PostSubject: Fallout Equestria: Under the Shades   Sun Oct 11, 2015 4:49 am

The day was cloudy and gloom, as normal, and the Wasteland was even more chaotic than normal. More specifically in a small town called Kazba, a couple miles from Hollow Shades. Ponies, and other races, had went there as a little pit stop to resupply and prepared to defend themselves if they got the files the pony on the radio asked for. It was a decent enough town to say the least. There were enough stores and supplies to sustain them and enough ponies passing by to trade with. However, a large group of raiders had stumble across the town and decided it would be great to not pay for anything and just take them.

The raiders themselves had explosives on their side...and they went kablewie a lot. All around the town they threw out grenades and placed down C4, exploding the front doors of buildings and going in to steal all they could. The towns people, taking up arms and fighting against the raiders. But the raiders had numbers for them...numbers and explosives and big booming guns. How they got them, no one will ever know. Maybe they raidered an old war building and found them.

Many towns ponies, the ones who couldn't use a gun yet, were running away and screaming for help, trying to find someone to help their town and home. The little ones in particular were trying to hide where the raiders won't find them. Of course, it is the wasteland meaning ponies always die. Many ponies on both sides were dying, but it was slow going. It was most certain that the towns ponies would be killed off before the raiders because of their explosives.

Memory orbs were a lot like Sparkle-Cola, Sharp noted as her host went about brushing her teeth for the 3,247th time. She idly wondered, between her soft-drink related musings, and enjoying the minty-fresh taste of Ponymart-brand generic toothpaste, why she had continued to keep count all these years...

And around twenty seconds into what could very well be the most thorough session of self-applied dental health care in recorded history, she concluded that somewhere along these six years of repeated viewing, the habit had become instinctive, something she did as an afterthought during these long and intimate sessions she had with her oblivious host. A host she had grown to call Minty-Fresh, or, Minty for short.

With how often Sharp spent within the calm and orderly embrace of the memory orb, it was rather odd how unremarkable the memory recorded within actually was. An average looking  unicorn mare with a light blue coat, an ice-colored mane with a dark blue streak, and a cutie mark of an hourglass had taken the time, two hundred some years ago, to sit down and record several instances of herself brushing her teeth.

That was perhaps what appealed the most to Sharp. That this pony could spend several minutes of her day just sitting in front of her mirror, utterly relaxed without a care in the world simply… taking care of herself. She wished more than anything to be that pony, that worry-less blue mare. Unfortunately, memory orbs were just that. Recorded memories. And, eventually, all recordings come to their end.

Sharp woke from her artificial slumber with a defeated sigh. It took her a few minutes to convince herself to not fall back into the warm embrace of Minty’s morning routine, but she eventually managed to bring herself to roll off of the bed she had rented the previous night. “Mornings… I hate mornings.” she grumbled to herself as she went about her own routine. Saddle bags and medical supplies were checked, caps and ammunition were counted,  utility barding was donned, and two of her three pistols found their place within their respective holsters. The third of the trio, a 10mm loaded with Hollow Point rounds, was tucked neatly between her medical supplies and the spare jumpsuit she kept inside her saddlebag.

She brought a hoof up to eye level and magically fiddled with her pipbuck, tabbing over to the notes section to confirm the time and the place she had agreed to meet her friend and traveling companion, a pegasus by the name of Viola, last night before they had parted for bed; The town square… and in half an hour. Sharp was in the middle of debating how to spend what little time she had when several unmistakable booms of explosive ordnance resounded through the thin walls of the Kazba inn she had spent the night in.

Sharp shrugged off the first explosion as just another pony ignoring Ditzy Doo’s warnings about grenades, but when several similar booms followed the first, she knew it had to be more than just an ignorant wastelander’s bad day. She brandished all three pistols in her white telekinesis, and quickly made her way out of the inn in search of Viola, carefully observing her EFS to avoid any and all hostile markers to the best of her ability.

By comparison, another dull green unicorn was not having such a calm and peaceful morning. Sena hadn't managed to reach the small town before it got too late in the night and she'd been forced to make a temporary camp a little ways outside. Bright and early though she'd been awakened by an explosion that had been far too close for comfort, and even though others hadn't followed at the very early hour, she'd still gotten up and ready for the day. That had been her morning, back when the sun was just starting to peak over the horizon. Now was when most others would consider morning, and Sena was just drawing up to where she could see the town when something new caught her eye. It was a strange looking little metal disk with a blinking red light.

