| As the more observant of you equines have already concluded, National Identity is dead. With that in mind, the various reasons behind its premature demise have been taken into consideration during the construction of its successor: National Identity Reloaded. On that note, I would like to ask that only those of you who intend on seeing this thread through to the end post in this interest/sign-up thread. Please don’t waste our time if you intend on dropping out ten posts in. You’ll end up on the blacklist, where it’s dark, and nopony can hear you scream. National Identity Reloaded, or, NIR, is a space-themed civilization simulation thread. At this point, it’s not much more than a concept and a handful of formulas, but we’d like you potential participants to detail the requested information within provided link. The concepts described within the doc will be described in greater detail upon the eventual release of NIR The doc, in all its formatted goodness. | |

| It's cheating and I know it, but first! I may as well put all my stuff here since I'm done with it, so I won't forget about my nation sometime down the road when I'm working with the NIR numbers when you all inevitably decide to start an interstellar war and I have to compute battle outcomes every day. - Nation (it's very long):
Nation Name: The Cieriaen Consortium Planets:Cieriaen System: Concord: 1.05 AU (originally Equus) Concord has a large, sprawling metropolis, which eventually aims to cover the entire surface of the planet but has not yet done so; however, it slowly but surely creeps across the surface like a fast-growing moss in optimal growth conditions that has been fed fertiliser. Tall, high skyscrapers fill the skyline of Concord, but the Undercity consists of thousands of small hives within which the changelings exist. Think Coruscant if you will. The current population stands at 25 billion people, the majority of whom are changelings, and the number just grows by the day. Serenn: 0.82 AU, Aim for colonisation Chrysalis: 1.25AU, Surface devastated by earthquakes and volcanic activity. Hospitable, possibly, eventually, will be looked at for future colonisation. - Concord:
Race(s):Changelings and Unicorns. Locally both of them are more humanoid than equine, tending to stand on two hind legs rather than four. They have hands and legs as well, but besides this and a better-positioned centre of gravity they are similar to their canon forms. Ethnic Makeup:Changelings - 60% Unicorns - 40% Government Type: Absolute Diarchy Current Leaders: Empress Ciergey Sergla of the Glacian Component and Queen Mother Espia of the Hive Component Ciergey: Smart, intelligent, and endlessly difficult to comprehend, Ciergey is one of the kinder diarchs the Consortium has seen in a while. Her inexperience and age leads her to be generally dependent on the advice of her Councillors, however, and her High Councillor Ician is even more intelligent and very much more ruthless. Espia: Espia comes from a long line of Queen Mothers with a heavy burden to bear; the wellbeing of her entire people rests on her rulership. Cautious, careful, paranoid, but nonetheless smart, she does a good job of ruling her people and has generally avoided many pitfalls her predecessors fell into in moments of hotheaded impulsiveness… but equally some good but risky opportunities tend to pass her by. Her consorts do not always share such careful practices, however, and sometimes this influences the ruling of her Component. Government Spending Focus:Law and Order/Defence: 42.5% Scientific Research: 16.0% Education: 10.7% Healthcare: 10.5% Social Welfare: 5.1% Industry: 2.2% Miscellaneous: 13.0% Capital City: Halcyia, the biggest and currently only city on the planet of Concord, having grown large enough to consume every other city on the planet so far. Its description is the same as that of Concord. Leading Industry: Mining (Gemstones) Currency Name: Harmonics (colloquially known as Nicks) National Motto: Harmony at all CostsNational Flag: - Flag:
National Emblem: - Emblem:
National Animal: Wasp National Religion: Royal Divine / Queen Mother Royal Divine - The religion of the Glacian Component. It is believed that the founder of Glacia, Emperor Glaceon, was himself a deity, and he partially passed down his divinity through the sovereigns of the nation. Every time the Emperor or Empress chose his or her successor - who did not necessarily have to be related by blood - the mark of the Divine would be passed down, and when the previous ruler died the new one would rise to full demigodhood. The ruler, therefore, was worshipped as the Ascendant, or the Royal Divine, and this practice continued even after the Unification of the System. The Royal Divine is not said to be omnipotent, nor possessing of great power, but rather be unfathomably wise and just, untainted by the sins and darkness of normal ponies. It is said that the Royal Divine makes no mistakes - and any mistakes that might occur are the result of mishandling at the lower rungs. Queen Mother - The religion of the Hive Component. The ruling Queen Mother presides over all changelings through the authority of the Hivemind, a telepathic mental link connecting all changelings into a single mental chatroom of sorts into which their minds are bared, while retaining some measure of individuality, the amount increasing with the rank of the changeling. The Queen Mother is worshipped by all changelings as their goddess, and the position is passed down by blood, traditionally to the eldest. However, extreme distance tends to weaken the link, and changelings have not yet ventured beyond the Cieriaen system... National Anthem: The Royal Divine ( The Imperial March) / Sweet Mother ( Mother Changeling) National History: The Cieriaen Consortium is the result of an interplanetary merging of two empires, the Hive on the planet Chrysalis and the Imperial Utopia of Glacia on the planet Equus. Glacia evolved in a world rife with international conflict, eventually rising to world domination through employment of military might, strategy, and lots and lots of patience. The Hive, on the other hand, was fighting a bloody battle with one other country on its soil, one from which it drew its emotional sustenance through captured prisoners. When Glacian technology finally reached a sufficiently high level to allow for interplanetary travel, Glacian visitors landed on Chrysalis in Hive-controlled territory. So began the correspondence between Glacia and the Hive that led from diplomatic introductions to scheming against the Hive’s enemy to eventual kinetic orbital bombardment which allowed the Hive to completely conquer Chrysalis… at the cost of sort of devastating the place. Eventually this alliance evolved into a full union, so the Hive could gain access to a new food source (and planet) and Glacia could gain access to the undyingly loyal workforce of a changeling population larger than their own. Renamings were had, mass emigrations effected, cultural mingling performed, and the end result was a single planet full of people under a poorly-meshed diarchy hammering the concept of interspecies harmony into its citizens in order to create an artificial peaceful coexistence not commonly seen in the government itself. The current two leaders, however, seem to be more amicable, and as a whole the Consortium is moving into more cooperative times. National Merit: Most of what makes the Consortium the most awesome cool nation in the universe falls under Miscellaneous, but in condensed form it is the ultimate control it has over its population, the creativity of its best minds, and the intelligence of the people who brought entire worlds to heel. Miscellaneous: The Empress of the Glacian Component is advised by an Inner Council, led by High Councillor Tact Ician and Deputy Councillor Insight. The Inner Council comprises the Councillors and Ministers, who are responsible for running the separate departments, and are overseen by the High Councillors and the Empress. The Queen Mother is surrounded by her Consorts, who are responsible both for her well-being and the well-being of the Hive Component. Corruption in the Consortium is very low, but that’s because most corruption happens out in the open - the Glacian Ministers receive a ludicrously high pay sanctioned by policies and legislation. This, in conjunction with an active (and well-paid) Anti-Corruption Bureau and draconian laws, keeps corruption to a minimum in the Glacian Component. Changelings, on the other hand, tend to be loyal to the Queen Mother to the death and their minds are generally exposed 24/7, so the Hive Component presents no problems either. The Consortium’s economy is fuelled by very strong Mining industry, occupying large swathes of mineral-rich land. The company responsible for most of the industry, SerglaCorp, is government-affiliated (read: owned in all but name), as are many other large presences in significant industries such as Information Technology and Arms Manufacturing. Changelings occupy most of the lower-end