PostSubject: Ponytale (Reboot)   Fri Nov 11, 2016 7:30 pm

Long ago, two races ruled over the Earth: Humans and Equestrians. One day, a war broke out between the two races and after a long series of battle, the humans were victorious. The greatest of their magicians sealed the equestrians to the Underground with a magic barrier. However, this barrier is not perfect.
Many years after the war - over thousands of years ago infact - in 201X, a human climbs Mount Horse for their own mysterious reason. It is said that those who climb the mountain never return.

Our story begins with our protagonist, the human. Having come to the mountain for unknowable reasons, he found a hole in the caverns at the top of Mount Horse. When investigating closer, he stumbled due to a vine he failed to notice and fell for what seemed an eternity, passing out in the process.
Before he had woken up, he'd been noticed by a small creature, one that disappeared as he began to stir.

Upon waking up, he is greeted with a view of the hole he fell through, light cast down upon his prone form like a spotlight. Surprisingly, he found that he had sustained no injuries in the fall, despite the odds and how far he had fallen - which presented another problem. No vines were long enough to reach him, not to mention their probable weakness, so climbing out was not an option. He had fallen upon a bed of yellow flowers which grew in a neat pattern, too neat to be wildly growing ones. The surrounding area was barren of anything else however, besides a few supporting pillars. But there was a doorway. One that might lead out of this place. Maybe the caretaker of the flowers was nearby and could help?

After a long while, the human stirred from his forced nap, sitting up and rubbing his head. He wore a gray sweater over a simple white tee and some cargo shorts. He looked up at the hole he fell down and frowned, wondering how lucky he was to have survived that drop. He stood up, dusting himself off and checking over himself for any injuries. He was quite surprised that he had none and quickly narrowed his eyes a bit. "That can't be possible..." He mused to himself for a moment before shaking his head and ignoring it for now. He had other things to worry about, like how to get back up to the surface.

He tisked a bit when he saw that the vines were long enough and sighed, looking down at the flowers he had been laying on. He reached down and picked one, holding it in his hand as he looked around. Maybe he actually died and that's why he wasn't hurt...Or maybe this is all just a dream and then he'll wake up safe and sound at home. He forced himself to focus on his current situation, whether real or not.

Two braziers surrounded a corridor near the bed of flowers, crackling gently in the otherwise silent chamber. They had been carefully placed far enough from the flowers that any embers would not accidentally light them ablaze. The corridor itself seemed short and had a door at the end of it, matching the slightly decayed architecture. Given the circumstances, it seemed to be the only way out. At least it looked stable and not prone to collapsing.

Star looked at the corridor for a moment before sighing. "Only one way to go I guess." He muttered to himself as he started walking towards the door at the end of it. He idly twirled the flower in his hand as he walked, wondering to himself who was even down here. The flowers were healthy but the architecture was old. Who even built this? More and more questions just kept popping up in his head. He'd have to ask his questions when he found someone.

The room beyond the doorway was completely dark, save for a spot of light in the middle of it, where a small creature was watching straight at Star.
"Howdy! I'm Peanut! Peanut the Breezie!" The small creature introduced itself. It had the look of a small blue horse with two antennae on it's head, a green poofy mane and bug wings on it's back.
"Hmm.. You're new to the Underground, aren'tcha? Golly, you must be so confused. Like how you didn't get injured in the fall! Roga didn't tell you anything, did he? Somepony oughta teach you how things work around here!"
"I guess little old me will have to do. Ready? Here we go!"

Star's features slowly faded away, leaving only his outlines visible to him apart from a red heart-shape where his actual heart would be. There were also some numbers with his name being visible next to something that read LV 1. Moving around would show Star that the heart-shape followed him around. For all passersby it would look like a white box was drawn around Star.
"See that there? That is your SOUL, the very culmination of your being. Your SOUL starts off weak, but it'll grow stronger if you gain lots of LV.
What's LV stand for? Why, LOVE, of course! Increasing your LOVE also increase your HP, which stands for HAPPINESS POINTS. Also, don't mind the random capitalized words, that happens sometimes."
Peanut then looked to the sides and smiled coyly before looking back.
"You want some LOVE, don't you? Don't worry, I'll share some with you!" Peanut followed this with a wink that seemed to leave a sparkle in the air for a moment while he stuck his tongue out.
"Down here, LOVE is shared through little white..." He looked slightly confused for a moment, looking up and down a bit as he held a small hoof to his chin, tapping it lightly.
"Friendliness pellets! That's what they were. Their name sounds sorta odd though. I dunno why they were named that, the king is a weirdo like that. Anyway, you ready? Move around, catch as many as you can!" Five pellets suddenly appeared around Peanut and slowly began to move towards Star's SOUL.