Curious as she was, Sena crept closer to the thing trying to get a better look at it when the device started beeping angrily. Since she wasn't expecting the sudden noise, Sena jumped back only for the beeping to stop. Now this was very interesting to the unicorn, interesting enough that once again she started to creep up towards the device until the beeping started again. When it started to beep a little faster and more loudly, Sena backed off again. It was just the strangest thing she'd seen in a little while and it was driving her curiosity up a wall. After the beeping stopped that second time, Sena tried creeping up towards it a third time, and this time when the beeping started, she didn't back off. Instead she got a little closer... and a little closer... and then "BOOOM!" The beeping had suddenly been replaced by a loud explosion that sent the little unicorn tumbling back across the rough terrain until she came to a stop a short distance away, coat blackened, and she herself groaning a little in pain. "Ooowwww," Sena complained while she laid there for a little longer. While picking herself back up, Sena slowly pulled out some scrap metal from her own saddlebags and bit down on a twisted and warped piece of metal, the piece slowly seeming to dissolve until she was able to swallow it. As she munched on a few more pieces, Sena began testing her hooves to make sure nothing was still broken, and then proceeded onward some more.

When Sena encountered another one of the little metal exploding disks, her curiosity was still running at an all time high, but she was considerably more cautious this time. She stayed away from it for at least a whole five minutes examining the object before noting that the top part that blinked red also looked like it could be pressed like a button. That was all the examination she needed before practically jumping at the little disk and then scrambling to make sure that the blinking red button was pressed down when she accidentally overshot the device. Much to her relief, the beeping stopped and wasn't replaced with a loud explosion this time. Now that it wasn't going to blow up on her, or at least Sena hoped it wouldn't, she began to examine the explosive. Looking it over, examining the markings if any, giving the thing a good, long, lick to see how it tasted, and then very carefully sliding the device onto her back, in a way that the button, that she was now somewhat sure activated the thing, wouldn't get pressed.

As she continued on her way to the town, she noted that even more of those devices kept popping up, though she didn't bother getting too close to these ones as they were difficult enough to stop and she already had the one, no need to risk it going off by setting off one of the other ones that were all around. That mentality worked well enough until suddenly a series of very angry beeps started up to her right and acting out of reflex rather than common sense, Sena just took off away from the sound, only to hear a new set of beeping on her other side that prompted her to just start running to the town. As the explosions started up behind her, Sena continued to run towards the town with a horrified and panicked expression on her face.

Up in the air, above the town, a cloud lazily floated by lower than usual. A pegasus pony laid on the cloud, chilling on her back and reading a book about arcane sciences. She was reading a part about memory orbs. Mainly how they worked. “Damn… I’d love to be able to use one of these, but I’m not a unicorn… Maybe one day I’ll find a way…”

She preferred the comfort of clouds to sleep on instead of regular beds, and always had a habit of disappearing at the most random of times, only to pop back into existence an hour later, usually with a bottle of Sparkle Cola. She also had a body full of cybernetic implants, including one of her eyes. That one in particular really helped with combat, or even just seeing in the dark.

Of course, the sound of explosions below startled her and made her nearly fall off the cloud. Putting her book away, she looked down at the chaos the raiders were causing. “What the hell…” She pulled out a gun from under her cloak, a gauss pistol, and aimed it down at the town. From her position, she had a good vantage point to shoot any raiders. Her gauss pistol also had no tracer, so it was a better stealth weapon than her plasma pistol, at least not counting the noise the gauss pistol made or how it glowed softly. Though, if she was spotted, she’d have to beat a very quick retreat. She decided it was worth the chance, and fired at anypony that looked like a raider.

