd be more than happy to do something like this.

I suppose I could give it a try. Not sure how I'll do, as I have never touched D&D or anything similar before.

As I said before, prior DnD knowledge for what I plan to run is NOT required. I will make up the system for it, and tell you what you need to roll whenever it comes up. Other than that;

If you know how to roleplay, that's all you need.