positions, being very useful mindless drones to do more mindless jobs. Legislation regarding employment is very employer-friendly, with almost negligible minimum-wage laws and an ability to retrench workers for almost any reason whatsoever. The sole union in existence, the Worker’s Union, is permanently chaired by the Minister for Industry and Trade. As a result, unemployment is at almost zero, though workers aren’t exactly the most well-paid and income inequality is rather high. However, safe and satisfactory working conditions are harshly enforced by both the Union and the Ministry of Manpower. Laws in the Consortium tend to the draconian side, with capital punishment falling in the list of appropriate punishments (and sometimes the only punishment) for a plethora of crimes, from murder to culpable homicide to drug-smuggling to unlawful entry, reluctant as judges are to pass such judgement. Corporal punishments, predominantly caning, are also common. Charges of sedition and contempt of court are thrown around liberally by the government and government officials, as are libel and defamation suits. To date there has been no instance where a government official has lost a defamation suit. Defence and Law and Order are high up on the Consortium’s priority list, with one strong arm to back up the draconian laws and the other to keep interferers out. With the elimination of local competition but the uncovering of FTL travel, the presence of a very paranoid High Councillor promises the creation of an interstellar navy very soon. Presently, its own planetary bombardment of Chrysalis in mind, the Consortium’s planets are generally well-fortified against orbital incursions. Thanks to the strong Information Technology sector, the Consortium tends to be quite advanced in the latest technological and magical advancements, which translates into more effective (if sometimes insufficiently tested) weaponry. Ships:Prefix: ICS (In Concord’s Service) Registry Prefix:ICS 1210 ICS 1310 ICS 1510 General Appearance: Consortium ships vary greatly in appearance, since many are manufactured from the private sector whose creative directors don’t always turn out the same sort of general shape. However, in general the Consortium employs angular ships in its navy, not unlike the dagger-shaped ships of the Star Wars Imperial Navy.

| Nation Name: Sargaes Governance Planets:Sargaes System (G-type Main Sequence)Sargaes I (Uninhabitable, 0.4 EAU)Sargaes II (High-Challenge Colonizable, 0.75 EAU)Sargaes III (Home Planet, 0.98 EAU)Sargaes IV (Low-Challenge Colonizable, 1.2 EAU)Sargaes V (High-Challenge Colonizable, 1.56 EAU)Sargaes VI (Protostar Gas Giant, 5.1 EAU)Sargaes VII (Massive Gas Giant, 9.4 EAU)Sargaes VIII (Gas Giant, 15.1 EAU)Sargaes VIV (Uninhabitable, 26.6 EAU)Sargeas X (Uninhabitable, 31.2 EAU)- Sargaes I:
A small, blisteringly hot mass of rock scoured of anything resembling an atmosphere by the looming colossus it orbits, Sargaes I is effectively impossible to colonize or even safely orbit. A small instrumental station is maintained around it, on the theory that it's interesting to learn about but that machines can be replaced and thestrals cannot; even a momentary failure of the massive ablative shielding that makes the station possible would kill anything alive on it. Approximate Planetary Population: Zero.
- Sargaes II (Erinye):
If the Solar system in which Earth is found is taken as a general standard, Sargaes II would be the equivalent of Venus, although only in that it's similar in axis tilt and size to its habitable sister planet. Sargaes II's size is actually very close to that of Earth but so much closer to the sun that multicelluar life was boiled away, leaving only extremophile single-cells. It has very little surface water, the majority of it turning its atmosphere into one gargantuan hurricane that flows across the boiling hot surface like a tidal wave, albeit on a highly regular pattern. It's this last feature of Sargaes II that has allowed it to be colonized in narrow bands of surface construction with a majority located under the crust and using immense solid-state surface heatsinks to leech off heat into the raging storm that regularly passes by. Nestled between the near-molten surface with inferior cloud cover and the portion stripped bare by the planetary storm, the colony has made a good accounting of itself. Because the predominant city on Sargaes II is Erinye, it's generally been accepted as the planet's name. Approximate Planetary Population: 677 million.