Sacred Chime was having such a good day. All he needed was 4,000 more caps, and he would be able to afford that vacant building in town and the supplies to turn it into a clinic for him to practice medicine. He had already gotten up this morning, gotten his surgeon fatigues on along with his helmet, slung his 'Mercy Killer' over his back and got his backpack on. He turned on his pip-buck based radio, hearing one of his favorite songs come on.
"To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day..."
Sacred stepped outside, and saw the vacant building explode. He saw the raiders running around, and drew Mercy Killer from his back, his hoof sliding right into the fitting on the pump as he racked the shotgun, chambering the first round. "I guess it's time to practice some medicine..." He took low flight, preparing to stay above any mines as he made his way out to the streets. Today was just not his day, and he was ready to bust some skulls, firing a shot at any raider who decided to get within his range.

Calmly striding through the Wastes was Ryumania. With the words that DJ-Pon3 spoke, warning about the data the mysterious pony wanted, she was hoping to get some of her equinity back in denying him whatever evil plans he had.

She was listening to foregin music on the Pipbuck located on her right foreleg while making her way to a last pitstop in Kazba toe get a few supplies that would allow her to make it to her destination. Her scythe Nirvana was resting on her back held in place by straps attached to her cloak.

After a while she was able to spot the town from a distance but the thick black smoke clouds told her that there was something wrong. She unhinged the scythe and started galloping towards Kazba.

Wild Card awoke in his room in the inn to the sounds of... gunfire and explosions. He gave a small sigh, slightly relieved that it was this noise and not the noises of the irradiated animal monstrosities that roamed around. 'Other ponies can't smell you out... should be easy to just up and leave... but then again, kinda curious as to how this will play out.' The pegasus stallion thought to himself, getting out of bed and then putting on his armour and helmet. After which he fitted two hoof-fitted pistol holders onto his armour and subsequently put his guns into place, a task that left a horrible taste of metal in his mouth, but eventually he was properly prepared and his helmet's visor and mouth-guard slid close to cover his face.

Only... half of the mouth guard could only try to do that, causing Wild to groan in annoyance while a large amount of chaining explosions could be heard further out from town. But the stallion had come about this issue before so he knew how to deal with such a technical fault in an otherwise very helpful suit, so after a few... not-so-delicate knocks with his hoof, the rest of the helmet followed suit and covered his face completely this time. Grinning to himself and guns fully loaded, Wild Card grabbed the rest of his items and made for the back exit of the inn, sliding outside carefully and low to the ground before flying up to the roof top and getting a good spectator view of everything that was happening.

After having done that and getting to a nicely hidden place on the roof- that gave a good view of the town if Wild sat up right - the pegasus activated his EFS which had been set up to show up on the inside of his visor. He smiled as the compass appeared, along with an array of markers indicating what the PipBuck thought of as friend and foe, with foe after foe disappearing due to the added help the townsponies were getting. "Seems like they've got things under control, no need for us to intervene." "Shame 'bout the buildings though, but they're paying for it with their lives." "Quite, and it is rather peace-" An explosion cut Wild off, and he lightly chuckled afterwards. "Well, more peaceful up here. Which allows for radio time. Now... who gets to choose the station this time?" "Think it's Ace." With that decided and the stallion happily keeping slightly alert for any raiders looking his way - only slightly due to the old saying of "Wastelanders never look up" - Wild quietly sang to himself along with the music. "Hardly spoke to folks around him, never had too much to say~♪"

Unfortunately for Sharp, on her way out of the inn while rounding a corner, she would nearly bump into a dirty purple unicorn with a red and orange messed up mane, levitating a 10mm smg in her magic. Luckily for her, the unicorn seemed detracted by someone else. "Come here pony! I want to rip off your flesh and cook it!" She shouted, starting to creep towards a closed door on the left side of the hallway. On her EFS, Sharp could see two yellow tick markers in the room the raider was creeping towards.

On his way out of the back of the inn, Wild ran straight int a fire fight between the inn keeper and a raider with a grenade launcher. "You damn raiders!" The inn keeper, a dark blue earth pony with a blueish green mane barked before showering the raider in a rain of bullets. The inn keeper spotted Wild for a moment, giving him a look to somewhat asked him to help, before running off to help the rest of his town. Besides that Wild didn't have much difficulty getting to the roof of a building. Since he wasn't firing at any raiders, he didn't really need to worry about anypony looking is way. In fact he'd be safe for the time being...That was until a raider started yelling chicken rather loudly.

