PostSubject: What was lost (Horror, gore, violence, probably some others too)   Fri Apr 17, 2015 2:56 pm

On a roof overlooking a mist covered street, an young mare lays on her side in what is likely her final moments. The mask that should have been covering her face lies a couple feet away, battered, and missing a lense. Her labored breathing is but of many present testimates to the approach of her end as she lays there in this forsaken city. With bleary tear sticken and unfocused eyes, she looks up towards you in silent lost hope. "I... I remember.... before all of this... when Canterlot... was a city of wonder... the art... the inventions... the magical advances... it was all so much so fast..." A bloody cough interrupts the mare's speech, wracking her whole body with the violent outbursts that harsh contrast with her soft and quiet words.

"And then... none of it mattered... the gas... I didn't know... no one did, no one could have," she started but was interrupted by another harsh cough, accented by thin rivulets of blood joining her tears as both streamed from her eyes. "That... that horrible gas... all the horrors... the deaths... the monster they became... I... I don't have much... time left... Please... find a way... find a way out of he-," another coughing fit that left the mare trembling as if freezing. "And please... deliver this message... to... them..." the mare struggled to weakly drag a purple wing towards her saddlebags. You undo the latch for her, so that her feathers might softly fall upon a single old scroll of slightly yellowed paper. "I-... I'm sorry... I just wish... I could have seen... them all... one.... last...... time......." And with that final tear stricken word, the purple mare's breath left her and did not return, her already weak form losing the last vestiges of strength and going completely limp. As if fate herself took pity on her, she showed none of the signs to turning into one of the monstrous beasts that prowled the streets below and by this point, would not become one no matter how much of the gas she was exposed to. Seizing the dying mare's last wish in your hoof, only one feature stands out against the crinkled paper, and that would be the wax seal. A rough circle of multi-hued purple with the crest of princess Twilight.

It is thanks to her sacrifice that you all are still alive, for it was she that did the impossible just moments before. Using an unbelievable feat of magic despite the effects of the gas to get herself and the lot of you to this roof and away from the nightmares below, even though doing so resulted her in protection from the source of these nightmares being shredded away by the sheer force of the magic wielded. Now, turning towards the gas discolored city, a silent question ring out. What will you do with the princess's sacrifice and dying wish.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alright, so for a little extra info here. As any of you who read this might have guessed, Canterlot has been metaphorically buried under a cloud of toxic gas. The gas is an airborne disease than upon even a minor infection proves fatal over varying amounts of time. The longest a pony has survived after the most minor infection has been four days. Infection has been noted to be possible through most openings in the body. Eyes, nose, ears, mouth, and any open wound exposed to the gas is a guaranteed infection. The disease is visibly recognizable by a sickly yellow green discoloration in the air. Very minor contamination is nearly invisible, while thick air contamination can take the appearance of a thick mist of the same color.

The diseased gas itself is also very heavy, leaving it only airborne near the ground and as such there are measures that were taken to halt it's advance. Primarily, a massive stone wall was constructed around the entire city, trapping the disease, and unfortunately any who weren't lucky enough to have already escaped, inside. Then a magic barrier was errected as an interoir layer to the wall, to prevent any possible infected from leaving the quarantine zone either via flight or teleportation. You may be asking why bother with the stone wall at all... well, I thought of that too, and it is because the diseased gas also drains away magic, making spell casting while in the gas all but impossible.

Lastly, the gas also has a CHANCE that when it kills someone, it can mutate that body into a monster. These aren't your typical zombies, they're something much worse and scary. There's roughly 3 classifications of them. There's the husks that appear to just be one corpse, mutated into a still roughly pony sized monstrosity. The golems that appear to be a combination of several corpses into a single, larger entity. And lastly, the lurkers which retain a mostly pony like form and supposedly some intelligence, but whether that is true or not is unknown.

I might as well join too. Verde Tin is the only character I have who'll work here.

Awesome, well make sure you read the part under the intro as it contains things that are very present and relevant factors to this game. Also, since Dust appears to be a healer, I'm assuming Dust will have tried to heal an infected during their time inside the quarantine, and they'll realize it doesn't work. The infection eats magic and so even if an infected is in an air tight environment where the gas isn't preventing spell casting, the infection will feed off the spell and possibly just go that much faster. That all said, if you're not in the gas and healing a normal wound that isn't infected, everything should go smoothly

That aside though, feel free to join the game now. The group's in a safe-zone, just have your character go to the same one while seeking shelter for the night and all should be good. If that doesn't work for ya, PM me here, or on skype, and we'll hash out more details.