- Sargaes III:
Sargaes III is closer to its sun and mildly larger than Earth. It has a single moon (Silvis) that is 9.2% of the planet's size (compared to Earth's moon which is 7.4% of the planet's size) but a great deal of the stellar mass left over from the creation of the planet and its satellite remained suspended in orbit as several equatorial rings due to the gravitational forces of Silvis which prevented the debris from being drawn into Sargaes III's mass. The slightly higher gravity ensured that it has a thick enough atmosphere to shed the increased solar radiation of its sun, but this atmosphere has also caused the planet to retain heat, making it a jungle world with relatively small polar caps and significant surface water, although this surface water gathers into very few large bodies, leaving almost no navigable water. Approximate Planetary Population: 10.3 billion.
- Sargaes IV:
Where the 'sister worlds' of Sargaes III and Erinye are complicated by being too warm and wreathed in thick atmospheres that retain solar heat, Sargaes IV has the opposite problem: a relatively thin atmosphere that bleeds heat like a screen sieve. All and all, the problem of colonizing Sargaes IV was a very simple one: immense domes with air recycling and warming equipment protected from solar bombardment and killing cold, and deep wells were able to reach rivers of liquid water under the permafrost. But the ease of colonizing and the stability of the population made the thestrals ambitious and a vast program has begun to 'fish' the endless wells of gasses around the three system gas giants and 'blink' the collection ships (more a gigantic metal bubble with a piloting rig strapped to the front) into orbit around Sargaes IV to discharge their cargo. Their belief, borne out so far by very definite signs of the atmosphere becoming thicker and more resilient against solar rays, is that they can fully terraform the world and make it habitable without dome cities, although still bitterly cold. Approximate Planetary Population: 3.1 billion.
- Sargaes V:
Cold (although not quite as much as IV, interestingly enough, because of VI) and airless, constantly bombarded by solar radiation, and containing freakishly high levels of priceless rare earth elements including critical actinides, Sargaes V is a place the thestrals would prefer to avoid, but know they have to make work. Derisively called 'the snowball', Sargaes V is covered by domes housing factory-cities that are fully autonomous extraction, refinement, processing, and construction facilities. In the 'pox cities' surrounding these domes (so named because they remind many people who see the pattern of the settlements of pox sores spread over the surface), the workers live a ramshackle but highly independent existence, protected from social mores back home by the fact that they 'bring home the bacon' reliably and with great economy of labor. Of the citizenship of the Governanace, they are simultaneously the least wealthy and the most zealously proud of their race and civilization. Subsequently, a majority of the 'grunts' of the Governance military are from The Snowball and in respect to their profession back home, are respectfully called 'diggers'. Approximate Planetary Population: 793 million.
- Sargaes VI (Thestra):
Generally speaking, the major reason that the inner Sargaesssans are flourishing or at least somewhat inhabitable (except for Sargaes I) is the hot main-sequence star in the center of the system. Until there were major surveys and studies of Sargaes VI, however, it wasn't fully appreciated how much the intricate dance of Sargaes and the titanic Thestra contributed. Eternally poised on the cusp of becoming a star itself but fated to never accumulate the energy to ignite (at least according to thestral projections), the gargantuan gas world the thestrals named after their mythological progenitor is the 'mother' to at least a dozen inhabitable moons that are each large enough to be a planet in their own right if they were in an independent orbit. Several are water worlds and a couple are fairly rocky albeit with some liquid water; all are on the upper end of average temperature for easy colonization. The so-called Three Jewels fall in between rocky and liquid with natural heat sinks that made them exceptionally fertile ground for transplanted foliage from Sargaes III, making them the only worlds outside of the home world that require minimal technological accommodation to live on. Deflection from the magnetic fields of the host of uninhabitable moons around Thestra effectively shield the Daughters and Jewels from the blasting of the fusion furnace at the center of the planetary system and, ironically enough, create enough eddies of energetic particles that the combined effect is ultimately what prevents the ignition of Thestra. Approximate Planetary Population: Daughters: 1.1 billion. Jewels: 11.7 billion.