Said raider who was yelling chicken had been a red earth pony with a silver mane. The raider had been shot by Viola straight in his back. Of course he wasn't dead yet but he got the clue that something shot him. He looked around for a moment then up at the cloud, seeing a head poking out of the edge. Which lead to the chicken shouting. "CHICKEN! CHICKEN CHICKEN!"  He started running around in circles before one of the towns ponies shot him dead. Of course it was too late as some raiders started looking up and spotting the cloud Viola was on, starting to fire up.

Outside the town, some raiders and towns ponies stopped what they were doing and looked in the direction of the explosions, seeing Sena running straight towards the town. Many raiders took aim and started firing at the mare, others going back to their gun fighting and explosions. One raider with a rocket launcher fired at Sena, missing her but exploding a little bit in front of her, throwing up dirt and dust. More explosions rang out around her as others with grenades and dynamite threw them at her.

Sacred's flying around the town, caught many raiders' attention. The ones who weren't locked in a fire fight with towns ponies were doing everything to take down the "bat chicken" as they put it. The ones with grenade launchers and rocket launchers fired at the thestral, most missing but some flying straight at him. Others with regular old guns and not explosives loaded in a fresh new clip and fired everything they had at him.

And once more outside Kazba, Ryumania would find herself in a similar situation that Sena was, mines getting set off and exploding all around her. But since Sena was the closest to the town, most raiders payed attention to her and not the hooded pony equally running through their mine field. Though, that didn't stop one raider from firing at her with a hunting rifle and damn was he good at firing it, many shots coming close to if not actually hitting her.

As one of the bullets strafed her cheek she pushed herself off the ground with a good strong buck of her hind hoofs leaving a deep hoofprint and propelling her into the air. At that point she slipped into stealthbuck and spread her wings trying to get in closer to the raider firing at her.

She thought to herself: "Why do they keep doing this. Torturing and killing other ponies for fun. Disgusting!" She got furious at them over the years, not even recognising any of their kind as ponies anymore but more as mindless klling machines.

With magic she opened the straps holding her scythe in place and quickly hovered it towards her fronthoofs getting ready to strike once she was in range.

“What’s horny, purple, and has a hole in it?” Sharp called out to the raider mare, before toggling SATS queuing up a shot from one of her 10mm pistols, and activating the spell. At this range, missing was incredibly unlikely, but, should it happen, Sharp would follow up with a few shots from her MEW. “Your face~” She finished, quite proud of herself.

She trotted past the door at first, before glancing back and sighing. “Fine. I’ll commit. Stupid sexy DJ.” she grumbled to herself, before trotting up to the door and knocking. “Colonel Sanders over there has gone into early retirement.” She said, pointing towards the dead raider mare. “You’re safe...ish. Might want to get the hell out of Dodge, though.” she told the two within, raising her voice over the cacophony outside the inn.

As an afterthought, Sharp reached out to the Raider's SMG with her magic. She pulled out its magazine and gave a quick glance inside for the ammunition count. Afterwards, she turned the weapon's safety on, and placed it inside of her saddlebags.

The pegasus, as soon as the raiders started firing upon her, took off higher into the air. She reloaded her pistol and flew around to the edge of town, where a few mines still sat. Getting an idea, She disarmed three mines and picked them up. She looked around town, using the gauss pistol to take the heads off of any raiders that dared to look at her funny. She flew back over the down and armed one of the mines, dropping it on the most clustered group of raiders she could find. Then she flew onto a rooftop to take cover from any incoming fire while she reloads her pistol again.

Sena was running, and panicking, but mostly running. First it'd been one explosion, then that one had been followed by two, and then three. Now suddenly there was like 40 and it was all Sena could do to just keep running as she was. If there was ever a time to be thankful for those almost goofy looking glasses she'd gotten from one of the late scientist, she'd have had a much harder time when the rocket had exploded in front of her. Luckily, they protected her eyes at least a little and now she was finally reaching the town.

Much to her dismay however, there was apparently more explosions going on in the town. "WHY ARE THERE SO MANY EXPLOSIONS AROUND HERE!" Sena cried as she continued to run almost blindly, trying desperately to find someplace that currently wasn't exploding to hide and collect her bearings.

