Ashen smiled and nodded. Without a weapon or any armour, he could now take a more relaxed posture. It was more in his head than the thin plates making up the armor actually being restrictive to kept him a little taller when he wore them. "That’s a promise. And thank you." The maid seemed pleased with his response,  which was good. She might be a little disappointed later on as he wasn't in the business of embellishing stories, but if he left out the mysterious pony’s appearance that would make for an extra heroic kill or two.  Telling the story without stumbling over himself would be the hardest part. The meal and the bed on offer were likely better than what he would have been getting otherwise. His weight shifted from one side of his body to the other anxiously as what Divine said went through his mind again. She couldn’t come back soon enough. He was still knight though, so he would move towards Diamond in order to talk about knightley stuff while he waited to be guided to somewhere, not wanting to go by himself. “I...know you said you weren’t much of a soldier, but I think you fooled me. I’m normally pretty good at underselling things.”

The colt groaned internally as he realized how much of a butt he was being. "Yeah." He said while giving the maid his swords by using his magic once again. He looked at the ground for a few seconds and wished he could go back to shut his mouth. "Sorry, for being rude." He muttered, hoping that she would accept his apology. He didn't put on the puppy dog face in order to get sympathy or at least didn't try to. He focused his gaze onto the ground and kept a serious face.

Diamond smiled. "Thank you for doing this. This has been one hell of a day..." He went over to the dining hall. He sat down at his seat next to Divine's and took out a book for his studies. He stretched and worked out the cricks in his back and neck. He set his steel sword aside, relaxed, and began reading while he waited.

Faerie looks bemusedly at the maid, before she realizes she's serious. Upon this realization, she attempts to shuffle back, but her injury leaves her going nowhere. "I- You can't be serious! I-It would be improper.." She mumbles this last bit, realizing the mare might take offense. "I-I mean surely you don't need to carry me..." Her face scrunches up, as she wrestles with the idea of being carried vs walking on her injury. During this time, she is unaware of he maid, and would not notice her moving immediately.

The maid caught Zen's glare, but she said nothing before trotting off with his extra gear, heading for his room. The head maid gave no sign that she had heard Zen's whisper, her ear not even twitching as she began to trot off to organise the meal. "Once Black Rose has returned, she will escort you to the Dining Hall. I hope you all have an excellent stay at the castle this evening."

The maid facing Ashen blinked in surprise before nodding. "As you wish Ma'am," she said, hurrying off with his gear, though she did flash a quick smile in his direction as she scurried off. She was clearly excited to hear Ashen's story, and his armour clanked loudly as she ran. The head maid shook her head softly as Rose ran past her, but she said nothing as she continued on her journey to the kitchen.

The maid snorted and shook her head at Faerie, before nodding. "I am quite serious thank you very much. Improper my... Ahem, anyway, it would hardly be improper." As soon as her snout scrunched up, the maid took it as a sign of defeat and slipped under her, lifting her up onto her back and trotting off. The trip to the infirmary was a short one, but for Faerie was probably quite embarrassing. Once there, the maid placed her on a bed and began to sort through various closets.

Blade's maid took his swords and shook her head calmly. "Not at all Young Master. It was my own rudeness that started the whole affair." She would not attempt to lift his chin in fear of angering him again, and instead hurried off with his swords. Her hoofsteps were quiet, and the sound of the front door being opened covered them.

Divine strode in, the wounded mare upon her back. She snorted, and a pair of maids who had been hiding in the shadows stepped out, taking the mare gently and trotted off. Divine's ears twitched and she moved to the group. "Is everyone alright? Where's Diamond?" She asked, as Diamond had already headed to the Dining Hall by this stage.

Black Rose returned, now without Ashen's gear. "Ah, Misstress Divine. Welcome back to the Castle. Shall I escort everyone to the Dining Hall?" She asked gently, bowing. Divine nodded, and Rose smiled, before leading everyone there to the Dining Hall.