Star looked around the room, squinting into the darkness to try and see if there was anything else. He didn't notice the small creature till it started talking, making him turn his head around to find the source of the voice. It was only then that he saw the small creature talking to him. He blinked once, then twice then stepped back and stared in utter confusion. "W-what are you?! And how are you talking?!" He blurted out, mostly ignoring what the breezie was saying. His brain screamed at him that this wasn't right, that this was just a hallucination or something.

He panicked momentarily at his fading features, looking at the red heart for a moment. He looked at the breezie, listening to him warily. He didn't trust this situation and he didn't trust this...thing. When he was told to collect these...friendliness pellets, he couldn't help but feel like this was some kind of trick or something. But he always gave people a chance, so he gave the thing the benefit of the doubt and move towards the friendliness pellets.

"Wait what?" Peanut was not sure he heard this before. Did this human not know of the legends? The ancient war between Equestrians and Humans? How his kind 100% kicked the Equestrians flanks?
"Ah buck it. Roll with it."
"I'm sure you remember, right? Long ago there was a war between humans and Equestrians and after a one-sided fight, we were sealed underground. Your kind feared us, even though they were more powerful. Must have wiped us from the history books afterwards."
"Seriously Roga, you told him nothing? Really?"

The initial confusion and panic would play to his benefit however, for he could see Star moving towards the pellets. As he got closer to them, Peanut's smile would turn creepier and creepier.
Almost there... Just a little more! Come on!!!

Star gave Peanut a confused, wary look as he mentioned a war between Humans and Equestrians. He had probably heard of a story to something like that but that was just a fantasy story. Fiction. Fake. It couldn't be real, there's just no way. "That sounds like something out of a fairy tale. Only war I hear about is war between ourselves." He said, watching Peanut. Upon seeing his smile turning creepier, he paused in his movement. He then moved away from the pellets. "Oh right. I forgot. I was told never to take things from strangers. Sorry." He said, waiting for Peanut's reaction.

Peanut wasn't really listening to what Star said, too focused was he on what would happen when the pellets came into contact with the fresh human SOUL.
But when they never did and he heard him say things about not taking things from strangers, he smiled while screaming internally.

"Well that's good! You won't have to go against what you were taught then! After all, you're in the company of your new best friend now!" He said while his smile turned the creepy up to 11. "Now, how about we try again? Your SOUL really could use some LOVE." He said with a coy smile while 5 more pellets appeared and began moving to where Star's SOUL was now.

Star continued to watch Peanut, making notes of all the things her did. "Listen here you...aahh...breezie...? You can drop the act. I might not be that smart, but you're creepy smile makes it blatantly obvious you have something up your sleeve." He said, narrowing his eyes at the winged horse thing. He moved around to dodge the pellets once more, not wanting to found out what happens if he touched them.

As the pellets went past Star's SOUL and Peanut heard Star telling him to drop the act, he put on an innocent smile.
"Are youuuuu 100% sure? No regrets? No desire to partake in this little game?" His smile got bigger and bigger, until it was like a smile of a murderer laughing on the inside gleefully.

And as if a light had been switched off, a new face replaced the smile, far more reminiscent of the one Peanut had made when he was talking about best friends.
"Okay then, brat. No takebacksies."
Dozens of pellets appeared in a circle around Star.
"DIE." Peanut said while laughing maniacally as best he could with his high-pitched voice while the pellets closed in around Star's SOUL slowly.

As they got closer and closer to touching, it seemed as if all was lost for our hero before the journey had even began, when suddenly, feathers surrounded Star's SOUL, blocking the pellets!
Peanut's features shifted to that of confusion. "Dafu-" He tried to finish his sentence before he felt something moving beneath him.
It was a spring-loaded board that he was sitting on the entire time.
He was launched through the air towards the ceiling at really high speed, accompanied by a panicked yell from the breezie as he tried to slow his ascent but to no avail, as he kept rising towards the ceiling until he hit it with an almost comical thud and a small, almost indistinguishable crater appeared in the carved stone.

As this happened, a new, larger figure appeared from within the darkness of the room that was illuminated only from Peanut's position, taking one of it's forehooves off of a switch to what presumably connected to the springboard mechanism. This one appeared to be more akin to a horse in size, but it was different. For one, it had WINGS! Star was looking at a bloody pegasus, straight out of the myths of humankind! Second, this one was a light shade of yellow, with a light blue mane, rather than the more natural colors he had come to associate with horses. If the breezie and this pegasus were any indication, this "Underground" was filled with pastel-colored creatures like them.
"What a miserable creature, torturing such a poor, innocent, youth.” It said in a clearly female voice, giving a look of apology, as if saying she was sorry for not getting rid of the breezie sooner.