Sacred briefly stopped to blast the head off of a nearby grenade-launcher toting raider, and then continued zipping around the town. Hopefully, his speed would throw off their aim and cause them to kill each other. Eventually, he would fly up high, high enough for clouds to obscure him as he put away 'Mercy Killer', put his 10mm pistol in his mouth and tucking his shovel under his foreleg, then dove down, avoiding gun and rocket fire and slamming the head of the shovel into the first raider who wasn't facing towards him.

The raider that had been attacking Ryu blinked as she kicked up into the air and disappeared. He scanned the mine field for a moment, not seeing anything explode. He stepped back for a moment, a look of confusion clear on his face. That was until a turquoise earth pony mare with an indigo mane came up behind him and fired a shotgun right to the back of his head. The mare paused and looked out into the minefield. "Stay away from the town, alicorn!" She shouted out before running back into the rest of the fight.

The purple unicorn inside the inn paused as she heard Sharp talking behind her. She turned around in confusion, just about ready to fire. That was when Sharp released SATS and planted a bullet square in her face. She didn't even need to fire the MEW shots but they helped make her poor face even bloodier. Inside the room, shuffling could be heard before the door opened, revealing the barrel of a sniper rifle being floated in a light green glow. A violet unicorn stallion stared at sharp for a moment before lowering the sniper rifle. "Apologize." He said simply for a moment before spotting the dead raider. "...Well that's going to be a mess to clean up...Mmm. Thank you." He bowed his head as a little light green filly peeked out from between his legs. "But um...we can't leave. It's out home. Our town. Take this for helping me and my filly though." He floated over a small bag of caps with some bullets and medical items in it. He then walked off to a window in the room as the filly waved the nice mare good bye and closed the door. The last thing she could see was the filly grabbing a grenade.

As Viola flew away, many of the raiders' focus was turned back to the towns ponies, who had taken the moment of distraction to take out a good number of them. One raider chose to look at her funny and was rewarded with a 2mm EC round to the face. They collapsed, dead from the shot. When the pegasus dropped a mine on the most crowded group of raiders, and possibly towns ponies, the mine hit a unicorn on the head, bouncing off for a moment before exploding. The explosion took out the unicorn and a few other ponies, who could or couldn't have been raiders.

As Sena cleared the minefield and proceed to run through the town, past the gunfire and exploding falling mines, she would be swept up in someone's hooves as they ran straight past her. The pony didn't stop till they got into a bar and behind the bar's counter. The pony then proceeded to put Sena down, looking sternly at her. The pony was an earth pony, a light blue stallion with an azure mane to be more exact. "What are ya doin' runnin' through town fer? Yer gonna get yerself shot!" He said, glancing back at the entrance to the bar once in a while.

Sacred would find that the only clouds to be seen were the clouds from the cloud cover. The one that separated the Enclave from the wasteland. It was also the one with lightning that would strike out at anyone who got too close. And while he was flying up, some of the raiders gave up on trying to hit the bat chicken, going back to just blowing the town up. The raider who he was about to smack with his shovel sadly had a sniper shot to the head before he got the hit in. But his friend was close by and was easy pray...that was unless they didn't get a shot out before then.

While all of this was happening, in the middle of town the ground exploded upwards in a shower of dirt, rocks, and dust. The raiders who had been there were now being ripped apart by something. The dust was making whatever it was hard to see. When the dust clear however, it revealed a hellhound standing there, the blood of raiders on its claws as it gazed around. It let out a deep growl and started tearing through the raiders, and and injuring some unfortunate towns ponies who hadn't gotten away in time. The odd thing however, none of the towns ponies were actually firing at it.

It was hardly surprising that the raider went down from just the one 10mm round, and, after checking her pipbuck’s EFS twice to make sure she was dead, Sharp looted the mare. She then turned her attention to the ponies she had helped. She simply shrugged at the stallion’s reasons for staying. It was, afterall, his funeral. Shame about the filly though. But that was the wasteland for you. Always shitting on your Sugar Apple Bombs.

