| "It's a start, if nothing else." Ician flipped open the book and began to read, trying to grasp the basics. "Tell me this is written in a language I can read, please..." | |

| The book is legible, but several chapters long. Reading it all, let along learning it, would take quite some time. | |

| "Oh, for- fine, I'll do this later, or... whenever. If we have time." Ician picked up all the books with the familiar rune parts and the one on 'basic' rune magic and tried to stuff it into his saddlebags.
"Wait, no. That's a bad idea." His horn glows brightly, and all the surgical instruments draw themselves out, allowing the books to be inserted at the bottom of the bags. He then places the instruments on top. "Better."
He looked around. "Now, the usual." And he trotted around the room, peering behind bookshelves, to see if any hidden passages or panels or the like could be found.

| Nothing found on the bookshelves seemed to trigger any secret passages or anything, not even the 5 large tomes that were now removed from the shelves and filling Ician's saddlebags triggered anything. | |

| "Right. Nothing... as far as I can tell." Ician trotted over to the windows and looked out, seeing what kind of view was available from this small room. | |

| Seemed to be something of a tower, roughly 4 stories tall that allowed a decent view of a majority of the manor. It was at this point, the door leading out of this room shut. It didn't slam shut, but closed fairly solidly none-the-less. | |

| "Aha! I knew something was amiss!" Ician moved over to the door quickly and tried to pull it open, sword in his telekinetic grip is case something was lurking behind it. | |

| Okay, a door shutting on its own is a cause for concern, Dusk thought. His search through the desk being fruitless, he decided to head for the door as well. Although he stayed a bit behind Ician. | |

| Jon was idly flipping through one of the books on alchemy, and looked up at the sound of the door closing. "Who wants to put a few bits on that opening to a different room?" As he spoke, he slipped the book quietly into his backpack, where it landed on top of a large pile of unread texts. | |

| The door did in fact open to a new room, or should we say ballroom. The large high vaulted ceiling with the occasional pillar spread about the room was graciously decorated with nice tapestries and various paintings. There were 2 other doors on the same side of the room that were unopened, and 3 more on the far side of the room. Nothing else filled the room, leaving the open space quite spacious. | |

| Dusk had to whistle in awe at the sight. "Wow, that's a sight. This reminds me of the time I was a guard at the Grand Galloping Gala," Dusk said as he unconsciously walked in. | |

| "Wait, no, don't walk in!" Ician held Dusk back. "Paranoia demands that I first check for traps."
He throws the table leg into the room, waiting for a response.

| Nothing, the table leg bounded into the room and skidded across the floor. It came to a stop well before the middle of the room, but nothing happened. | |

| "Okay, now it's safe." Ician let Dusk trot into the room, following behind him. "Unless there are other kinds of traps." His sword trembled in anticipation. However, his eyes were on the tapestries and paintings, observing them and seeing what they depicted. | |

| Once again, Jon stayed back. This time he began searching through the bookshelves, placing any items of interest, including the rock from before, through the bag. He had all this extra space, after all. | |

| Considerring the extent of the room, and the nature of what filled it, Jon would be stuffing things into his bag for quite some time. The room that Ician and Dusk were in though would be reminiscent of the gala's ball room. The tapestries themselves proudly displayed scenes from various rather famous historical events, brought about with a nearly stunning amount of grace and tact in the craft of putting them together. As Dusk and Ician continued to study various features of the room, the lights within dimmed, the door to it closed, and somewhere in the background but steadily picking up in volume was music. The sound seemed to peek at a rather enjoyable level and from that point forward played it's course. | |

| "Uh..." Ician looked around. "Magic, all right. Now I'm even more suspicious than I was earlier." He moved over to the first of the two doors on the same side of the room and peeked in, his sword raised. | |

| Nothing, the door opened into a swirling black void that seemed to emphasize the very essence of nothingness. | |

| "Not... that door." Ician closed it and moved on to the next one, opening it with his sword aloft. | |

| Same as before, the door opened into what appeared to be a swirling black void. The music continued playing while this was going on, not pausing in the slightest even when the song finished. When it would dwindle down, it simply reset to playing again. | |

| "I wish I knew what was playing this music." Ician closed the door again and looked around the room, trying to seek out the source of the sound. | |

| "Hmm, an interesting piece. Definitely a waltz. Now if only there was a mare to dance with," Dusk said. He knew any mare that appeared might be another trap, or perhaps a prisoner, but he didn't recall Sin Ester ever being a kidnapper. He also hoped to find where the music was coming from. | |

| Jon looked around the shelves once more, then at the door. He sighed. It was probably time to go join the others. He looked around at his handiwork; about half of the books and a smaller fraction of the items were now safely in his possession, where he would surely read or use them eventually. He went to the door they had left through, and opened it. | |

| Despite the searching, the source of the music would remain elusive as it seemed to come from everywhere so that it completely filled the room no matter where the ponies were.
Jon would open the door to what seemed to be sunlight and outside at first, but careful inspection would reveal it to actually be the garden from earlier. Various flowers and hedges surrounded the brick walkways which all convened onto a rather elaborate and somewhat complicated water fountain. Off to the side the hedges were much taller, hinting at a maze.

| Jon trotted in, sniffing the air for magic and to get a general sense of what plants were being grown. He stayed near the doorway, wanting to make sure it didn't close on him as he investigated. | |