Ashen saw that the maid seemed rather motivated to hurry off with his gear. Black Rose was a nice name, and it honestly did not not make his mind jump to the idea of thorns like it might with another pony. He wasn’t exactly enamoured, but he found her friendly. She was not just a maid, she was a shepherd guiding this weary warrior to food and shelter. Ashen didn’t operate on such a poetic level however, so his best description was a soft, “She’s nice,” to himself. Ashen heard movement from behind him and  found his head turning one way to greet Divine in one moment, his eyes passing over the mare she had stayed behind with, before turning back to the maid in the next. He smiled a little as he followed. He could have asked Divine some questions as to what she had found out, but that could wait until morning as far as he was concerned, or whenever she saw it fit to tell, if she did at all.

Zen paused in his hovering about when the Divine entered. Though his gaze was more locked on the mage as she was taken away. However he did glance back once Divine started talking and he found himself listening quietly as the nobility talked. When the talk of food came up and the prospect of following the head maid to the dining room, Zen happily hovered back over so he wouldn't get lost in the foreign building.

Faerie jolts in suprise as the maid picks her up. "Ack! W-What are you- Oh..." A light blush tinges her cheeks. The maid would notice Faerie is far lighter than a mare of her build should be. Once they arrive at the infirmary, Faerie takes a few deep breathes as her blush slowly dies down. She watches the maid with interest. "You are trained in medicine?"

Blade wanted to object that he was more rude, but kept his mouth shut instead. The colt watched as the maid leave, feeling dumb for what he had done. Ponies there were so nice to him. He noticed Divine coming into the room and suddenly felt uneasy. Not because of Divine herself, but for the two maids that had appeared out of no where, creeping out the colt a bit. He didn't try to ease drop on their conversation, but heard that she was looking for somepony named Diamond. He noticed the others heading into the dinning area and since Divine might join them, he decided to simply follow the group.

Black Rose opened a set of doors, revealing a long table with seats evenly spaced around it. At the head of the table was a high-backed chair that could almost be called a throne. Diamond was sitting there and as Divine entered, her ear twitched and she sat down next to him, surprisingly not on the throne though. Black Rose guided the rest of the group to their seats, all close to Divine. Pulling out Ashen's chair, she giggled and gestured for him to sit down, before moving to face the whole group and bowing. "Thank you all for coming, your food will be here shortly."

As Rose exited with a flourish, Divine shook her head in mirth and chuckled quietly. "That boy never learns," she muttered before turning her attention to the group proper. "Hopefully," she started. "This will be an isolated incident... However, if it is not... I was wondering if I could count of you all for support." She sighed and rubbed the back of her neck. "Given how well you handled yourself in the field... At least I assume you did, I would be eternally grateful for your continued assistance. Of course, I will not just provide you with gratitude, but also gold, if that is what you desire."

Eventually, a dozen or so maids, including Rose, returned carrying plates of food. Each plate had a myriad of food on it, and given the wide selection, there was little chance of anyone finding that there was nothing they would enjoy eating. "But," Divine said as the food came in. "We will discuss that later. For now, dig in~"

Meanwhile in the infirmary, the maid treating Faerie giggled. "Well, yes I am. Do you mind if I ask why you're so light?" She asked as she began to deal with Faerie's wound properly. "You don't have to answer, I'm just curious."

Ashen was grateful for the special treatment that he got, nodding to Rose as he sat down. As the maid exited the room in a grand way. With the service this good it was easy to forget who here was royal. He began to relax in his seat as he waited, but stiffened and straightened as Divine requested attention. It was alright for everypony else, but if there was a threat his position forced him into any fighting regardless of his will, so there was no decision to be made for him. The food had yet to arrive, but he was sure that he could enjoy gratitude well enough. As Rose returned, this time with an entourage to carry a wide choice of food in, watching her with a smile. After a moment or two of thinking, his mind caught up with an earlier comment. “That...boy?” he had to ask. There was only one colt here, and that was one who Divine did not know well enough to comment on. “Can I ask who you mean?” He held off of taking any food for the present moment, not wanting to compete with anyone going for anything in particular. He’d find something he was sure, so he didn’t mind letting everypony else have the first pick.