Sharp took her reward into yet another magical aura and wished the young pony and her guardian good luck as they shut the door. She took a moment to peruse the small bag’s contents, wondering if the good fight would prove to be as financially profitable as it was conscientiously. Her sentiments were as follows:

A hoofful of 10mm rounds. “You could always use more ammo.”
A roll of gauze. “Meh. I’d rather have some than not.”
Just under twenty caps. “More money is good money.”

She placed each item in their respective places within her saddlebag, feeling all-in-all fairly content with herself. She then continued her way out of the inn, once again paying close attention to her EFS in order to navigate Kazba via the path of least resistance. “Just gotta make it to the town square. Viola will probably be there.” She assured herself.

Sharp would shoot first, and ask questions probably never. Anything that looked even remotely raider-like would get SATS assisted 10mm rounds to the highest likely-to-hit target.

Sena was still in panic mode when the mystery stallion swept her up and carried her away. Even after she was deposited on the ground on her side, her hooves were still moving in the galloping motion in the air, causing her to slowly spin on the ground. A moment later though, Sena blinked and tiny fear stricken pupils regained their normal size and started to look around as the stallion addressed her. When the foreign voice reached her ears, Sena spun around and nearly tackled the pony to the ground with a glomping hug. "Oh thank you, thank you, thank you. I thought those explosions were going to catch up to me any second!" Sena exclaimed as she squeezed the stallion almost as hard as she could before releasing him. "Oh, you asked me a question! Well you see there was this- Wait a second. I don't know your name! What if you're some kind of raider trying to trick me and get me to spill the beans! I know better! I'm not as dumb as I was a week ago, and I learn fast!" Sena exclaimed as she started backing up kind of awkardly since about halfway through what she was saying, she'd stood up on her hind legs.

She continued to back up, holding her fore-hooves out towards the pony until she hit the bar and ungracefully flipped over it, landing on her upper back. "Owww, okay, maybe I was being a little paranoid there," Sena admitted while slowly twisting about to where she was standing again. One fore-hoof went to rub the now sore spot on her back as she looked towards the stallion apologetically. "I'm sorry, I was just a little panic stricken by all the bombs. I came to this town because it's the last stop before the vault. The one that was advertised on the radio? You know about it right?"

Sharp would receive little to no problems as she made her way through the inn to get to the entrance. As soon as she stepped outside however, she would come face to face with a rather bloody scene. The hellhound that had come up in the middle of town a little bit ago was now holding two dead raiders in it's claws and was using them to smack around other raiders. A few seconds of smacking ponies with dead ponies later, it retreaded into the ground. Some of the raiders who hadn't gotten smacked tried to run away from where the hellhound dug down, making them kind of easy targets for Sharp. She had yet to be seen as well.

The light blue stallion grunted as he was glomped by Sena, taking a step back but not falling down. The stallion just stared at the mare, shaking his head and looking at the door of the bar. "Do ah look like a raider t' ya?" He said simply, digging around in a box for a moment before taking out a pulse mine and trotting to the entrance. He then armed it and placed it down in front of the door. "So yer after dah vault in Hollow Shades? Careful then. Ah don't know whats in dat forest, but ah heard stories o' monsters in their. Dem killin' all who enter." He shrugged a little. "Ya ain't hurt now are ya? If ya are, there's a health potion somewhere in dat box."

Outside, Sacred was getting shot a whole bunch, not as much as when he first flew out since a lot of raiders had been shot thanks to his "distraction". But he was still shot and most likely bleeding through bullet holes. On the roofs, Viola would be relatively safe for the moment, some raiders taking potshots at her, but missing. As for Wild, a random rocker woshed right past his hiding place and exploded a few meters behind him. It didn't seem like anyone meant to shoot it, it was simply just a rocket that missed it's mark on someone. And for Ryu, there was a nice lone raider who decided to get away from the firefight and try and raider some houses on the outskirts of the town that no one was really paying attention to.

"I said I was sorry sir, but I didn't really know what a raider looked like until just a few moments ago," Sena replied remorsefully as she lightly kicked the floor with her forehooves and looked down pitifully. Though when he pulled out the pulse mine, her eyes immediately went to it and she watched him with careful studying eyes that not only took in details about how he set the trap-like explosive, but also several details about the explosive itself, figuring out a few of the details about it in a few moments, but in truth she wanted to actually pick the thing up and practically tear it apart to fully understand it. She however had already learned the lesson about set mines, just a few moments ago even, and wisely left the thing alone.