- Sargaes VII (Copra):
Nearly as far again as Thestra from the sun, Sargaes VII is distinct for its immensity and its oddly minuscule number of moons. Thestral astronomers theorize that the greater gravitational pull of Thestra caused it to gradually 'steal' most of its sister giant's moons. This theory tickled the public fancy to such a degree that it actually spawned a new subset of myths around the goddess Thestra and how she, desperate for a large family despite already being a mother a dozen times over, flattered and cajoled and even sometimes stole the children of her colder and more distant sister Copra. Mythology then looped all the way back around to astronomy and the eleven moons of Copra are called the Fidelaides in honor of the mythological fidelity of Copra's remaining children to their gentle mother who truly loved but struggled to express it. Despite Copra's much more distant position relative to Thestra, there are actually two of its moons that orbit exceptionally close to the gas giant and are bathed in enough of the radiant energy from the storms raging in its core for ice world colonization methods to be successful. The moons Gilla and Silla, also called The Twins, have relatively sparse populations but still serve as critical scientific colonies (although their populations both include far more than researchers and their families). Approximate Planetary Population: Gilla: 1.2 million. Silla: 1.19 million.
- Sargaes VIII (Enigma):
Possibly one of the greatest astronomical mysteries prior to the ability to send instrumental probes towards the edges of the planetary system was the strange appearance of the last gas giant in the system on telescopes. It appeared to instruments, even with detailed analysis by computer that it was a binary planet, something that the astronomers couldn't imagine being possible with a gas giant. If anything, photographs from the probe were even more confusing, as the probe photographed a giant moon drawn in so close to the gas giant that the moon appeared to be wrapped in the upper atmosphere of the larger planet. Eventual manned surveys and close sampling and examination concluded that the appearance was literally true: the two bodies were actually sharing a part of the same atmosphere. Moreover, this meant that a rocky world far enough from the sun that it would be expected to be cold as vacuum actually warm and shielded enough from cosmic radiation to be a viable target for colonization. Only the poles could be safely colonized, as a coriolis effect kept the atmosphere above them fairly stable and free of the turbulence and storms that would occasionally transit from the gas giant. The Enigma colonies are exclusively scientific due to their hazardous nature and distance from the core colonized worlds. Approximate Planetary Population: 430
- Sargaes VIV (Vivian):
"Vivian" as it's generally known from the numerals used in its designation is an icy and airless planetoid on the extreme edge of the Sargaes planetary system. Although far too far away from the sun to be colonized itself, it's large enough to have significant gravity and represents a successful experiment in building an orbital colonial structure that could sustain itself without light, heat, a planet's magnetic field, or any of the other features of the other planets around which the thestrals had built other orbital colonies. The experiment proved a success, and Sylvanas is regularly expanded to accommodate an ever-growing population living in what amounts to the lightless depth of space. Approximate Planetary Population: 23.7 million.