Zen eagerly enough followed the maids into the dining hall and happily hovered over to a seat for himself. Then he'd been just about to respond to her question when the maids walked back in with the assortment of dinner items. Almost as soon as they were placed before him, and he gave the maids a quiet word of thanks, he'd immediately began reaching for things to add to his own plate. "So you're worried about future incidents?" Zen asked as he continued getting the pieces he desired.

Faerie shakes her head. "That is.... something I am uncomfortable speaking about. I apologies. But you are treating my injury. And I will continue to protect you and others." Nyx continues to dance around saying thank you as the mare treats her leg, eventually falling silent. While this occurs, she floats her bow over and begins checking it for signs of wear and tear.

Blade quickly nodded at the prospect of helping Divine and keeping her safe from the people that attacked them. Then, he noticed the others take a more thoughtful approach and sunk into sit as the food came in. The colt couldn't help, but think about how good the food was going to be. This was royal food, not the small meals that he had been forced to eat for the last year. He seemed sad briefly as he thought about the year, but shook his head in order to rid himself of the day. He kept to himself and looked around to let the others talk, since he didn't have much to contribute at the moment.

He did notice that Faerie was feeling better now and smile to himself for that.

Diamond looked up from his book as the group entered, and smiled upon seeing Divine. He moved closer to her, humming as he did so. "I'm assuming the assassin is going to live?" He turned towards the group as Divine addressed them, nodding in agreement. He had an idea of his own though, but then the food was served. Diamond decided to have some of the pastas served, getting a bowl for himself and eating slowly, taking his time to enjoy every bite.

Nodding at Diamond before giving him a quick nuzzle, Divine followed her own order and began to eat hungrily. Looking up from her food, she blinked, before gesturing vaguely to Black Rose. "Him, there in the maid outfit," she mumbled before returning to her food. Black Rose, having seen Divine point at her, waved to Ashen with a smile.

Swallowing her mouthful she turned to Zen and nodded. "I am indeed... This is technically not the first time that they've attacked, assuming they are who I think they are. I pray that I am wrong." As the meal progressed Divine would eventually sigh and lean back, content to let the others enjoy themselves, and the food.

The maid snorted and shook her head. "It's fine, we all have our secrets. Now don't go putting two much strain on that leg for the moment. Just let it rest." Packing up her gear, she glanced at the mare with a smile. "Would you like me to lead you to the dining hall?"

Ashen saw Rose and smiled back at her, him, hir, it. He was a little confused now that Divine had said that, so casually too, as to him it was something of a big deal. The smile he gave had a hint of knowing something that could not be unknown, but from the look on his face he didn't mind too much. It made him want to question the interest Rose held for him. Did that make him a game or something like that? He wouldn't find that very fun at all. She said that he'd be taking him back to his room, so at least there was a chance for him to talk to it later. “Sorry to trouble you," he apologised to Divine before surveying the table, now that a few had started to eat. This late start and an extreme mindfulness of how he ate in the company he shared, meant he would probably be the last to finish, but the most noticeably polite eater. Even when he was done, and felt the lethargy of being well fed, remaining sat up and keeping any part of his body from touching the table. If others didn’t demonstrate the same effort he would certainly mentally curse himself for taking himself so seriously, not like that would have much effect on the enjoyment of the food. In fact, seeing there was still food, he decided that waste was not a good thing and that he should try and do his bit to combat that like he would any other evil.

Accepting the answer, Zen returned his attention to his plate that was nearing full. Once it was though, and returned to in front of him, Zen asked a follow up question. "Isn't there already some special force tasked with protecting you Divine? Are we to assume we've been recruited into such a force, or are we to be the founding members of a new force charged with this task?" Zen asked before taking his first bite of the meal, one that was quickly followed by a long drink to help wash it down before adding in another inquiry to the question. "And what would such a position entitle?" While he awaited the answers, Zen continued to enjoy his meal, eating at a medium pace and taking many stops to have long drinks, even going so far as a third refill before he finished his plate.

Faerie nods sheepishly. It would be annoying to stay of her leg, but she understood the necessity. Better to endure a little inconvenience now then permanent injury. "Erm, yes please. I should probably go meet with the others." She eases herself towards the edge of the bed, careful not to actually step onto the floor and thus risk injuring her newly patched up leg. "This was very kind of you."