"Well, I am a little hurt, but mostly just hungry," Sena said with a look at her slightly scorched side from the earlier explosion, but it seemed to be getting better still. That was something of a curiosity for her, she'd always healed fast, abnormally so and she was always so hungry when it was going on, but she was never sure why. "I'd still appreciate the potion though if there really are monsters hiding out in those woods," Sena went on as she started looking around the place. "Actually anything you think I could use, and some of the stuff you probably think is useless, I could probably use. I'm willing to do some... batting? Butler? Bur... bar... bart? Barter? BARTERING! Yeah, I can do a little bartering if you can't afford to be too charitable. You were even already nice enough to save me, so I would feel bad if you kept just giving me things," she said just before a growl from her stomach made the mare sheepishly grin in embarrassment as her cheeks blushed a little. "Though maybe I could get something to eat first? I am really hungry."

After six years of wandering the wasteland, Sharp had come to terms with the fact pretty much anything with even a remotely negative connotation can, and, typically did, happen. A hellhound beating raiders to death with the limp bodies of other raiders, however, was not something she had expected to see. Ever.

“Celestia's solar-flaring mareheat...” Sharp mumbled to herself, equally amused as she was terrified. The raiders were literally being beaten to death with their friends’ corpses. It was comical--- in a terrible, wasteland-y sort of way. Part of her was slightly sickened by how she found amusement in that; perhaps the wasteland was finally getting to her.

She shook the thought out of her head. “No… I’m a good pony.” She assured herself.  As if to prove herself right, she emptied both 10mms into the two vulnerable raiders who were attempting to flee the scene. “.... I’m a good pony.” She repeated.

“Yeah, a good pony who just shot three ponies to death in just as many minutes.” A dark voice in the back of her head reminded her. Sharp broke into a full gallop away from the hellhound. Yes, she was running away from the monster, but… the hellhound wasn’t the only thing she was running away from.

She needed to get somewhere safe. She needed her memory orb. She really needed her memory orb.  At this point, she wasn’t even trying to get to the town square anymore. Viola’s destination was the same as hers, they were bound to run into one another eventually… and She couldn’t take another minute in Kazba’s battlefield. Sharp headed for the exit closest to the direction of her destination, the vault spoken of in the radio.

Ignoring the warning from the turquoise pony she flew into town just seeing a hellhound vanish back into the earth after killing two raiders. Deeming the hellhound a higher threat than a raider she looked out for a spot where she could easiely attack it from.

A few seconds later she landed on a roof having a good view of the hole the hellhound vanished back into a few seconds ago and the surrounding area. She right away went into a position from where she could easiely pounce. She then waited for the hellhound to come up again.

Viola was done with these raiders. Like, done times thirty. This wasn't her fight, so why should she risk her butt over it? Sure, raiders were scum, but she didn't was to die to them. That would just be insulting. So instead of fighting further and wasting ammo, she took off and left towards where she was really supposed to go.

Wild Card was quite enjoying watching the resulting carnage and madness going on in the town due to the raiders, and the introduction of a hellhound merely made it much more enjoyable to watch. Raiders scattered about, some quite literally, and heroic ponies taking them out while a helhound had a glorious time tearing some raiders to shreds, yeah, this was a scene that reminded Wild of what the wasteland was all about. Complete fucking lunacy wrapped up in a bag of violence and bloodshed.

It warmed his heart, or at least some of him thought that way. Other, more sane minds didn't quite like the chaos. Then Wild woke up from his little daydream due to a rocket whizzing past him and exploding not far behind, luckily far enough away from him that he wasn't hurt by it, but he was a bit shaken. "Okay, taking that as our cue to leave." "Rightly so." "Well... the hellhound's gone anyway. That's my enjoyment gone." He said to himself, before walking to the back of the inn's roof and flying towards his destination, the Vault in Hollow Shades.

The stallion looked at Sena for a moment, shrugging at her. Outside the sounds of gunfire slowed, only a few being heard now. It seemed the fighting was nearing an end. "Hmm. Well dah fightin' is nearly done. If yer askin' fer barterin', ya should ask Rivercreek about it when he pops up." He raised a hoof over to a hatch in the corner of the room. "He works down there. And since the fightin' seems to be close to an end, so he should be around soon enough."