- Sargaes X (Area 11:
Sargaes X is almost identical in composition, size, and gravitational field to "Vivian" but after the immense success of the vast orbital structure that could safely and comfortably house millions, it was decided that extending the influence of the nascent thestral space navy from a secure facility at the outermost edge of the planetary system would be enormously beneficial to the security of the Governance. Subsequently, the planet was designated "Area 11" and construction of a shipyard, supply base, repair facilities, and automated extraction and refinement installations was begun. With a large population nearby to help feed the massive crew and supply them with labor and comfortable facilities for leave, Area 11 is the second most important military center in the entire Governance and regularly hosts the second and primary-line warships of the Imperial Governance Navy. Approximate Planetary Population: 4.1 million. Races(s)Thestral: Omnivorous reptomammalians with a humanoid body structure, bat-like wings, reptilian pupils, sinuous prehensile tails and short (1-2 inches) claws on their fingers. Government Makeup: Imperial Republic. The head of state (generally an empress) is selected by a Tribal Council, each of which is elected by one of six hundred thirty-two Regional Governances which are, in turn, elected by the Village Head Mares which are selected by the members of their individual villages. The terminology for the positions has endured despite "villages" the size of small cities and "tribes" of over a hundred million. Current Leader: Empress Ampris II. Ampris represents only the second time in history where the child of one empress is elected as her immediate successor. Tending to be brash, abrasive, and has the general mien of a commoner despite an upbringing more in line with an aristocrat, she is an extremely popular leader among the general populace and well-respected by the Council, who have learned to their occasional consternation that the loose tongue and cheerful disregard for "proper" dress and behavior conceals a first-rate intellect. Government Spending Focus:6% Government HSA Matching Program 2.5% Temporary Welfare 8% Long-Term Welfare 12.25% Security Research Grants 30% Infrastructure 16.75% Extraterrestial Research Grants 10.5% Perpetual Education Endowment 14% Security/Defense Capital City: Rospitallias Bastion. Essentially a gargantuan military facility located deep beneath one of the few genuine mountains on the planet, it has a very low civilian to military population and has been made the center of government because it's supremely defensible and secure, primarily from the elements. Leading Industry: Resource Exploitation/Processing National Motto: In Fitness Life, In Strength Mastery- National Symbol/Flag:
National Religion: Hellanistic Polytheism (pantheon of gods/goddesses similar to the Greek pantheon) National History:The life of the thestrals of Sargaes III is best epitomized in the phrase "survival of the fittest". The extreme biodiversity of a planet that oozes with all the conditions for life to thrive and grow meant that the first sapient species had a sheer cliff to scale against literally thousands of species that bristled with all the adaptions that came of winning their particular "adapt or die" struggle. Thestrals largely did this by being extremely nomadic, literally carrying everything they couldn't possibly find on the go on their backs as they went from place to place. An abundance of microbes meant that anything that could decay would decay and decay very quickly: food began to spoil in hours, wood would become rotten in a week, natural fibers began to fall apart in days. The victory over these facts of life coincidentally catapulted the thestrals very rapidly from a nomadic species staying endlessly mobile so they couldn't be pinned down and eaten, to a settled people that easily harvested the hunters for food, materials, and luxuries. The circumstances of their world forced them to move from stone directly to anything that resisted corrosion; there was no real iron age on Sargaes Three. One major advantage they had because of the extreme abundance of life and how rapidly that life was broken down and then compressed by more life building on top of it was that sources of petroleum tended to be extremely abundant and easy to reach. They quickly learned that the black, stinking, inedible sludge that bubbled up in pools all over the place burned better than wood, repelled water, and created a stiff malleable material that wouldn't rot when drenched by the torrential rain that was a constant of everyday life. When it became possible to smash their way deep into the low rocky hills that were virtually invisible beneath the canopy, they added coal to their wealth of materials and an existence revolving around the immense potential of petrochemicals was born. With the ability to settle came further means of conquering the natural environment: social organization provided safety in numbers, a stationary existence necessitated finding ways to avoid totally depleting resources, and a concentration of mental effort pushed forward medicine (although the thestral immune system tended to be highly robust because of the unusually high levels of dangerous microbes). Family units created villages, which tended to band together with other villages, and these coalitions tended to reach out to other coalitions. This tendency towards being highly social and not particularly competitive towards their own kind