What Blade was seeing in front of him was heaven! So many delicious things to choice from and the smells only increased his hunger. His little tall wiggled around as he decided what to eat. His eyes darted around in order to see what would be the best for him to start off with before deciding that they were all good to start off with. So, with magic he picked up a few items and placed them near himself before he started to have his feast, manners no where to be seen while he ate like a savage. The food was amazing and even matter than he imagined! So, he jus gobbled up all the food and made a little "nom nom" as he continued to eat and seeming to be in his little world now.

Diamond smiled and let out a quiet noise of glee as Divine nuzzled him. He hummed before finishing his food, then looking over at Zen. "Well, I'm her personal bodyguard...you'd be a part of our first 'wartime' group. None of our soldiers are prepared for such things. To put a point forth, none of our soldiers have any weapons better than basic bronze weapons, not suited for more than parades and peacekeeping." Diamond lifted up the steel sword he had taken off the attacker he had killed, unsheathing it. "This is some of the first steel weaponry we've seen in our kingdom in a long while. The position you all would hold is still up for debate. I need to study the old military more before I can determine rank."

"It's not trouble at all Ashen," Divine mumbled through a mouthful of food, before she blinked and swallowed. "Uhhh... Actually, could you not mention what I just told you to anyone else?" She glanced at Rose before returning her gaze to him. "It's not something I should be sharing, it kinda just slipped out..."

She coughed at Diamond's words and shook her head, clearing her throat. "Diamond, could we please not call it a 'wartime' group... If at all possible, I would very much like to avoid a war. Wars are expensive, both in money and time, and most importantly blood." She considered Zen's question for a moment before responding. "You would be an elite strike force... you would also be my guards, and soldiers. I hate to say it, but you would be the first real troops we've had to deploy in quite some time." Divine listened to the sounds of the ponies eating, and she allowed herself a small smile for the relative peace that had returned to the land.

The maid shook her head and slipped underneath Faerie again, lifting her easily. "It's no trouble at all Ma'am. We are here to serve after all." And with that, she began to carry the light mare back to the hall.

"Hmmm, well I suppose I'm in," Zen said with a shrug as he drained the last of that 3rd refill and waited for a 4th. As Faerie was brought back into the dining room, Zen waved towards her. "Hey, good to see you're still alive," he commented, sounding slightly joking. "Looks like we're to be fighters for the elite," he added as way of a quick fill in for the priorly absent mare. After that statement though, Zen got up from his spot at the table, hovering a bit away from it as he began to move about. "So we got free roam around here for the moment, or is there cause for me to hang around?"

Ashen nodded at Divine's request to keep silent. He would have mentioned her manners were lacking, but she surely knew and was just not in the mood to care given the company. "It's not the weapons, it's how you use them. Bronze might be somewhat pitiable a material for a weapon, but if you know what you're doing it just needs to be sharp," Ashen said, though not too loudly. He didn't think he was near that skill, but in a group this size there could at least be one was. which was why it made sense to have experience, and he didn't want to speak out against the decision. They were bringing in ponies that may as well have mercenaries now though? He would have preferred a different approach to solving the problem, though he wasn't sure what.  They all seemed nice enough, but giving a pony a rank didn't make them a soldier. There was training, marches, parades and protocols...He was a representative of all the ponies he worked with, for their sake he opened his mouth to speak, but something caught in his throat and he couldn't bring himself to project his voice. His mouth just sat there half open as though a feline creature had run away with his tongue.  “Wouldn’t,” the first word left his mouth, opening the way for the rest. “It be best to look at those we already have, first? I’m...I’m sure there would be some good candidates that would jump at the opportunity."

Faerie blushes lightly as she is easily picked up by the maid. "err... Yes. Will the Divine be there? I... probably should have something better to wear for a meeting of this sort. Oh dear, I may have to say thank you.... ugh.."
she looks around the interior as she is carried, taking note of how modest or grand the furnishings of the castle are.