As if on cue, the hatch was opened and a hellhound head popped up. "I need a few health potions. Raiders did a number on me." It said, looking at the light blue stallion and completely ignoring Sena for a moment. When the stallion floated a couple potions to it, it quickly chugged them down and sighed. "Alright then...what's with the mare?" It finally said, looking at Sena.

Outside, Ryu would see the hellhound pop up again, but she would see the last few raiders getting killed off. All round the town was blown up buildings, dead bodies from both raiders and townsponies, and scattered weapons and injured ponies. Some ponies were already starting to drag the dead bodies elsewhere.

As Sharp, Viola, and Wild headed out of town and towards Hollow Shades, it would take them a fair while to even get to the area. They wouldn't run into any trouble at all while they ran/flew. Granted Sharp was running so she got their before the other two who were flying. Once they did get the edge of the forest, they would see that it was lined with very dead and twisted trees, some just stumps. There was one of two axes left behind from who knows where. Into the forest a little ways were more green trees, ones that weren't dead or looked deformed. The tops of the trees fasting away any light and shrouding the forest in darkness.

Sharp, being the first to arrive to the forest, would see nothing yet on her E.F.S. Should she continue without fail or any hesitation, a few more minutes in she'd see one lone tick mark marked as friend to her far left. The forest was dead quiet, not a single animal making a sound...That was if there were any animals at all. Should Wild and Viola catch up with Sharp or get close enough to be in her same position, they'd also see the tick mark in whatever color their E.F.S was.

Sena just nodded to what the stallion said and then turned towards the new arrival with reborn curiosity. She'd never seen a hellhound before and so she was rather interested in the new arrival and if what the stallion had said held true, this was also the one who she could do that bartering thing with. Then the hellhound spoke, causing both her ears to swivel towards him as she listened and watched on curiously until the apparent he addressed her. "Oh well um... I was on my way to that vault around Hollow Shades, the one on the radio add. But then I found this neat little exploding disk," Sena said with a pause to levitate the one recovered mine out before the hellhound. "But then a lot of them started exploding around me, and all these other ponies started shooting, and then that guy dragged me here," she finished with a point towards the stallion.

"Anyways, I was wondering if I could do a little bartering since I don't want to just ask for the stuff for free," Sena added as she thought for a moment to recall all she had on her to trade with. "I could possibly use a few things and I've got this to trade for them," she said once more lifting the mine up. "What could I get for this?"

Sharp’s impromptu jog had given her plenty of time to think. She wondered how many ponies she had killed in her six years of wandering. It upset her how she could remember the exact number of times she had gone into Minty Fresh’s memory orb---3,247, but had no idea who many lives she had ended. Six years ago, she had never even thought about killing someone. Hell, six years ago she had never even seen a gun. Compared to the mare that had left Stable 13 all those years ago… She was a monster.

But, of course, everypony was a monster in the Celestia-forsaken wasteland. They had to be. Monsters survived. Ponies… good ponies, they either died good or lived long enough to become monsters themselves. Sharp stopped running and leaned on a nearby tree, face against her hoof, and laughed. “Oh… Oh Celestia. I’m a monster. Hah…”

She sat there for a few moments, laughing and crying.. In all honesty, after all was said and done… she felt a lot better about it all. Ponies were monsters, and she was no different. She was normal.

Sharp composed herself. She reloaded her pistols, tossed the spent magazines into her bag for later refilling, and continued deeper into the forest--- this time with a much more relaxed pace. She increased the brightness of her pipbuck screen to combat her ever-darkening surroundings. Sure, this painted her as a big, green, glowing target in the middle of a dark forest… but she didn’t really care at this point. What did it matter if she got attacked anyways? Monsters deserved to die.

She noticed the green EFS marker almost immediately after it was detected. After years of relying on that particular feature of the arcanotech device strapped to her left forehoof, it was difficult to miss something like that. Green meant friendly, so, she simply trotted up to whatever it was. Sure, it could’ve been a false positive, and sure, it was a stupid risk… but right now, Sharp honestly couldn’t care less.