was driven by a deeply-rooted instinct of "us against them" with the "them" being everything that wasn't another thestral--and the list of "everything" never seemed to stop growing. The spread of stationary settlements made it very necessary to devise ways to quickly and safely travel from place to place, and from this need (and the abundance of towering trees with 50-ft diameter trunks) came an immense network of aerial roads and when it became possible, short take off and landing craft and platforms that allowed the thestrals to travel above the towering canopy from place to place. Getting above the canopy also triggered the first development of an actual religion, as thestrals finally were in a place where the "sky" wasn't branches but a ceiling of swirling clouds watched over by a blindingly bright orb in the day and a one of beautiful silver in the night. It wouldn't be until the development of an imperial system with an elected empress, a development only possible when communicating in real time with a high degree of reliability became feasible, that the thestrals decided that it would be interesting to see if the orbs in the sky could be reached somehow. By this point, the resource and industrial bases tended to be extremely sophisticated and very much able to manufacture the components needed for such an initiative: fuels, ceramic tiles, rocket parts, microcircuitry, and a way to monitor their attempts to reach the stars. Their attempts at this would make the often comical abundance of failures in human space programs look like the efforts of experienced professionals; eventually, they stopped numbering rocket models when the number of failed ones reached the triple digits. But part of learning what to do right is learning what is being done wrong, and the thestrals compiled extensive records of how not to get a rocket to space reliably, and how not to make the journey survivable, and how not to get their attempts back intact. A notable feature of these failures was the extremely low number of causalities, because previous experience with anything even remotely volatile made the thestrals almost paranoid about putting a living person anywhere near the pile of explosive junk that constituted their rockets. Primarily, death came after the craft became highly reliable and safe, but correctly using that reliable and safe technology was not well understood. Determined to conquer the challenge before them the way they'd conquered all the other challenges their species had overcome, the thestrals persevered and discovered what a truly hostile environment looked like... and just as surely committed to making this hostile environment bow down to them the way that a world of predators had. National Merit: "We're thestrals. 'Nuff said." ShipsGeneral Appearance: SIV ships have a hexagonal appearance that tends to come to a sharp point in front of the ship with the engines housed in recessed pods that are designed to present as aerodynamic shape as possible, an artifact of the initial space program which had to squeeze every little scrap of aerodynamic efficiency out of designs to allow rockets to exit the relatively thick atmosphere. The only apparent concession to their recognition that aerodynamics are irrelevant in space are large t-shaped "bridges" that are projected from each side of the hull on ships that are meant to be non-combat and not enter a planetary atmosphere.

| Nation Name: The Altarian Scion Imperium. Major Planets in Atelerix Binary Star SystemReach (Status: Uninhabitable, 0.52 AU)Heavens (Status: Mark for colonization under heavy advisement, 0.77 AU)Divinity (Status: Colonization expected soon after attainment and processing of the council, 1.01 AU)Eternium (Status: Home world, 1.31 AU)Repentance (Status: Massive Gas Giant mostly comprised of Helium, Hydrogen and Ammonia, 1.36AU)Dark Void (Status: Possible Colonization based around how quickly the world can be changed slightly, 4.7 AU)Perception (Status: Virtually Unhabitable, 7.2 AU)- Eternium:
Located right next to a large hydrogen and helium gas giant from a theorized cosmic event that shattered two planets. Eternium was one of those shards forming a smaller planet orbiting the giant. Two main sequence stars, one larger and the other marginally smaller provides light for this planet. Having several moons, approximately three major ones and four minor moons, orbit the planet. A ring space station surrounds the planet as a protective and living place for some of the population and this is where they build most of their ships. The planet itself is mostly comprised of land mass though only 10 % of the planet surface is actually covered in water. The planet caps are covered in a thick layer of glaciers that cover 12 % of the planet. Most of the water is located in marshes and swamps that cover 22 % of the planet. The other 66% is mountains, steppe a few deserts and the majority is low hills and flat plains ranging across the planet. For the most part the planet is not volcanically active, eruptions aren't that spectacular or explosive, rather it just oozes out from fractures between plates. The atmosphere is mostly comprised with a Oxygen/Argon/Nitrogen mix but with a fair amount of ammonia in the air. The seasons on the planet are strange and not completely in line with a standard system, instead it is more like, Spring, light winter, summer, fall, and winter. A standard day is 36 hours long with two weeks every three months is complete darkness. They orbit the gas giant every four and half weeks. The year is 1473 days long divided into seasons which is the system of months. Generally the planet is cooler averaging 68 F during the summer and during the winter and cooler periods it is around 26-33 F. Most of the planet is not populated save for the areas designated for food production or non-intrusive mining operations. Other areas areas are dedicated to religious and Military production though less then 38 % of the planet is ever being used for anything. Everything else has been preserved for religious and cultural relations. Most of the population is centered around major cities with some other major installations Orbiting the planet. Across the plant there are ruins that are held sacred to their people, these ruins are extraterrestrial in nature and advanced. Approximate Population: The population on the actual planet is around 6 billion and another 2 billion in space station ring that surrounds the planet. - An Eternium City:
Race(s):Most of the race is Dragons, called the Seraphim, divided up into four types based on their ability and desire to learn one way that funnels into the government. The lower gravity and spending many years in this world in many generations they were changed. Their bodies lost the ability to fly, their throats instead gained a stranger ability of being able to project loud crones that can deafen those ears unable to hear it. Having long ears and fur a top their heads to protect them from the cold. Evolving long three fingers and a long thumb to help them while loosing length to their claws. Their feet grew thick and padded to prevent from being frozen on this cold world. Their eyes adapted better to the darkness, so that they would see during the dim seasons. They learned to stand upright, their hands and feet became more pronounced. The second race to join them was a special and strange race of Earth ponies that had wolf like ears and canine like teeth. Welcoming those ponies to their fold, they were taught the same way that the Seraphim had been taught. These ponies already had hands and hooves for feet when the Seraphim found them. Doing a bit of genetic engineering on the earth ponies to better adapt them to the world by adding a bit if the genetic material of another mammal on the planet. They are slowly balancing the Seraphim out though they are careful about over breeding. Ethnic Makeup:Dragons - 62% Earth Pony - 38% Government Type: A Fascist Meritocracy Oligarchy Theocracy. A council comprising at least two hundred upper level representatives meet on the occurrence of one every two months to bring matters that address the whole planet instead of each section divided off. Fifty representatives from the four factions vote on the matters while the heads of each faction govern and bring the matters to the council. The higher representatives are chosen for the skill and merit to forwarding the goals in general and the specific goals to their faction. When a child reaches an age, they are put through a series of tests in order to find where they best stand and give them a faction. Only after they prove themselves then they are given a proper name. The earth ponies haven't yet been a leader of a faction but there are a few scattered in the 200 high ranking representatives. The four factions are: Military, Law & Government, Religious Culture, and Research & Development Current Leaders:First Grand Admiral of the Imperium: Visions of the Pale Moon. He is cunning, ruthless, and always eager to prove his skill in combat. Visions has always been the one to outmaneuver his opponents on the battlefield and in the council. Heavily respected, even by his enemies, he has come to bear the terrible burden of protecting his people at all costs. One of the more approachable of all the leaders simply because he treats all others with fairness and never dismisses them based on what faction. Rather he would love to sit down and have a friendly conversation with you and share a drink. Minster of Law: Affinity of Eventual Justice. A tough dragon to read and a harder one to appease. Standing as the becon of order and justice over much of the people, he desires a never ending quest for power and order but he keeps his plans on the down low. A model of brutal efficiency but lacking sometimes in the tact portion of his job, he can be sometimes very blunt. Divine of the Gods: Eos of Eternal Cycles. The kindest and most benevolent out of all the leaders. She prefers to solve problems among others using her kind voice and diplomatic skills as a guide to the people when it comes to their gods. Always listening and providing comfort to those that seek her out, relieving them of stress or doubt when it arises. She is not one to get angry easily but it happens from time to time. Director of Research: Harmony of Wisdom and Knowledge. A stubborn and prompus dragon who prefers to spend her time among data sheets and figures instead of other people. Sometimes a bit arrogant but rather good at what he does. Solving problems and thinking outside the box when a problem does arise. She would be the one to work herself to death if the other leaders didn't do things. | Okay, so Sharp's given us his permission to run this ourselves, so me and Portal will be taking over threadrunning from here. We are probably gonna change some things in the system and such, but biographies should be largely unaffected by it. We might ask for some additions, but that's probably the jist of it. I would like confirmation that people are still interested in this thread, of course. | |
